Trump Profits From An Act Of War

There are reasons why we demand that those who serve in the office of President divest themselves of any financial conflict of interest. The president is in office to serve ALL Americans, not just one or two in-groups, his family, or himself.

Donald Trump recently told Fox News that he used Tomahawk missiles in response to Assad's sarin gas attack on civilians in Syria. Later, it was discovered that Trump actually owns stock in Raytheon, the company that manufactured the missiles used in the attack. Mr. Trump has yet to sell his stock and he just made almost 100 million dollars because of that attack. This means that we have a president who personally profits from war and from acts of war, not from peace. This is also one of the reasons presidents in the United States are required, by law, to divest themselves of any financial interest that creates a conflict of interest between themselves, their bank accounts, and the American people.

Paul Ryan Is Very Angry With The Army Corps Of Engineers

Some good news, everyone! The Army Corps of Engineers decided not to grant the easement necessary to build the 1,170 mile pipeline in Standing Rock, North Dakota. The pipeline would not only have to go through tribal lands, but under the Missouri River, and the decision was to do this was nixed. President Obama also weighed in on the decision. That may be why Energy Transfer Partners released a statement explaining that when Trump is sworn in, they will go ahead and build their pipeline under Lake Oahe, and under the Missouri River. The problem is......Donald Trump is actually vested in Energy Transfer Partners. Trump has a conflict of interest in this matter.

Paul Ryan is very, very whiny and upset about this. He feels that saying "no" to poisoning the environment is "big government decision making at its worst". It appears that he thinks that a president with a clear conflict of interest, making decisions for his own personal profit, is much better decision making by "big government". Perhaps he is right; impeachment may be a real possibility because of this, if Trump continues to behave foolishly.

Folks In Topeka Upset By Due Process

Troy Allen Robinson is on trial in Shawnee County, Kansas for the stabbing of Oma Shannon Bennett in December of 2012. Recently, it was discovered that his defense attorney had a conflict of interest inasmuch as this case is concerned, and needed to bow out. Robinson now has a new defense attorney. Robinson's next court date is November 8, for a status hearing. All things considered, even the conflict of interest and the appointment of a new attorney, this is rather quick for a trial in which the defendant is charged with first degree murder.

Oma Shannon Bennett

It seems that there is a lot of angst among those who support instant gratification in terms of emotionally responsive justice for this murder victim. That is understandable, from a "feelings" related viewpoint, yet; actual justice cannot be administered in a quick manner simply to gratify the feelings of an angry mob. From the scant bit of information available about this case, there are two apparent problems; first, the evidence which led to the arrest, and second, the amount of preparation involved, connected to this case, prior to court dates in the past.

Local media in Kansas has not reported very much about the evidence that led to Robinson's arrest for murder. By all appearances, it seems that the police in Riley County arrested Robinson because of some statements he made to a third party, specifically, his mother, about having been involved in a crime. While this can probably be introduced during a motions hearing in a pinch, as circumstantial evidence, it is only hearsay. Without more solid evidence, an arrest warrant should not even have been granted. If that is truly all the prosecution has, and it should be hoped that it isn't, there is not much by which to actually connect the defendant to the crime. A guilty verdict under these circumstances could easily lead to a vacated decision or an appeal. It is important that justice be practiced according to the law, not mob mentality.

The second problem which does not appear completely understood by the courtroom crybabies is the need for all legal professionals involved in trying or hearing a case to be impartial. A conflict of interest in a criminal case, on the part of the judge, defense attorney, or the prosecuting attorney can lead to an improper verdict, either guilty or not guilty, and pervert justice. If either attorney, upon review of the facts pertinent to the case, discovers a conflict, the only professional thing to do is ask to be recused. After a new attorney is appointed, that attorney should be granted ample time to prepare the case or prepare the appropriate responses. Everyone is entitled to justice, not only those who can afford the most expensive private lawyers.

Has a motive been established for this murder?

Conflict Of Interest In Kansas

Why would a cop whose employer is the county's sheriff department also hold an elected position on the city council of the county seat in the same county? Are there any possible and likely conflicts of interest in such a case? Just asking.

Karma, Conflict, And Judge Wade McCree

Can you say "conflict of interest"? Or "karma"? Or just "McCreep"? Judge Wade McCree, in Detroit, heard a child support case, after which he threw the defendant in jail, only to boff the plaintiff and eventually have an ongoing affair with her. But then.......she got pregnant! At which time, the affair became a lot less fun. So now, she is suing him for child support. And her other ex is suing him over the conflict of interest. And Detroit is thinking that there may be judges with better judgement out there who can take the honorable Wade McCree's place on the bench. And any divorce proceedings, as his honor is married, will also require equitable division of property. What will happen to Judge McCree if he can't pay his child support?
