Let Me Explain What I Said About Property Tax

In the Spring of 2016, I started sharing information on this site about the property taxes of the Marshall County attorney, Laura McNish. At present, all of the information about Marshall County, Kansas, and the taxes of property owners indicates that Ms. McNish is cheating when she files her property taxes. I have heard questions and opinions, both in person and in writing, to the effect that Ms. McNish cannot possibly do such a thing, but the facts and figures do not lie. Below is a screenshot of the county attorney's property tax information for the year 2015. Note that her residential property, in a completely residential neighborhood, in a place where farming is forbidden by the covenants, is listed as a farm, rather than a residence.

Now that you have had a chance to see Laura McNish's property taxes, you should be aware that all of her neighbors in the Keystone Addition are paying property taxes on residences, not farms. Also, for your viewing pleasure, I have included an excerpt from the covenants of the Keystone Addition, stating that agriculture and business are prohibited. So anyone can see that there is no legal way that Laura McNish, Esquire, can run a farm on her acre or so of lawn space around her house on Lot 114 in the Keystone Addition. Hopefully, this will answer everyone's questions about the posts on this site concerning possible tax fraud on the part of the Marshall County Attorney. Of course, this is only what we know about, so far. There may be more.

No one is above the law, and anyone who enforces the law should keep the law. This includes county attorneys in Kansas.

Marshall County Kansas Attorney Cheats On Her Taxes

Where's this ranch you keep saying you have, every year when you pay your property taxes, Rancher McNish? I've only noticed one heifer here, and while the Kansas Department of Revenue will most likely agree about the fat cow at your house, it is doubtful that they will agree that you own a ranch on less than two acres.

Old Macfishface Had A Farm

The warning was given three times from this site, in three recent posts. It seems that the county attorney in Marshall County, Kansas still thinks that pretending to practice law is a type of farming or ranching. The law is pretty clear: in order to declare one's real estate property as a farm or a ranch, and pay the lower taxes associated thereof, the property must generate forty percent of one's income in the form of agriculture. A very big problem in Laura McNish's case is that the covenants of the Keystone Addition, where her "farm" is located, clearly prohibits farming and ranching. My, my! What's a lawyer with a green thumb to do? Even if the "farm" is clandestine, and only legal in Colorado and Washington; shouldn't a county prosecutor pay her fair share of property taxes?

How's The Coffee?

Businesses that allow you to use their wifi are nice, aren't they? Especially when coffee is served nearby!  I've noticed you, quite a few times, here on my site. You spend quite a bit of time, checking and double checking certain posts; my tracker records all of it. In fact, my tracker has a name for you: it is 107.217.92.84. You've been doing this for a couple of years now, not always from the above IP, but; nonetheless, reading and rereading all of this site's posts about a certain subject.

Usually, such interest in a topic is accompanied by a relevant comment or an email, with a coherent question and identifying information from the sender. As long as the contact is friendly, and no threats or other ugliness is involved, there is never a problem. So.......in the past couple of years, what have you so fervently sought here, on this site? What do you want?

As for the posts that seem to grab your attention, they are not going away. The current information surprised yours truly, as well as quite a few others, but it stood up to fact checks and is, sadly, true. If you actually care about the person involved, you should tell her to make amends and reparations. I intend to continue to write about the matter until it is completely amended. I will also cover it elsewhere, because it is public information, and this is an election year. Since this site is my personal blog, I also have posts on the subject already published, scheduled to appear on certain dates. No matter what happens, those posts will appear at the time they are scheduled to appear. Even if the entire Midwest, from.....ahem....Zionsville, Indiana to Colorado suddenly ceases to exist, the posts on the subject that interests you so much will appear! The only person who can interfere is yours truly.

I hope you have enjoyed your coffee. It's been fun chatting with you.

Abbie Hoffman Moment

Here's a question for everyone, and it will relate to future posts on this website: does anyone see a farm or a ranch in this picture?

Private Message

Hey Laura, there is something you should at least try to recognize. I would never have known about your son and the vandalism he committed in Marshall County, Kansas, in the summer of 2013, had you not scrambled so desperately to blame someone else for the damage to your vehicle. Do you think that those whose assistance you sought in making false accusations were quiet about what you said? Think again! And.....as a freak of happenstance.....I just happened to be present when your son's victim confronted you. You did not even appear to remember the incident, or his connection to it; but he remembered! How on earth do you forget the destructive behaviors of your own progeny toward your constituents, anyway? Aren't you even the slightest bit embarrassed? If not, you should be. It is also quite clear that you neglected to pay off all of your son's classmates in exchange for silence. Most of them were too young, at the time, to be legally held to a contract; but do you seriously expect them not to talk when your son brags about his own unlawful behavior, as if it were an amusing pastime for him? Don't be so unrealistic.

You also need to be aware that our state and federal authorities are not the "Poetry Police", charged with a sweet and sparkly mission of making the internet and the world of printed words a pleasant and wonderful place for you! You appear to have no reservations about destroying reputations, lodging false accusations, fracturing families, or ruining lives. Are you really that surprised when others desire to see you and yours held accountable for your lies and wrongdoing? If you seriously think that dishonesty is a good approach for your job, you need to develop a thicker skin. As an elected official, you do not have the same protections from liable or slander that the rest of the world enjoys; and if you harm others, people are going to talk about it.

And Laura, where's this farm to which you refer every year, when you do your taxes?

College Offers Classes In Cannabis Cultivation

Entrepreneurial Opportunities In Emerging Markets: Marijuana Legalization. That is the title of a new course offering at Ann Arundel Community College, in Maryland. No joke. Maryland has decriminalized small amounts of marijuana, and citing the trend nationwide, has taken the step of opening the eyes of college students to possible opportunities in agriculture and marketing of the same. Maybe one day, all the folks who engage in the business unlawfully will be obliged to find gainful employment and pay taxes.

Disclaimer: yours truly does not recommend the use of any recreational drug.

Romney Should Stop Leaching Off Of The Nonmormon Population

Isn't Romney rich enough to afford his own goodies? He pays his taxes at the lowest possible rate, (as far as we know.....he has not been forthcoming with all of his financial information from overseas accounts yet) and uses and abuses everything the taxpayors of this country have to offer, even though the rest of us have to pay for it or do without it. Why is a government employee of Kansas working as an unpaid advisor to Romney's campaign? That's right; Kris Kobach, Secretary of State in Kansas, is donating Kansans' time to Mitt Romney! Kansas, itself, does not owe Romney anything. The population of Kansas has not agreed to support Romney. Romney's use of Kris Kobach, while Kris Kobach has an official obligation to the people of Kansas, is nothing short of dishonest and wrong.

As of yesterday, Mitt Romney is also receiving secret service protection at taxpayors' expense. Most presidential wannabees don't get publicly funded protection this early in a campaign. If Romney wants to continue his bid, can't he do that at his own expense, until he actually gets nominated by his party? He isn't a former president or first spouse, he hasn't been nominated, and he isn't even a governer or representative of any state anymore; why are we paying for his personal needs? If he's truly as concerned about the middle class as he claims, he should not be making the middle class pay his way, here. Doesn't he have his own safety net? Here's more information, concerning a "safety net" Romney has in the Caymen Islands.

As for the conflict of interest created by the untaxed, free services of a Kansas official, here is what someone from Kansas anonymously stated, "How many hours does this man actually spend doing the job he was hired to do here in Kansas? Our taxes pay him to do a job here. He's using us to make a name for himself (and not a good one) around the country. Shouldn't he be held accountable for his work right here in this state? Though, he does seem to make more of a mess when he is working for Kansas", at the WIBW website. If Mitt wants to be a real man about all of this, he should at least start paying for the services he takes and make sure that no conflicts arise between the person he uses and the people that person represents.

Herman's Harem....In His Dreams!

Photo Curtesy of Yahoo
What's the matter, Armando? Can't keep your harem under control? It looks to me like you should have granted these women some professional respect when you had the chance. They don't look very happy right now, but I guess you already know. Gloria Allred has served you with notice........

Something you should realize, Herman, is that the unfortunate stereotype of the American male businessman turned politician is generally that of a male who is a bit sexist. Lets face it, a woman in this country has a harder time finding harmony between the roles of motherhood and any career she might pursue than she does in any other developed nation. We get denied promotions because everyone knows we will always put our children first. (at least, we SHOULD) We often don't get paid as much as men, and often don't get benefits as easily because reproductive health has a more direct impact on our lives than it has on yours, or any other man's. And my boss once got very, very upset with me because I got a phone call from the hospital, letting me know that my baby had gotton sick at daycare and had been taken to the emergency room with a fever of 105.8. No joke, Herman; I was expected to remain at work until it was convenient for everyone else to manage without me. Of course, I left, and went to the emergency room anyway, because my children are more important to me than any job. But our culture left my boss with a vehicle through which to accuse me of "not doing my job" because my baby got sick! It would not surprise me if every woman in America who maintains a job somewhere was able to sympathize with me at one level or another. We are kinda sorta used to it, even though we would all like to see it change. But; you wanna add sexual harassment to all of that, and force us to deal with ass-grabbing bosses, as well? And you also wanna lead the nation? Hmmmm..........I honestly do not think you really have much to offer.

Now a fourth woman has come forward with a similar story about you, and ass-grabbing on the job. It has been my experience in number crunching and marketing that in a demographic such as your business, every single complaint you have heard probably represents at least a dozen that you have not heard. That goes for every type of complaint, from moldy pizza to sexual harassment. It is much easier to just take the path of least resistance when one's employer behaves inappropriately, than it is to speak up, and run the risk of losing one's income. That's why I believe that you probably, in this regard, have lived up to the negative stereotype of the American businessman turned politician. If a man just keeps his hands to himself, work related tasks always seem to get done much more quickly and efficiently. And, that same man will keep the respect of his co-workers, as well, both on and off the job. Especially when he decides, later on, to run for president. But, you went about your business seemingly unaware of this, and I don't think any number of court proceedings are going to clue you in now, and I think all of us are better off without you in the White House.

One more thing you can do to possibly enhance your chances for the presidency is this, Mr. Cain; pay your taxes!

Update: There is now a fifth woman coming forward with allegations of unprofessional and inappropriate conduct on the part of Herman Cain.

Further Update: We now know that Herman Cain could not be guilty of professional misconduct or sexual harrassment because he "totally respects women". Sure, Armando. Anything you say. (where's the eye-rolley when I need it?)

Another Update....and...where's the eye-rolley when I need it? Herman Cain thinks he was told by "God" to run for president, and he even likens himself to the biblical Moses! Stuff people do when "God" speaks to them, personally, almost never turns out well............and as for being anything like Moses, lets hope "God" does not set the bushes on fire when he speaks to Cain. Unless, of course....firehose.........no; I won't go there.......
