Question For Born Again Christians

How come Hobby Lobby, a self identified "Christian" company, is dealing in stolen art and artifacts? Why are they conducting business with known terrorists, and buying goods from them? Did Jesus tell Christians that it is alright to grab up the treasures of war torn countries, such as Iraq and Syria, and grab items that belong in national museums, for everyone to see? And why do Christians think that it is okay to financially assist terrorists in any way?

At least Jesus and Friends got sanctioned for it.

In Case You Weren't In Church On Sunday

Look! It's that priest in Frankfort, Kansas who thinks it's okay for a teacher to "just make a mistake" and leave a child by herself, four miles away from school! It's all good, though; if the child had never been found, confession would have made it all better, right?

I really hate these people.

Flying Spaghetti Monster Rules Oklahoma

Oklahoma has gotten quite subversive in the religious choices of the alternative crowd! Shawna Hammond, of Enid, Oklahoma, just had her license renewed wearing the official symbol of her creed: a spaghetti strainer in tribute to her deity, the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

In 2005, a man named Bobby Henderson wrote a letter to the good-for-nothing Kansas State Board of Education to protest the ridicules and irresponsible teaching of creation, a`la Christianity, in public schools. He offered, as an alternative to the imaginary dude in the sky, the lordship of an all-powerful Flying Spaghetti Monster. Because Spaghetti is made of pasta, all of the Faithful are, naturally, Pastafarians. This religion, postulated in desperation to make a point to a state school board that lacks skills and value of any kind, has actually gained popularity and devotees worldwide. Once again, thank you very much, Kansas! (your writer growls sarcastically, here. Kansas seems to always be the cause of such exasperation)

This is a sign of the times, in case anyone here in the Midwest is paying attention. In a case such as this, it is probably as safe assumption that for every one young person such as Shawna Hammond, who does not mind standing up for her opinion of the silliness we call organized religion, and getting her picture for her drivers license taken with a spaghetti strainer on her head to prove a point; there are at least half a dozen others who feel the same way but are more subdued. Oklahoma, Kansas, and the entire Midwest should become more aware of what's it's people want, and who these people are. Especially the young: they really do represent Tomorrow.

Rescue Missions

I have never been a fan of Christian organizations of any kind, but lately, Rescue Missions have stepped up their level of cruelty. There are homeless people whose issues exceed the expertise of the average shelter volunteer, but would the mythical Jesus Icon have split up a family, thrown them out of the shelter, and left two parents and a five year old boy with no place to sleep? Why did they harm a woman in her seventies, making it impossible for her to work or attend classes? Are her pursuits not important to Rescue Missions? If demoralizing and otherwise harming those who happen to be vulnerable for one reason or another is the method of choice to further one's own agenda, consider the information publicized.

In Case You Missed Church On Sunday

The Kansas interpretation of Freedom of Religion. A secretary at Frankfort High School in Kansas actually told me, in defense of some Christian teenage bullies on campus, that "Christians have rights, too". This was to justify the constant mockery of any religion besides Christianity at school.

In Case You Missed Church On Sunday

In case you missed church on Sunday, there is still a lawsuit on the table against the state of Oklahoma, concerning their offensive affirmation of a preference for one religion over another at their state capital building, in the form of a statue bearing the biblical ten commandments. The Satanist Temple, headquartered in New York, came to the assistance of Satanists in Oklahoma with a blueprint for a statue of Baphomet to grace the same building. The matter has yet to be decided.

The drawing of the proposed statue is quite attractive. I like it. The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that Baphomet and Satan are two distinctly different entities, but the message of the Temple of Satan is still valid. In fact, there are two messages here: first, it is acceptable and admirable, from a spiritual standpoint, to think logically and love one's self; second, it is legal and appropriate to demand equal representation, both inside the state building and outside of it. Christians everywhere should pay close attention to this.

If this is finally settled by building the new statue, rather than removing the offensive christian motif; I intend to make the trip to Oklahoma for the unveiling. It will be a unique experience for my children to photograph and write about in school.

Birds Know How To Deal With Missionaries

A couple of wild birds have acted more sensible than two thousand years worth of generations of humans. The former pope released a couple of non-native doves as a gesture of "peace" and the a crow and a seagull who already lived in the geographic area chased them away. Why couldn't humans have done that with entities released by the church? And how can an organization that isn't peaceful in any way achieve a gesture of peace?

Very smart wild birds. We could all learn a lot from them.

One day, perhaps Christians will learn to stop using unwilling participants as symbols in their endless, meaningless gestures. Each of the doves of this story is a living creature in his own right. Why would the pope assume that the dove would automatically wish to become a part of a statement on the behalf of the most bigoted, dishonest, and ruthless organization on the planet?

Why Can't We Call The Bible Fiction?

So the Christian crowd is now up in arms because the retail industry has become more concerned with truthful labeling of the products they sell. One moment, Christians want everyone, with a few notorious exceptions among their own numbers, to tell the truth. The next moment, they cry for retailers to violate Federal Trade Commission law by selling bibles and stating that the information contained therein is true, rather than fiction! There's just no pleasing some people! Hopefully, all these offended Christians will remember to have Happy Holidays this year!

In Case You Weren't In Church This Sunday

If you were not in church this Sunday in northeast Kansas, perhaps you were outside drinking lemonade across the street! Five year old Jayden Sink, daughter of Jon Sink, of Freshcassette-Creative Compassion, decided to set up a lemonade stand at the Equality House, directly across the street from Westboro Baptist Church. She is donating the proceeds of her enterprise to Planting Peace, a group which promotes environmentalism and non-biased charity. The northeast Kansas Christians at Westboro Baptist Church called the cops on her. When they responded by buying lemonade, they cussed her out and harassed her, after the manner of other northeast Kansas Christians. She remained undaunted, though. The times, they are a'changin', Kansas!

Look who else missed church on Sunday!

Westboro Baptist Church Chickens Out

Amazing. Oklahoma City gets an F-5 tornado, and the very best Westboro Baptist Church can do is pull out their signs and threaten to picket. Gotta love Christianity in Northeast Kansas......NOT! Fred Phelps and Company threatened to picket in Oklahoma today, insisting that "God" sent the tornado to kill people because of Jason Collins's relationship choices. They apparently did not show, frightened away by the patiently waiting bikers.

When is Northeast Kansas gonna get off it's Christian kick?

Sometimes A Mop Sink Is Just A Mop Sink

Once again, it seems to be the end of the world as we know it. A mop sink in the capitol building in Tennessee was mistaken by some very good Christians for a footbath! It seems that there were some grave concerns about the availability of water, with which Muslims wishing to pray could wash their feet prior to doing so.  How dare anyone accomodate prayer in the routine of the faithful in any religion besides Christianity? After all, Christian ministers do not even have to wash up after sexual abuse of minors before prayer! Why should other religions get special preference?

If a person understands his or her need to back away from physical or emotional strata that creates enough imbalence to require ritual or literal "purification" prior to prayer, why does a Christian have a complaint? Is it wrong to humbly seek peace from a higher power? Perhaps Tennessee Christians could learn from the Muslim practice, and be more mindful of certain types of filth, such as sexual abuse, both before and after they recite their Christian prayers. Perhaps they could stop stereotyping the adherants of other religions, as well.

Will society come to a screeching halt if people wash their feet more often?

Relax; no one is going to wash his feet here!

The Jesus Icon Strikes Again

Jack Schaap is a Christian minister from Hammond, Indiana, who recently joined the ranks of child molesting Christian pastors. His fifty-five year old body transported a fifteen year old girl to Wisconsin in order to make his abuse easier, and his family and church-friends are standing up for him while he begs the court to be lenient and not sentence him to ten years in prison! Ya know, this thing the Christians have going on, with ministers who like to have sexual relations with children, seems to have become quite the recurring theme of late. Yet not only is the sexual abuse a recurring theme; we also have these dingbat Christians who seem to prefer the criminals to decent people! Watching this video was interesting. It might even explain why Christians go to church. Funnier stuff than this is hard to find...........

Crazy Kansas Catholics Excited About New Pope

Now that we have a new pope, a bunch of silly-assed, crazy Kansas Catholics seem quite enthusiastic about the whole affair. Perhaps it is something to get excited about; after all, the leader of the Christian world is no longer someone who once said "Hail Hitler" on a regular basis. Here's the thing; Pope Francis has only been pope for a little longer than a day, and he is already dogged by a scandal. It seems that in the late 1970's, he was buddies with folks from drug cartels, and found life as a Catholic priest much more manageable if the poor in his parishes were kept poor and bereft of education and opportunities in life, and if the rich got to continue corruption as usual. So word has it that he supported the kidnappings, by drug lords, of a couple of priests who insisted upon helping people from less affluent parts of Argentina. Cashing in on local and international prohibition laws....some things never change for Christians and the Catholic Church.

Holy Shit! It's A Holy Conclave!

Tommorrow the conclave will begin to choose a new Enabler-In-Chief....or, pope. Christians worldwide will have someone new to listen to reports about child abuse and sexual abuse and encourage these things to continue. There have been some individuals, pictured below, who may have been great leadership choices for the Christian hordes and stampedes, had they been given opportunity, and a couple of them have enjoyed leadership roles. But the church will probably want someone who quietly allows matters, good and bad, to continue as always, and someone who will resist change and progress at the expense of the weak and poor until Mother Earth steps in and cancels everyone's ticket.
