School Walkout On March 14

In response to loosely translated and barely enforced laws in America concerning the ownership and uses of firearms, students in American public schools are planning a seventeen minute walkout on March 14, to recognize the loss of seventeen students in Parkland, Florida to a mass shooting at a school and to protest the current interpretation of the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Well and good; the First Amendment applies to students in public schools, along with everyone else in this country.

Schools have responded to this idea differently. Some schools have allowed it, some schools have discouraged it, and other schools are threatening to impose unconstitutional sanctions to students who exercise their First Amendment rights and walk out for seventeen minutes. A lot of schools are making threats of inappropriate sanctions, seemingly without contacting the attorneys that represent their school boards. Beyond counted the seventeen minutes of missed class time as an unexcused absence for each student who walks out, a school really does not the legal authority to back up their claims of having children arrested for walking down hallways and through doors. Further information can be accessed here, though a list of protocols published by CNN.

Something public schools should recognize, prior to criticizing children for demanding change is that because of our leaders, Trump in particular, advocating the notion teachers should carry loaded weapons to class, children feel even less safe in school than they did before the last mass shooting at a school. In Kansas, schools actually began the 2013-2014 school year without insurance  because of lax gun laws in Kansas.

Come To Chicago

Here it is, Moonlight; the song I told you about a couple of days ago. Today, another young person told me that she had "always been told" that it is unlawful to protest war in America! I asked her who told her that, and she couldn't tell me. The lack of knowledge about our Constitution is becoming a bigger danger that any of the things we protest.

County Attorney In Kansas Hates The First Amendment

Laura, you never cease to amaze me. Seriously. And I don't mean that as a compliment, either.

When someone has a relative who brings weed into his home, and the homeowner goes up on charges for it, what does his job as a journalist, his appearances in TV documentaries, and his previous ownership of a local newspaper have to do with his case? And why do those things mean he should serve a longer sentence?

How's the farm, Laura?

Hanging In Effigy

Once upon a time, in January of 2012, to be exact, the Republican house speaker in Kansas, Mike O'Neal, emailed a "prayer" for then president, Barack Obama. The text from the bible, Psalm 109, was, "let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow." He thought everyone should pray this prayer for America's President. There were no accusations of violent threats, even though this is clearly a threat of murder. President Obama was a gentleman about it, and ignored Mr. O'Neal's stupidity and rudeness.

Fast forward to March of 2017. Racist America has elected Donald Trump to be president, and Donald Trump does nothing but sign racist edicts, such as his two failed travel bans, and tweet at America on Twitter at 3:00 every morning, sharing everything from his silly-assed feelings to national secrets. In response to all this, musician and singer, Snoop Doggy Dogg, created a video in which he shoots a very trumpesque clown, which he calls "Ronald Klump."

Donald Trump has complained about this video, saying, "Can you imagine what the outcry would be if Snoop Dog, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!" Seriously? After the actual death threat to President Obama that was written and emailed by Mike O'Neal, in Kansas, brought no consequences at all, Trump really thinks that the exercise of first amendment rights and satire would bring jail time to someone else, if President Obama was the target? Snoop Dogg's video is the equivalent of hanging in effigy, which, along with flag burning, silly cartoon drawings, and photo shopped pictures of elected officials, is protected speech. Trump needs to understand that he is in America, and he needs to understand that the Constitution protects all Americans. After he begins to understand those two things, he needs to grow up.

Private Message

Hey Laura, there is something you should at least try to recognize. I would never have known about your son and the vandalism he committed in Marshall County, Kansas, in the summer of 2013, had you not scrambled so desperately to blame someone else for the damage to your vehicle. Do you think that those whose assistance you sought in making false accusations were quiet about what you said? Think again! And.....as a freak of happenstance.....I just happened to be present when your son's victim confronted you. You did not even appear to remember the incident, or his connection to it; but he remembered! How on earth do you forget the destructive behaviors of your own progeny toward your constituents, anyway? Aren't you even the slightest bit embarrassed? If not, you should be. It is also quite clear that you neglected to pay off all of your son's classmates in exchange for silence. Most of them were too young, at the time, to be legally held to a contract; but do you seriously expect them not to talk when your son brags about his own unlawful behavior, as if it were an amusing pastime for him? Don't be so unrealistic.

You also need to be aware that our state and federal authorities are not the "Poetry Police", charged with a sweet and sparkly mission of making the internet and the world of printed words a pleasant and wonderful place for you! You appear to have no reservations about destroying reputations, lodging false accusations, fracturing families, or ruining lives. Are you really that surprised when others desire to see you and yours held accountable for your lies and wrongdoing? If you seriously think that dishonesty is a good approach for your job, you need to develop a thicker skin. As an elected official, you do not have the same protections from liable or slander that the rest of the world enjoys; and if you harm others, people are going to talk about it.

And Laura, where's this farm to which you refer every year, when you do your taxes?

The Dirt On The Donald

It's actually about time. And Mr. Trump should have "expected" it. Donald Trump whines about illegal aliens, yet has married two females (your writer hesitates to call them ladies) who were not in America legally. In fact, the first female had defected from her native Czechoslovakia from behind the Iron Curtain. So much for respect of boundaries and citizenship; it is quite clear that Trump either does not mean what he says about it, or thinks that a career as a mail-order bride is a valid path to American citizenship.

Donald Trump also promotes his business savvy. Bankruptcies, at least four, in Trump's case, are permissible in the cases of individuals, but does America wish to force bankruptcy on a generation of children? Is it a way to run a nation? Because such procedures end up in court, the details are naturally open for all to read. If Trump actually secures the Republican nomination, many journalists and publications will proclaim these details, over and over again. It is only a matter of time. "The Donald" should really hope that there was nothing shady or unlawful in any of his past dealings. Remember Geraldine Ferraro and the error in her taxes? What are the chances, given his entire career, that there is unfavorable information concerning Trump's financial history?

How about "The Donald's" manners? Can America trust him to represent her, proudly? His illicit romantic affairs make Bill Clinton's tryst with Monica Lewinsky look puny. Trump even tried to convince a family law court to change the terms of divorce to include stopping his first wife from speaking about him in public, (see above link) but instead was schooled about the First Amendment to America's Constitution. How would he deal with the constant satire to which any public official is subjected? The world is not going to stop turning just for Donald Trump, so it seems that he really should have expected the reaction of Anonymous, along with many a journalist, IRS agent, former spouse, and many others. It's a no-brainer.

Facebook Strikes Again

A Flint, Michigan police officer by the name of Rob Garceau was recently fired because of something he posted on Facebook. The statement he made relates to the investigation of two homicides, and what he wrote is, "Keep purging society of the maggots. 2 less welfare, food stamp people. Keep it up."

Garceau's attorney is running a media campaign against the police department in Flint because he is convinced that Garceau has the right, via the First Amendment, to post such statements as long as he is not on duty. There are several problems with that, beginning with the fact that Garceau is a cop, and cops are trusted to enforce the law. Murder is against the law, yet the police department in Flint had an officer whose public statements technically encourage murder. He may not have meant it literally, but the words still set a terrible example: Garceau essentially told anyone who happens to read his post that murder is behaviorally acceptable. Next, it appears, from Garceau's Facebook post that he believes that anyone who receives public assistance or charity should not have the same protections from law enforcement as the rest of the population. Is a child who qualifies for reduced lunches at school in more danger when Garceau is on duty? Most food stamp recipients are, after all, children. If policemen really think that it is sufficient to allow anyone who might be receiving government assistance to become victims of crime, how can they possibly discourage and fight crime? There is also the reality that a police officer, unless clairvoyant, is not likely to have the ability to determine who is on welfare and who isn't, while on duty. Are we to assume that anyone who the cops think is needy enough for charity will not merit protection from law enforcement? So much for public trust! I do not blame the police department one bit for giving Garceau his walking papers.

Something else Garceau's attorney should think about is the murder case, itself. If the case is still under investigation, chances are quite strong that the prosecutor does not need public comments made about it by a police officer. Not only is there an outside chance of influencing or intimidating witnesses, thereby perverting justice; it shows an officer who does not work well with the court system. I think getting Garceau off the force was a good idea.

Will Pat Roberts Please Shut Up?

An open letter from Pat Roberts, (R-Ks) Jerry Moran, (R-Ks) and et els, to another country, concerning matters of state, in defiance of the White House......yet another reason Kansas republicans do NOT deserve respect! President Obama does not need the likes of Pat Retard and Jerry Moron to undermine his efforts at diplomatic conversations with Iran about war! It seems that Republicans think that keeping the Middle East in as much military conflict as possible, rather than solutions that involve peace, or at least holding back, on war, is better for the world, and for the United States, than peace. The more bloodshed, the happier Roberts will be. Hopefully, his former Kansas page, who supports him ad nauseam, will pick up arms and join in! Or are Republicans only supportive of military actions and bloodshed that do not involve their own?

This may or may not be a direct and clear example of treason, per se. There are arguments circulating the web, at this moment, suggesting that the United States indict the morons who drafted this letter. While most of the supporters of the Kansas representatives who signed this letter only support the First Amendment in cases involving their own protected speech, setting a precedent for prosecutions of treason is a serious matter. This country is seriously divided over some very petty things, and the supporters of Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran voted according to petty feelings surrounding the race of one of President Obama's parents, rather than any agenda, even of treason. Perhaps the more intellectual, thinking citizens in Kansas, if not outnumbered by insane racists, could lead an effort to recall Roberts and Moran and install more intelligent fair minded types.

The real problem with gestures such as this is that it shows America's potential enemies, worldwide, the weaknesses that can be exploited at home. The fact that Americans are actually stupid enough to be divided for racist reasons has become not only an embarrassment, but an actual defense problem. While citizens are bickering, attempting to dress up ugly, racist opinions about their president in the most politically correct garb they can find for their nonsensical horror and make themselves appear "christian", a`la the new testament, any enemy the nation has can clearly see that the division extends all the way to Congress, the Senate, and challenges the White House. Is this helpful in terms of defense, or does this put those who volunteer to defend our country in unnecessary danger? Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, by signing that stupid letter, have inched, or maybe lurched, our country closer to another war. Do we need this? Think about it, Kansas, and stfu.

Stuff That Gets Downplayed In The News

Did anyone know that signaling other drivers by flashing one's headlights to warn of cops hiding with radar guns is protected speech, covered by the first amendment? In November of 2012, Michael Elli of Missouri decided to fight a ticket in court for doing just that, instead of paying the $1000.00 fine. When the local court realized he was going to fight the ticket, arguing first amendment rights and freedom of speech, the case was dropped. But Elli had already filed suit, and the ACLU had already gotten behind him, so the lawsuit went forward. On February 3, a federal judge ruled in favor of Elli. This means that any police officer who tickets a person for flashing car headlights to warn other drivers of a speed trap is interfering with constitutional rights.

While this does not seem monumental, it has huge impact on the entire nation, because this case sets a precedent. It is a very important statement, and a decisive victory for speech and freedom of expression protected by the first amendment. A federal court has, in effect, just told the entire nation's police departments to back off and leave the people alone. Isn't it interesting that none of the local or national media have spoken more on the subject? Why might that be?

The case is styled Elli v. Ellisville, and can be perused, copied, and quoted. Personally, I can't wait to see more people stand up for their rights. Anyone who does not stand up for his or her rights is also failing to stand up for the Constitution. Reporting on the outcomes of cases such as this should not be a problem for the media, either.

Cedar Rapids Iowa

I've asked you before, person whose signal hails from Cedar Rapids, Iowa: what do you want? I know of more than one IP address and location from which you browse this site. I have also noticed you on a mobile device or two. I know which posts grab your interest. I also know who you are. You have not; however, told me what you want.

If you want the things I share on this site to change, don't hold your breath. This is my site, and the words I publish are not chosen to please you. They are not chosen to please the subject of most of the posts you read and re-read, either. That is something I do not owe either of you. Your sister initially thought I did, but she was sadly mistaken. Ha! That was certainly amusing! The First Amendment of our Constitution, here in America, grants all Americans the same rights that are enjoyed by your sister. I do not need a special license to publish the truth; I have freedom of speech, and freedom of expression. Since your sister's position is elected, I can tell the general public anything about her that I think will attract their interest. In order to obtain a measure of protection from that, and enjoy some shelter from liable or slander, she would have to resign her elected position. The fact that no one ran against her does not matter.

What was so important on this site that you actually took time away from your family and spent it here, with me, on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day? If there is something you desperately need to know, by all means, email me! Use the information in my profile to do so, or send me a comment, but mark it "private". I will not publish it; I moderate the comments here. Don't cheat your children out of time with their mother on holidays! That's a little old fashioned, I know. It's also something your sister failed to understand about me, and about the family she attempted to destroy. While our rights are guaranteed us by the government, familial affection, obligation, and tradition are not. Those things transcend government control of any kind. Children who are loved are also a lot less likely to drive their parents' vehicles over the cornfields, lawns, and gardens of others.

If you want me to stop sharing the things I find interesting, you will spend eternity waiting. No one who is vested in the government, or the Koch Brothers; as the case may be; is going to tell me what to share on my site. Or in person, for that matter. I will never be blind enough to believe that the government can and should ruin the physical and social environments of people here on Earth. And don't expect my exercise of the first amendment to ever stop, as long as there are humans on this planet. This goes back to why you should spend holidays with your children, rather then scoping the internet, in search of opposition. While the pen is mightier than the sword, the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the nation. Who rocks the cradle in your home?

Favorite Troll Of 2013

Demonic Looking Troll

Not unlike last year, I had a hard time choosing my favorite troll for 2013. This past year gave me quite a few new trolls, and I even added some of the more annoying ones to my troll gadget! I finally settled on one, but I also decided to throw in a very vocal runner up. His name is Russel Morris, and he is the boyfriend of a very irresponsible daycare provider near Topeka, Kansas. He is not a licensed babysitter dude, yet seems to be present much of the time, even running the daycare, while his girlfriend, who really is supposed to run the home daycare, is not on the premises. When things go wrong, such as the Department of Children and Families shutting the place down, kids getting hurt, lost, or worse, and people getting arrested en masse at the daycare, he always seems present for these things, yet never seems to have an explanation for his presence. He does not like my opinions, as expressed on this site, and writes to me to let me know that "Lucifer" is hot on my trail, and demonic hordes will ride through Kansas, or something kinda like that. It's hard to know exactly what he means!

My favorite, though, is one that has not been vocal, but has followed me almost every day since late March of 2013. She makes hard copies of pages and posts on this site, and shows those pages to anyone and everyone who will stop and look, protesting the horror of constitutional rights, specifically the first amendment, benefitting someone other than herself or the government. Instead of doing her job, she spends hours at a time during the day, on her employer's computer and IP address, perusing this site. Her name is Laura McNish, and she is the county prosecutor of Marshall County, Kansas.

Both of these new trolls have been added to my "troll gadget", in the sidebar on the right. Once again, Happy New Year, everyone!

Happy Birthday, Stetson Kennedy

Stetson Kennedy was born on October 5, 1916 in Florida. He was, in addition to being a writer and researcher of folklore, a human rights activist. The latter actually began as a means of research, in order to write about the Ku Klux Klan, which he infiltrated after World War ll, in a successful effort to gain information. From this research and information, he authored the titles, Southern Exposure, and The Klan Unmasked. He also gave information about the Klan to comic book writers, who used it in creating villians to be defeated by Superman. Anonymous hackers would have been proud.

This method of infiltrating, researching, then finally exposing is what shedding light is all about. Stetson Kennedy infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in Georgia at a time when that hate group controlled Southern politics, and heavily influenced Northern politics. When he felt that he had enough information to address the public about who the Klan actually is and what they do, he went ahead and exposed them, nothing withheld. He wasn't worried about keeping anyone's secrets, hiding anyone's incompetence, or covering up anyone's criminal predilections. This not only what makes his writing great, but what makes the First Amendment great. Stetson dared to tell the world what he saw firsthand, and our Constitution allowed him to do so, even when it meant blowing the whistle on some very powerful terrorists.

Kennedy died in 2011, after a lifetime of publishing books and articles about folklore, activism, and human rights. He was richly rewarded by following his passion, and not many people believed the social strata of the United States, before the Civil Rights Movement, would ever change. He was never terribly clear on whether or not he thought he would see change at the time he wrote about the Klan, but the efforts of political activists and counter culture revolutionaries paid off. We need more writers like Stetson Kennedy.

If The Glove Does Not Fit, You Must Acquit

Last April, a man named John Brennan was arrested for indecent exposure in Portland, Oregon, when he got impatient with airport procedures and TSA agents and took off all of his clothing so that they could plainly see that he was not attempting to sneak explosives onto the plane. Apparently, a glove worn by a TSA agent had allegedly tested positive for silver nitrate, and the only possible source of silver nitrate was obviously John Brennan, so they hassled him. He was acquitted of indecent exposure by the Supreme Court in Oregon last year when a judge ruled that stripping off one's clothing in order to demonstrate that one is not carrying explosives is a legal expression of one's First Amendment rights. This should really serve as a lesson to a certain prosecutor in Marshall County, Kansas concerning constitutional rights. TSA is further harassing John Brennan about paying a fine of one thousand dollars, but as anyone watching this case would expect, he is appealing this.

Some Christian Wants Jesus To Dismantle This Blog

"Why are the posters here not asking Juli the real question... Juli, what is your religion and who do you worship? (Just check out her profile). Posters, why are you arguing with the enemy? Exercise your authority! I just prayed to Jesus Christ for Juli to know Him as Rescuer and Lord and if she rebelliously refuses for Him to dismantle her blog! btw & fyi... I stumbled on to this blog looking for more info on the man in the spotlight as he was in our church recently and we are proactively taking the steps to protect our children, in addition to the background checks and interviews that are already administered diligently and liberally. "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea. Jesus Christ from Mark 9:42"

This was sent to me from someone who read this post, about a man named Hugh Cranford, who used to be a vicar at a Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas, but who is now charged with sexual crimes against children. While I laud this reader's efforts to protect children, I am a bit puzzled that I am somehow labeled "the enemy" in the reader's comment! What did I do??? I thought Hugh Cranford, the Christian minister who likes little boys, was the enemy here, not yours truly!

Let me take this statement by statement, if I may: I am NOT the "enemy". I never was; I never will be. What "authority" should the good Christians exercise? I merely offered a commentary on the behaviors of certain Christian leaders, (this seems to happen more and more often in church) from the perspective of someone who is not a Christian. What, pray tell, is the problem here? Jesus Christ did not "rescue" me at any time during my life when I needed to make unusaul choices, and if he exists, he left me to my own devices many times and insisted that I learn to defend myself and make my own choices. Why would "Jesus" suddenly "rescue" me now, and from whom?

As for "rebellious"........you don't know the half of it, reader. But then, Jesus, if he existed, was rather rebellious, wasn't he? Just ask the mainstream Jews of his time! I come from a long line of revolutionary thinkers, and none of us are about to stop now. But seriously, is alerting the community about a dangerous Christian pastor really that revolutionary or rebellious? As soon as the vicar is convicted, the "rebellious" sex offender registry will do the same!

If Jesus is real, he will not dismantle my blog, or anyone else's blog. In this country, we have what is called "freedom of speech", which is covered by the first amendment of our country's Constitution. I can look at stuff in the news and blog about it, if I so choose. I also do not have to represent your viewpoint, or anyone else's. This goes to the heart of the reason I will never convert to a religion like Christianity. The Christian church, as a whole, thrives on conformity, and members who are good at pleasing their leaders. That is one of the reasons that people like Hugh Cranford are able to get away with sexual abuses of children. Anyone who blows the whistle on a pastor is held in contempt by the sheeple of the temple, and anyone who cannot blend in with the masses is often targeted for abuse and hate. Did you not just prove that by sending me such a mean spirited comment?

I am myself. I will always be myself. Jesus would certainly never ask me to stop being who I am. In fact, he would hate it if I stopped being who I am. I am a good person, and would have to drop at least sixty IQ points in order to attend a Christian church happily, and no diety with whom I have ever worked would ever ask me to do a thing like that. No one asks me about my religion, or who I "worship", because it is not relevant to the post you read. In fact, those things are not relevant to most of the things I write. They would only be relevant to someone looking for a reason to hate me, encourage others to hate me, and possibly burn me at the stake.

By the way, I have never encountered a diety who desires "worship". Such an action is counterproductive to healthy relationships.

What's The Difference Between Buckeye And Marijuana?

Where'e the eye-rolley when I need it? The police in Tennessee, on I-40, about five miles outside of Memphis, pulled over an elderly couple because of an Ohio State sticker on their car bearing the Buckeye logo and because a helmet inside the car was visible with similar stickers on it. They thought that the logo was indictative of drug cartel connections, and that the elderly couple, en route home to Texas from a funeral, might be transporting large amounts of marijuana in their car, while announcing it for all the world to see. The occasion merited black SUV's, body armor, and drawn guns. Your tax dollars at work, folks. Luckily, none of the guns were fired, and the officers were able to calm down long enough to see their mistake and stop their violations of the couple's first amendment rights, which allow visible depictions of, not only buckeye, but marijuana.

The Republic Of Kansas

WHOA....Whoa....whoa....where do I even begin in reaction to this story? A young woman, on a Statehouse field trip in Topeka, Kansas, with Shawnee Mission East, tweeted, while on the field trip, that Governer Brownback sucks. Which, in my opinion, he does. If you have read former posts on this blog concerning the governer of Kansas, you probably know that I think he sucks. I've written it, I've typed it, I've thought it, I've said it; I've never said it to Browncrack in person, but I think it is well known among my friends and aquaintences that it is my opinion that this particular governer sucks balls.

Ok, that said; Governer Browncrack's henchmen, upon finding the tweet, while monitoring the social media to find out what everyone says, up to the minute, about their furor, discovered this young lady's tweet and approached the principal of her school, Karl R. Krawitz, to....I guess...report a teasing! And what did Karl Marx Krawitz do? He told this bold young woman that for exercising her first amendment rights, and for her intelligent insight about our governer, and for speaking the truth, she must write an apology! That's right, folks; it is wrong, in Kansas, to state that Governer Mao Brownback sucks! It's bad enough that our tax dollars pay people in the governer's office to read tweets and facebook posts, but it is downright offensive that a public school would actually sanction a student for making a statement that was perfectly within her rights. If the principal was upset about the tweet, or the use of the electronic device, he should say so, but I do not think that was the problem. I think that if the student had made comments about the governer that were positive, and possibly untruthful, but supportive of the deception brought on by taking in republican propoganda, Karl Marx Krawitz would not have had a problem. Something else to which I would like to respond is this, from cjonline:

"That wasn't respectful," responded Sherriene Jones-Sontag. "In order to really have a constructive dialogue, there has to be mutual respect."

That was what Browncrack's henchmen had to say about the offending tweet. Browncrack's office overlooks two things. First, there was no dialogue with the governer at the time, it was a private tweet among likeminded people. Second, respect has to be earned, and Brownback, if one would care to peruse at least a decade of editorials of various publications and other media, has not EARNED everyone's respect. Outside of Kansas, I do not believe he could even get elected to public office again. And that's any public office, not just that of governer. He panders to big money and uses religion to play on the fears and superstitions of people who are unsuspecting and don't know any better, but that's another post.

Back to this apology that must be written by this bold and forthright student....what would I compose if I were in her shoes? Hmmm.....while having to perform this task is nothing short of an insult, it is also an opportunity. So how would I begin? "Dear Governer Brownback, I am so sorry that the truth hurts and that not everyone in a democracy agrees with you." Or, "Dear Governer Brownback, I applaud your control over Kansas public schools and your ability to erode our first amendment rights." Possibly, "Dear Governer Brownback, Sucking as badly as you suck must be an awful burden in life. You have my condolences."  The possibilities are endless.

Our Furor, Governer Brownback. Maybe someone will tease him after he is finished dispensing whatever Koolaide he is handing out in this picture, and he will run home to mommy, or better yet, get someone in trouble with the principal!
