The parents of a three year old girl in Maryland took her to a family party at a Chucky Cheese resturant, left without her, ASSUMING that other relatives had taken her home, and found out she was MISSING when police had the local news air her picture! She's been reunited with her family, but I still would never have left the resturant without my child.

Brushfires In Rick Santorum's Home State

Rick Santorum has a new home state. For some reason, he has taken a liking to Oklahoma. Pennsylvania will not hold their primary until April, so Rick Santorum needs a place to call home. But instead of actually learning something about his new "home state" and the history thereof, he pulled a truly stupid sounding comment out of an unmentionable part of his anatomy.

"Get this brushfire going," Santorum told the hundreds of supporters who filled the church gymnasium Sunday night. "I saw a few brushfires on my way over. ... We need another kind of brushfire from here in the heartland.".......Yahoo; The Ticket 2012

Seriously, Rick.....brushfires? So close to where tornados have recently dug new paths? You must be out of your mind! Maybe you're waiting to get a message from a burning bush, like Moses. We usually try to put brushfires out as quickly as possible in this part of the country.

A Burning Bush, or "brushfire", also; apparently, the source of Rick Santorum's inspiration. Could this possibly be what he considers an authoritative source for some of his ideas? Especially the religious ideas he wants to take with him to the White House? Is he just another narcissist, or does he have a full blown messiah complex?

I'm Impressed With Rush Limbaugh's Former Sponsors

My day just got better! Hearing that seven advertisers, and counting, are pulling their ads out of Rush Limbaugh's show after he got on the air and called a law student a slut because she wants contraception and other healthcare for women to be covered by insurance companies made me very happy. Watching other Americans sit back and simply coexist with people like Rush Limbaugh, and various other conservatives and assorted nuts had gotton me a bit sad, lately. But now I can see that there is hope. The seven companies who no longer wish to be associated with Rush Limbaugh are Quicken Loans, Legal Zoom, Sleep Number, Sleep Train, Citrix Systems, Carbonite, and Pro Flowers.

Update: The count of advertisers who no longer wish to be associated with Rush Limbaugh is now at forty-two, and counting!

Texas Teen Who Needs A Kidney

Here's a young man whose mom is using the internet to find a kidney donor for him. His name is Blake Jordan, he's staying in the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas, Texas, and he has already had one kidney transplant fail. He needs a healthy donor whose blood type is O positive. He is so cute that I could not stop myself from posting about this.

Arpaio Thinks Birth Certificates Are More Important Than Real Police Work

Sheriff Arpaio strikes again! He's hot on Obama's trail! (seriously; where's the eye-rolley when I need it?) He's training his merry gang of volunteers, the Cold Case Posse, to scan copies of Obama's birth certificate, over and over again, with a magnifying glass, and....who knows...maybe a ouija board....for anything at all that can stir up the merry gang of "birthers", those determined but unstable folk who think it's not okay to have a president of mixed race born in a rather new state, (bona fide, inasmuch as our constitution is concerned) but think it would have been okay to have a whiter president born in another country, namely Panama, in a CIVILIAN hospital. (possibly not bona fide, according to the constitution)

Isn't there enough actual crime in Arizona and nationwide to keep volunteers for any law enforcement organization busy? Everyone from Sherlock Holmes to Donald Trump has had a look at President Obama's birth certificate, only to determine that it's authentic. Arpaio's efforts to reduce recidivism among convicts resonated among his constituents because they were a teeny bit parallel to reality. While his ideas to reduce illegal immigration in his community were unconstitutional and unethical, the ideas still responded to a real situation. But this birth certificate thingy has been proven quite a few times to be imaginary. Just a bunch of undereducated, undersocialized, unsmart prejudiced people who want a white male for president.

Crime in Arizona sometimes requires volunteer efforts.....let's see: we have the Jhessye Shockley case. Other children sometimes go missing in Arizona and need to be found. Volunteer efforts are almost always needed at some level in those cases. Why don't we see Arpaio putting his time and energy into that? Or....if he really has time to snoop at things that are not truly his own state's jurisdiction, such as another citizen's birth certificate, why not help with out of state missing persons cases? Kyron Horman,  Lisa Irwin, and Ayla Reynolds are still missing. If Arpaio doesn't want to do anything difficult, such as actually search or do police or hard core volunteer work, but prefers riling up the public with his take on documentation, instead; what's wrong with organizing volunteers to update and age progress some of these missing childrens' pictures?  

If Arpaio is using the President's birth certificate to garner attention from right wing loonies and gain votes during the next election, perhaps he would gain better and more solid attention for actually mobilizing his volunteers to solve real crimes and real problems, rather than acting on unbased impulses and insane thoughts.

Petition For Status On Kyron Horman Case

This is a link to a petition to law enforcement and the district attorney in Multnomah County, Oregon. It is a request for an update on the Kyron Horman case. He disappeared from his school on June 4, 2010, and the community would like an update, as he has not been found.
