Look Who Came Home!
Elizabeth Thomas, who has been missing for almost six weeks, and Myra Alissia Freeman, who has been missing for fifteen months, have both been found this week. Thomas had been kidnapped in Tennessee by one of her teachers, who was subsequently given his pink slip in absentee, both she and the fired teacher were found in Northern California, near Yreka. We still do not have a lot of details about Freeman's situation, but we know she is alive and well. She disappeared from her Alabama home, and turned up in El Paso, Texas. It's always a pleasure to see missing persons found alive and well. Thomas's teacher, Tad Cummins did not have any cell service in Yreka, but he has "cell" service now! He is being held without bond.

Ya Mad, Laura? Ya Mad?
Not too long ago, it was brought to my attention, by a neighbor, that Laura Johnson-McNish, the county attorney of Marshall County, Kansas, cheats on her taxes. At first, I didn't believe it, because it is such a pedestrian and corrupt thing for an elected official to do, but my neighbor proved it by directing me to the appropriate website. McNish pays property taxes on a farm, which would not be a problem if McNish actually owned farmland and farmed. As it happens, farming and ranching are prohibited in the Keystone Addition, where she lives, so there is not a legal way her property could be considered a farm. All of her neighbors pay property taxes on residential properties.
Earlier this month, at a hearing that had nothing to do with anyone's property taxes, Ms. McNish expressed some angry feelings at the person who made her tax discrepancies public. Specifically, she wanted a judge to take what was written about her tax evasion into consideration during a sentencing hearing. While the judge probably did this, he asked her if she was "incensed". McNish may be incensed; but why isn't she paying a just and fair amount of property taxes to the community off of which she leaches? Everyone else pays the appropriate amount of property tax, and no one else "farms" on land where farming is not permitted. For that matter, no one has actually been able to find the McNish's farm! Her son drove drunk through a cornfield once, and was never sanctioned, but that was nowhere near Keystone Addition.
If Laura Johnson-McNish is angry or "incensed", perhaps she should remember that Marshall County actually has ample reason to be incensed with her.

Trump Profits From An Act Of War
There are reasons why we demand that those who serve in the office of President divest themselves of any financial conflict of interest. The president is in office to serve ALL Americans, not just one or two in-groups, his family, or himself.
Donald Trump recently told Fox News that he used Tomahawk missiles in response to Assad's sarin gas attack on civilians in Syria. Later, it was discovered that Trump actually owns stock in Raytheon, the company that manufactured the missiles used in the attack. Mr. Trump has yet to sell his stock and he just made almost 100 million dollars because of that attack. This means that we have a president who personally profits from war and from acts of war, not from peace. This is also one of the reasons presidents in the United States are required, by law, to divest themselves of any financial interest that creates a conflict of interest between themselves, their bank accounts, and the American people.

Donald Trump Says Sexual Harrassment Is Okay
Surprise, surprise. After it became public knowledge that Fox News settled some sexual harassment lawsuits on behalf of Bill O'Reilly, Donald Trump took time out of his busy, presidential schedule to publicly comment that O'Reilly should not have to be accountable for his bad behavior, and that behaviors that include sexual harassment should not garner consequences. But then, is anyone really surprised that Trump would opine in such a way? For that matter, is anyone surprised that Trump cannot, as president of the United States, find other, more important things to do?

County Attorney In Kansas Hates The First Amendment
Laura, you never cease to amaze me. Seriously. And I don't mean that as a compliment, either.
When someone has a relative who brings weed into his home, and the homeowner goes up on charges for it, what does his job as a journalist, his appearances in TV documentaries, and his previous ownership of a local newspaper have to do with his case? And why do those things mean he should serve a longer sentence?
How's the farm, Laura?
