Dylann Storm Roof To Represent Himself

Remember Dylann Storm Roof, the psychotic little racist who murdered nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina? His trial was scheduled to start on November 7, but he was sent for a psychiatric evaluation, instead. As it turns out, he is sane enough to go to court and stand trial, so jury selection began yesterday. Young Mr. Roof is facing thirty-three charges, some federal, some state, ranging from hate crimes to murder.

In court yesterday, Mr. Roof told the judge that he would like to discharge his attorneys and represent himself. While appearing in court pro se may be acceptable in uncomplicated civil matters, it is not recommended for criminal trials wherein one faces the death penalty, which Mr. Roof faces. The verdict seems almost a foregone conclusion; he has all but confessed. Is it possible that young Mr. Roof already knows he will probably not like the outcome of his trial, and is already angling for another trial, later on?

Jesus Appears In Kansas Tree

So now we know where Jesus actually lives. He lives in a tree, outside of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, in Topeka, Kansas. No kidding, that's what some folks actually think. They think it to the extent that they called the local news station to report this phenomenon, and the local news station actually reported it! Of course, it is quite obvious that the excitable Christians in Kansas have it all wrong, here. That is not Jesus Christ in the tree; the face in the tree is clearly that of Jim Morrison of the Doors!

You Meet Some Of Your Best Lovers In Church

Oh goody. A senator from Arizona, Sylvia Allen, stated, hopefully in sarcasm, that everyone should be ordered to attend a church on Sunday, in order to "restore morals" to America. Where, oh where, is the eye-rolley when I need it? Where?

Senator Allen feels that America is in a state of moral decay, and needs religion to "get back it's soul". Get it back? From when? The days when we used slave labor, and engaged in human trafficking in order to bring slaves here? Perhaps she would like some soul back from the days before there were any child labor laws, or before women were allowed to vote......maybe the morality involved in the denial of financial support to divorced women with children, or the morality of racism.

Perhaps racial and gender equality, combined with fair wages and decent schools, and the repeal of prohibition in favor of spending more dollars on the prosecution of violent crime, and equality and justice from the judicial system would be a start in helping this nation find a "soul" in the first place. Not that your blogger isn't grateful for the country she calls home, but lets be honest about whose souls have traditionally mattered in America, and whose souls have not.

I Suppose It's Palm Sunday

I know everyone has already seen this on Facebook, and I'm sure Jesus is very proud of those of you who go to church. Have some of you christian clergy supporters considered alternatively calling this "holy day" Rosy Palm Sunday, in commemoration of the body part priests should be exercising, along with common sense and decency, instead of abusing children?

Resume Of A Kansas Youth Pastor

In November of last year, a Northeast Kansas youth pastor by the name of James Bugbee was arrested for sexual assault of a minor. For reasons only known to the shadow, this matter only got nominal notice and coverage from local media, and a lot of people in Northeast Kansas are unaware that a youth pastor of Washington Christian Church in Kansas went to court for molesting a child. Last week, he was sentenced to sixty-four months, with credit for time served since his arrest. This garnered even less attention in the news. Fortunately, the court was more impressed than the media with Reverend Bugbee's accomplishments. Sixty-four months is the longest sentence with which a first time offender can be sentenced for this crime in Kansas. But shouldn't all the churches be proud enough of Reverend Bugbee to announce his evangelical talents everywhere? Should parents in Washington County Kansas and surrounding areas have a chance to peruse his resume in the sex offender registry prior to allowing children to attend church?

Minnesota Minister No Longer On The Lam

Almost a year ago, John Walsh featured a story on The Hunt about a christian minister in Minnesota who had inappropriate sexual relationships with underage females in his church. Is this becoming a familiar scenario with christianity? Or at least, christianity in the Midwest? During the 1990's, a creep named Victor Barnard started a church in Minnesota so that he could entice the young, female daughters of his parishioners to move in with him, in a camp-like compound he built, while holding them hostage. He got the permission of their parents to keep them there, so the teenage girls had no say. Wow......gotta hate christianity sometimes! How could parents allow this? Barnard isn't really unique, either; Catholic parents have been ignoring their childrens' claims of clerical abuse for centuries.

Minnesota decided to find out what the rumors and claims of abuse surrounding Reverend Barnard were all about in 2012, but the good reverend moved his pimping operation to the state of Washington. At that point, it became national affair, rather than merely limited to Minnesota, so the FBI got involved. When enablers of the reverend "annunciated" to him that authorities were still hot on his trail, he picked up and moved to Brazil. It appears that his happened last year, but the story is still unfolding. Interpol got involved, and he was caught in Rio Grande last week, with a Brazilian enabler.

What is it, about Jesus, that makes his legend and persona so convenient for sex offenders and child abusers? And why don't they carry on their abuse with people their own ages, in a safe, sane, and consensual manner? What is it, about these clerical authority figures, that drives them to seek out relationships and isolated encounters with victims, rather than finding willing partners? Is it more holy, according to christian doctrines, to defile one's self with an unwilling child, and either ruin the child's life or kill the child, than it is to just admit that one is a pervert and find an equally corrupt adult? And what's with these parents who allow this crap, and don't put a stop to it when they discover it? Why would anyone cover for these people? Don't they love their children? One might accuse Barnard of starting a cult, but is this story unique to his operation? John Walsh covered it, and the media also made Barnard famous, but there have been so many reports lately involving clergy gone wild that we can no longer ignore the fact that Judeo-Christian religions somehow attract and propagate filth.

How can parents of clerically abused children continue to send them to church? When does enough become enough? Are social connections to abusers that important to these dumbass parents? Are the courts really deaf to the complaints of victims, particularly when voiced in unison? And even if the courts don't care, is it really that hard for an individual parent to look at the socially approved crime objectively and keep children away from it?

In Case You Missed Church On Sunday

You can probably catch the sermon after the sermon if you check all the reverend's favorite places to pick up hookers, such as the cemetery!

In Case You Didn't Bother With Church On Sunday

Whoa! I really don't think it's blasphemy unless it's one's own religion, and if one wishes a religion devoted to sin, the christian dogmas have many offerings from which to choose. This is some serious hate mail!

In Case Your Pastor Was Retarded In Church This Sunday

At least stop mocking your own traditions! I don't really judge you guys, but as long as I know what you Frankfort christian types are really all about, I don't think I have anything in common with most of you, and I certainly don't want to spend any time around you or make the mistake of trusting you. It's more a matter of protecting my children and myself than it is a matter of passing judgement. One thing that someone should really point out to you folks, though, is this: most Pagans, along with ardent believers in other religions, show more respect for their holy writings and traditions than I've seen among Christians who attend any of the churches in Frankfort, Kansas.

In Case You Slept Through Church This Sunday

A study that was published in Cognitive Science in July of last year suggests that children brought up in Christian homes, mired with silly Christian dogma, have trouble discerning between fantasy and reality when reading books or watching movies! Children brought up in more secular surroundings have a much easier time determining what is real and what is not. Should this be a surprise to anyone? If you have made it a habit to sleep through church and never listen, your chances of waking up from the dream you had, realizing it was only a dream, are much greater!

In Case You Skipped Church On Sunday

When my oldest child was in kindergarten, she enraged the parents of all of her classmates by telling them that Santa Claus does not actually exist. When she was a senior in high school, she enraged all the less intelligent parents of her classmates by letting them know that Jesus is fantasy, too.
