Ya know.........the American people elected President Obama. The republicans have a RESPONSIBILITY to work WITH him. I, for one, am beginning to truly resent the way those who refuse to work with Obama are posturing. If certain republicans don't want to work with the President elected by the people, they need to resign their offices, or ask the people not to elect people they don't want to work with anymore. Of course, that would reflect a case wherein a democracy is no longer a democracy, and it would also force them to reveal the inner, true reasons why they won't sit down and listen to Obama. The hypocrisy, bigotry, and pettiness are all transparent, republicans. Give it up.

Instead of asking people to not vote for candidates they can't/won't work with, they would rather make the privilege to vote contingent on paying income tax...so much easier to control the populace that way. My husband and I have not paid personal income tax these last three years because we have had to take a substantial reduction in pay to keep our retail business alive through this economic downturn. Luckily, we are of an age that we have most things that we need, but it's been a sacrifice. And through these last three years our daughter has been on reduced or free lunch at school (welfare/gasp). So according to that school of thought we should not be allowed to vote, yet the amount of federal and state tax (and I'm not talking about payroll related anything) that our business generates is substantial. That being said, if I, from a personal standpoint, have had to reign in my spending, why not the government also? I understand that my rant isn't particularly the gist of your argument...Obama IS my president even though I didn't vote for him and our elected officials most certainly have a moral, if not legal, obligation to work with him. WELL SAID.
You know, they probably didn't vote for Obama, either, but they work within a system that allows the majority to choose....or is supposed to allow the majority to choose. Knowing that, they should be more than willing to work with the person chosen by the majority. Instead......well.....they play these games. As for making the priveledge to vote contingent upon paying income tax, that becomes dangerous in a democracy. What about college students, or stay-at-home moms? What about people who have disabilities? That is taking away a person's rights because of income, or lack thereof, and getting very close to declaring such a person a non-citizen. Can you imagine the mayhem that would rightfully ensue?
