Alexis Webber, 2 years old, was last seen in Berwick, Pennsylvania in a stolen yellow 2005 Mustang. The Pennsylvania tag number is HWN 1367. Alexis was wearing a white coat, a blue polka dot shirt, and black pants. The car was said to be driving in the direction of LaPorte, Pennsylvania. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 and speak with local law enforcement.
A Pennsylvania school nurse took it upon herself to refuse to treat a child because the child did not recite the pledge of allegiance to the flag while waiting in the nurse's office. The nurse at Wilson Middle School in Carlisle yelled at the student until she started to cry, and when the student tried to call her mother, the nurse refused to allow that, too. The nurse felt that because of the controversy about new laws concerning religious "liberty", it was her god-given right to refuse service to a child in attendance at the school where she works. Patriotism and devotion, expressed by mindless recitation of a verse with which many Americans do not agree. Nice. This is why Christians should be more like indoor house cats, and excrete their daily devotions in the litter box, rather than at work or around real people.
There are two problems with the pledge. One is that it states that this nation is "indivisible under god", when such a thing is no more possible than a nation being indivisible under Santa Claus, and the other is that the pledge ends with an affirmation that America sports "justice for all". Actually, many Americans do not get the benefits of justice, because while there is usually justice for those who can afford private attorneys, justice for "all" is certainly not a guarantee! Boycott The Pledge got involved on the child's behalf, and have contacted the school to request an apology for the christian nurse.
Billy Hanson, nine years old, was supposed to return to his mother's house in Pennsylvania on September 4, after visiting his dad, Jeffrey Hanson, for awhile. Had he returned home on that date, he would have started school on time.....but guess what? Jeffrey Hanson decided to do something other than simply take his son home after his scheduled visitation was over. He sailed in his yacht, the Draco, to the tiny island of Niue, in the South Pacific, instead. How very sweet and sentimental.
Upon hearing that Mr. Hanson was an avid sailor, the FBI circulated pictures of Mr. Hanson, and his missing son, in some of the very places that Mr. Hanson loves to sail in his yacht. As luck would have it, someone on the small police force of the island of Niue got a tip from a citizen who had seen Mr. Hanson and Billy's picture and recognized them! Now, Jeffrey Hanson is home, in the United States, facing charges for international kidnapping and custodial interference. His yacht has been confiscated, and young Billy has had quite the adventure; definitely a superb "What I Did Last Summer" essay. It's too bad his father was too unconcerned about the start of a new school year to make sure Billy would be in school to write such a paper. Now, it looks as if Mr. Hanson will be visiting with his son via prison plexi-glass windows, if at all.
Never doubt that photo recognition, in missing persons cases, is a great tool, and never be nervous about calling in a tip, if you think you might have seen someone whose picture has been circulated by law enforcement. If you really have recognized a missing child, it's better, just in case you are right, to risk being mistaken and let authorities find out. It made an huge difference to Billy Hanson and his mother.
Whistle blowing. A fun, new concept that really shouldn't represent a necessity. But yet, it does. What a shame that we do not teach history well enough in our public schools to avoid that other necessity of repeating history when we fail to learn an important lesson the first time. Or the second, third, or fourth time, as the case may be.
The subject of the expectation of privacy, and respect for the same, has been in the spotlight many times in American history. We have local and federal laws protecting privacy, and our nation's Constitution addresses it, as well. Verdicts in capital murder cases have been overturned because of governmental abuses of citizens' rights to privacy. A republican president even resigned as a result of the way his administration treated the rights of others to privacy. Anyone remember Watergate? So why was it necessary for Edward Snowden to remind the general public that we still have not learned a damn thing from our own history?
Back in the day, before the internet, we got things done the old fashioned way. A very recently published book titled The Burglary describes the actions of John and Bonnie Raines, and Keith Forsythe whistleblowing without the internet. J. Edgar Hoover, the head honcho of the FBI in 1971, was already notorious for blackmailing and threatening others. Despite American law and the Constitution, he established and sanctioned government practices of blatantly ignoring the rights of American citizens. Digging up dirt and using personal information to which he had no legal right was his most typical tool of blackmail, and it was his policy to encourage all law enforcement agencies to violate the law this way. Granted, he was FBI, not state or local police departments, but we cannot forget what rolls downhill.
Bonnie Raines cased the FBI building in Media, Pennsylvania, and one night, she and her cohorts broke in and stole a bunch of classified documents which outlined directives to snoop illegally, blackmail, threaten, and bypass the rights of anyone and everyone who found themselves at cross purposes with the government, as it concerned J. Edgar Hoover. After finding pertinent bits and pieces of information in their loot, the group anonymously gave it to a journalist for the Washington Post. The attorney general serving at the time asked the Post not to publish this information, and J. Edgar Hoover was furious.......yet, the show went on. Much of the privacy and many of the rights connected to privacy enjoyed by Americans today, along with the ability to question authority from the individual standpoint owes to this anonymous action and risk, taken by these three individuals. J. Edgar Hoover sought to become more powerful than the Truth, but alas! He was unsuccessful. The burglars were never caught, and their identities never came to light until their book was published. What did come to light was the corruption that had engulfed and swallowed all branches of the government at the time.
What isn't known is whether or not J. Edgar Hoover ever stopped to consider the irony of this particular burglary taking place in a town called "Media".
A judge in Northampton County, Pennsylvania thinks he knows when a baby should breastfeed, and when a baby should be weaned. After all, aren't all children cookie cutter clones of each other? Shouldn't their development, by and large, mirror image the development of all other children, as they grow to become more and more sheepishly alike? And why would a mom still breastfeed a baby who is ten months old? Shouldn't all babies be on formula by then?
Jessica Moser was just told by a family law court judge, who isn't named in this article, that she has to stop breastfeeding and put her baby on formula so the baby can spend two nights a week with her non-custodial father. The baby will not take a bottle, and Jessica cannot pump enough for two days. But the judge has mandated that this baby will switch to formula, or he will take all of Jessica's children away from her. Sadly, this kind of crap happens all over the country. In fact, breastfeeding is something women are encouraged to avoid in Northeast Kansas. It seems that the judicial community has found one more brutally effective weapon in it's brutal attack on the American family. Bravo, Northampton County! Today you got famous.
Not every baby can tolerate formula. Celiac disease runs in my family. (this was unbeknownst to me when I had my children) My natural children were all breastfed, and that is probably one of the reasons they are so healthy, and have not exhibited symptoms of celiac disease, themselves, as the autoimmune disease is hereditary. Breast milk, even in perfectly healthy babies, is always better tolerated than formula. One of the reasons that the diapers of breast fed babies are less smelly then the diapers of bottle fed babies is that breast milk is easier for any baby to digest. Also, breast fed babies generally develop more quickly, into more intelligent students who display much more independent thought. Could this be another reason the judge would like to stop this woman from breastfeeding? Hmmm.......Those special education teachers would find themselves unemployed if too many moms breastfed! Also, breastfed babies are less likely to be obese as children or as adults. Formula simply isn't a match, at all, for breastfeeding; and if a baby won't drink it, the point is moot. Is the Pennsylvania judge going to punish a ten month old by sending her to bed with no dinner?
What's wrong with simply giving the mom six months to wean this baby, since babies usually are not weaned overnight, and starting extended visitation then? In six months, this ten month old will be closer to an age when most babies are weaned, able to eat more of what everyone else eats, and able to communicate via spoken word. Why punish a baby just for being a baby?
In April of 2013, Elizabeth Mort, of Pennsylvania, ate a bagel that was made with poppy seeds. Then she went to the hospital and gave birth to a baby girl. The staff at Jameson Hospital in Lawrence County is lucky, because when I go into labor, I always stop at Taco Bell en route, and eat as many seven layer burritos as I can before arriving at the hospital; yet when they did their wonderful drug tests on Mort, with their wonderfully inflated prices for the insurance company to cover, they used a standard of 300 nanograms per milliliter as a guideline of THC, and of otherwise being a doper, rather than the federally accepted 2000 nanograms per milliliter. This allowed the residue from the poppyseed bagel to appear in the test results.
Three days later, while Mort was at home with her new daughter, social services stormed her house and took her baby away. The hospital had telephoned social services with news of a positive drug test, with no mention of the comparison of the results of said drug test to federal standards, and had thus made a false report. While it only took five days for Mort to get her daughter back, it took three years to settle the lawsuit, which was finally settled this past week. The ACLU got involved on Mort's behalf.
Why would a child be taken from a parent over a lab result that was not even current information? Why would a child be taken from a parent over a violation of a prohibition law? After all, we do not routinely remove children from the homes of people who get cited for DWI. Why is marijuana so much more important? If there was no indication of fetal distress because of drugs, why did the hospital order a test for drugs? Why did the hospital order the test without the patient's knowledge? When the test came back flagged as a false positive, why didn't the hospital discuss it with the patient immediately? Was the hospital more interested in snagging a newborn and helping the state to sell it, rather then finding out if the patient had a substance abuse problem? These are all questions that anyone of either gender planning on becoming a parent should want answered before choosing an hospital for the birth.
The ACLU insisted that Jameson Hospital and Pennsylvania come into compliance and stop harassing families, but what about your state? It's clearly time to rethink the importance of family, legalize marijuana, (no, I am NOT a cannabis indulger) or do both.
Today, in Colorado, a seven year old was suspended for throwing an imaginary grenade into a box of imaginary evil people in order to save the world while he was at recess. Apparently, Mary Blair Elementary has rules against any fighting, either imaginary or real. Alex Evans will be fighting the good fight at home for a few days. This is a bit remniscent of an incident last month, in Pennsylvania, when ten year old Melody Valentin was suspended and called a murderer for having a piece of paper in her possession that allegedly bore the one dimensional shape of a gun.
Ya know.....when school administrators take these actions against children, it is usually political. The parents of those children are usually people who don't conform, or who don't have enough money to make the rest of the community happy, and whom everyone is comfortable bullying. Seriously; how often does the principal's child get suspended, even if he actually punches someone? How often does the mayor's child, or the local Christian minister's child, get disciplined or suspended? Definately not as often as the children of people whom others enjoy bullying and pushing around. It's all a big social game, featuring petty adults using children as pawns, all for their own power posturing pleasure. Alex Evans and Melody Valentin have not done anything wrong.
Here's a post about another school, in Arizona, where a bully knocked a small child unconscious on the school, yet even with surveillance, suspending that bully was "asking for too much", or "not proper", or "the wrong approach". That child should just learn to "adjust" to being bullied, and "stop complaining". School, and all the other amenities of a civilized population, are really only here for those who can play along with peer pressure. It's a shame that some school administrators are willing to harm children while they bully the childrens' parents.
A Philadelphia, Pennsylvania police officer punched a woman in the face the other day at a parade. Then, he claimed she threw beer on him, in order to justify his violence. Video footage, however; does not support his claim, but does show beer in the hands of a male parade watcher somewhere in the crowd. All charges have been dropped against the victim, and the police officer is getting fired. I can just say, "Thankyou!"
It's refreshing to see the taxpayors decline to pay the salary of a two hundred pound cop who punches a one hundred pound woman in the face simply for attending a parade.
Watch this. And never doubt again that it only takes a moment in time for something completely unplanned to happen. And if you know who this person is, police in Philadelphia want to hear from you.
Update: A man named Carlos Figuroa Fagot (golleeeee, what a name!) turned himself in today. His family stated that he was very surprised that his actions were recorded on video and that he was horrified and scared when police went ahead and aired it. That's one dangerous creep off the streets for now.
The courts in Pennsylvania had a busy day today! Not only Jerry Sandusky, but Monsignor William Lynn, a cleric who not only had a taste for children himself, but aided and abetted other clerical molestors by reassigning them to new churches with unsuspecting congregations when they ran out of victims who were too scared to stand up for themselves. He would actually make up lies about sending these priests away because of medical problems. He was found guilty of child abuse (you can guess which kind.....he IS, after all, a Catholic priest) but surprisingly, not of conspiracy. I guess he DIDN'T KNOW it's a crime to aid and abet, and completely forgot that God does not like ugly, and the jury felt sorry for his sorry ass. Oh well, he'll only be locked up for three to seven years, but hopefully Rome and Jesus will begin to see that sexual assualt and sexual abuse are not appreciated. The annoying thing is, it is always really difficult to find a booking photo of an arrested Catholic priest. They seem to get away with just handing police a picture of themselves at the pulpit or posing in their robes and imagined halos.
Someone who actually was photographed in handcuffs and doing the "perpwalk" was Jerry Sandusky. The first complaint about his conduct was made in 1998, and his community, Penn State, thought it would be better not to listen. The sight of a child abuser in handcuffs as he is hauled off to jail for for a period of time that will span the rest of his life is beautiful, but all the more so after so many young people who were not deemed worthy of justice waited for so long.
Here's Sandusky getting arrested. Maybe now that he has been found guilty, he can confess his sins to Father Lynn. Maybe there will be more mugshots and pictures of "cleric molestors" doing the perpwalk.
More "People of Walmart"! A Pennsylvania man just got arrested for stripping off his clothes and calmly walking right into a Walmart, stealing a pair of socks, and refusing to listen to police when they attempted to dissuede him from shopping nude. Here it is:
He's being held now on a $50,000 bond. For stealing socks and being naked.
It's the end of the month, time for this blog to award the "Barney Fife" to a police force that has competed admirably with Mayberry's Barney Fife, on The Andy Griffith Show. This month, it goes to Drug Enforcement Agents in Pennsylvania, for successfully raiding the WRONG house and terrorizing the wrong family. Instead of double checking the address and ASKING if they had the right person or persons, they woke the family up, stormed inside, and started pointing guns at people, mostly children.
