Brandon Scott Lavergne's Mother Learns One Facebook Post At A Time

Hmmmm.....The mother of Brandon Scott Lavergne, who was arrested the day before yesterday for the kidnap and murder of Mickey Shunick, wants everyone to know that she had no idea her son could ever do such a thing. In fact, she is completely clueless, according to KATC, and is just as surprised as the rest of us are. (where's the eye-rolley when I need it....this woman knows her son!) Here's what Cynthia Lavergne had to say:

"I would like to offer my condolences to the Shunick family. I also would like to have closure. I know I'm sorry is never enough however, it is all I have to offer at this moment. I am learning about this case as everyone else is, one newscast at a time, one facebook post at a time, and one phone call at a time."

This does not even read like a case of parental denial. This looks more like an outright lie. First of all, she knew what type of vehicle her son drove. She may have even known enough about his stomping grounds to place him at the spot where and when Mickey was last seen. It is also highly unlikely that she did not know that little Brandon's truck was reported stolen in Texas immediately after the news aired pictures of it on national television. (how many times do we see our kids' vehicles on television?) It's also quite likely that she knew he had a new truck. Just like the old truck. And is she really going to try to convince us that she did not know her son had a history of violent crime? Perhaps the police should ask this woman who gave little Brandon a ride back from Texas after he attempted to destroy the evidence and made a false police report about his truck getting stolen? It would also be prudent to see if she assisted him in making any fraudulent insurance claims.

If it happens that she was involved in any of these sordid affairs, how much more hollow will her disgusting claims of cluelessness sound? "One facebook post at a time"? Seriously, Mrs Lavergne? Either you are joking, or you are lying.

Yep. There's no way at all that a family member of the owner of this vehicle could possibly recognize it on television. Absolutely no way. But someone in another state noticed it badly damaged and burned and recognized it and called police. One facebook post at a time, everyone; one facebook post at a time.

I just told my husband this this morning. How in the world did she not at the very least suspect him. She lives closer to him than he lives to Lafayette. Your son's truck is plastered all over national news, it comes up missing, he gets a new one, and he replaces all the siding and skirting on his trailer, she is a contractor and manages construction crews no less. This all happened right after Mickey was reported missing and way before he went offshore. He is a Tier 3 sex offender!! He just served 8 years in the pen and has been out less than 2 years. Everyone from high school that knew him said he was a loose cannon and angry all the time... she had to know something. His brother had to know something. They just had to suspect him at the least. She either did not want to turn him in and admit her son could do this, or, she helped him. I can believe she did not help him but I can't believe it never crossed her mind. They live 15 minutes from each other. She never went to his house and smelled something rank...once? In 2 months she never noticed strange behavior (even over the phone), come on...where is MY eye rolling emoction when I need it.

It wouldn't surprise me if she turned out to be the one who gave him a ride back from Texas after he destroyed his truck. She knew.

i actually suspected that she may have been the "concerned citizen" that provided information to the police regarding the burned truck. depending on their relationship, it could be that he didn't tell her about the truck, until weeks later.

Why would you suspect that? I mean, you can suspect that if you wish. But why didn't Lavergne's mother tell police about his collection of state issued ID's, and other "keepsakes"? Or tell police about her son's possible involvement in the other murder with which he has been charged? I kinda don't think it was she who told law enforcement about the truck. I think someone who lives in Texas did that. Someone who wants the crime solved. Pardon me if I do not sound like I have a lot of patience for families that enable young people to commit murder. I don't.

She's the one who said she was finding out about all this "one Facebook post at a time". Everyone else found out about it from the police or the news. Did you notice that she also offered the family condolences while her son was entering a plea of "not guilty", and while Mickey was still missing?
