Missing Wichita Baby

Seven day old Sophia Victoria Gonzalez Abarca is missing from Wichita, Kansas. Her father came home from work yesterday to find Sophia's mother, Laura Abarca-Nogueda dead and Sophia missing. There was a vehicle that had been thought to have been involved, but the vehicle and its owner has been located, and were not involved, so police have no suspects or leads. The FBI tipline is 1-800-225-5324. If you have any information or think you may have seen this baby somewhere, please call that number and let someone know. Below is a picture of Sophia.

Update: Little Sophia has been found in Dallas, Texas, and there are two suspects in custody.

Update On Nebraska's Amber Alert

The vehicle cited in the Amber Alert for five year old Josue Ramirez-Marinero has been located, so the Amber Alert was cancelled early this morning. Young Josue, however; has NOT been located, so it is still important for the public to be aware that there is still a missing little boy. His mother was positively identified as the woman who was found deceased in Nebraska yesterday, and his eleven month old brother was found in a dumpster. Anyone with information is asked to call the Omaha Police at 402-444-5656.

He's Cute, And I Really Love Him

What an exceptional daughter and older sister this girl will be! Calise dialed 911 when her very pregnant mom had an epilectic seizure, and very shortly thereafter, she got to meet her little brother face to face! What a brilliant and lucky girl!

In Case You Slept Through Church This Sunday

If you slept through church on Sunday, you probably were not in Vatican City, where a topless woman recently kidnapped Baby Jesus from the manger at the nativity and got hauled away by a cop. The cop did not shoot her, by the way.

How come no one ever gets naked and steals Baby Jesus out of a manger when I'm around? I could use the entertainment!

Another False Arrest Lawsuit In The Making

Here's some cell phone footage taken by someone who was harassed by law enforcement in Sandusky, Ohio. The man was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for no reason. Since he was not the driver, he was not required to show identification, and the police had no business asking him for any. Yet they, and when he refused to play their games, the drug dog was summoned. The police also threatened to give his two week old baby to child protective services. What is not shown in this video is the actual arrest for obstruction of justice followed by the man getting tasered. All because he sat quietly in the car while the driver got pulled over.

On Tuesday, Officer Denny, the racist, pos cop, was put on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation that would never have been initiated without the victim's cell phone video. Folks, the minute you get pulled over, the cell phone needs to be put in video mode. You may think you are white enough, law abiding enough, sober enough, ect., to survive a police officer who is paid to supply privatized prisons with laborers and privatized foster care systems with newborn babies to sell to the highest bidders, but money has to be made some way. This officer thought he had a legal way to traffic defenseless humans.

Pennsylvania Judge Tells Mom Not To Breastfeed

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

A judge in Northampton County, Pennsylvania thinks he knows when a baby should breastfeed, and when a baby should be weaned. After all, aren't all children cookie cutter clones of each other? Shouldn't their development, by and large, mirror image the development of all other children, as they grow to become more and more sheepishly alike? And why would a mom still breastfeed a baby who is ten months old? Shouldn't all babies be on formula by then?

Jessica Moser was just told by a family law court judge, who isn't named in this article, that she has to stop breastfeeding and put her baby on formula so the baby can spend two nights a week with her non-custodial father. The baby will not take a bottle, and Jessica cannot pump enough for two days. But the judge has mandated that this baby will switch to formula, or he will take all of Jessica's children away from her. Sadly, this kind of crap happens all over the country. In fact, breastfeeding is something women are encouraged to avoid in Northeast Kansas. It seems that the judicial community has found one more brutally effective weapon in it's brutal attack on the American family. Bravo, Northampton County! Today you got famous.

Not every baby can tolerate formula. Celiac disease runs in my family. (this was unbeknownst to me when I had my children) My natural children were all breastfed, and that is probably one of the reasons they are so healthy, and have not exhibited symptoms of celiac disease, themselves, as the autoimmune disease is hereditary. Breast milk, even in perfectly healthy babies, is always better tolerated than formula. One of the reasons that the diapers of breast fed babies are less smelly then the diapers of bottle fed babies is that breast milk is easier for any baby to digest. Also, breast fed babies generally develop more quickly, into more intelligent students who display much more independent thought. Could this be another reason the judge would like to stop this woman from breastfeeding? Hmmm.......Those special education teachers would find themselves unemployed if too many moms breastfed! Also, breastfed babies are less likely to be obese as children or as adults.  Formula simply isn't a match, at all, for breastfeeding; and if a baby won't drink it, the point is moot. Is the Pennsylvania judge going to punish a ten month old by sending her to bed with no dinner?

What's wrong with simply giving the mom six months to wean this baby, since babies usually are not weaned overnight, and starting extended visitation then? In six months, this ten month old will be closer to an age when most babies are weaned, able to eat more of what everyone else eats, and able to communicate via spoken word. Why punish a baby just for being a baby?

Do You Know This Baby?

The other day, in Santa Ana, a woman either jumped from a moving truck, was pushed out of a moving truck, or was hit by a moving truck, and her injuries were so severe that she died shortly after being taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, she died before she was able to tell anyone her name, and had no identification of any kind on her person. That, alone, is very sad; but there is more to this story. A baby girl who appears to be around ten months old was found lying beside her on the road, and no one knows who she is or where to find her family. She desperately needs someone to recognize her and come forward and tell authorities is Santa Ana where to find the rest of her family. The number for Santa Ana police is 714-245-8390, and Orange County Crime Stoppers will take tips about this, as well, at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.

To be in an accident and lose one's mother is bad enough for a child this young, but to have such an incident separate one permanently from one's family is unimaginably tragic.

Kansas Allowed Daycare To Kill A Baby

On February 27, five month old Caleb Stewart, of Scranton, Kansas, died at the home of his daycare provider, Tara Johnson. He died, somehow, while sleeping on a dog bed on the floor, but an actual cause of death has not been established by the coroner. Many complaints had already been filed against Tara Johnson with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and Child Protective Services. The complaints ranged from dirty surroundings to lack of supervision of children and Tara's boyfriend (not an employee of the daycare or a licensed childcare provider) caring for the children while Tara shopped and ran other errands. Caleb's mother, Misty Durham, has been met with evasive answers and denials from everyone involved, from those at the home where her son died to Chad Taylor, the District Attorney, to whom the case has been assigned.

This seems to be the practice in Kansas inasmuch as regulating daycares, schools, and other institutions that have contact with children. There's a daycare in Frankfort, Kansas where the spouse of the proprietress cares for the children on a semi-regular basis, although he is not licensed to do so. Their adult children also consume alcohol and other drugs while the children are present. There's another daycare in the same town which allows it's charges to run about, unsupervised, between the pool and the library. Not only are these indiscretions an invitation to liability; they create a tragedy waiting to happen, yet nothing is done. Frankfort High continues to employ a guidance counselor who abandoned a female high school freshman alongside the highway four miles away from the school, all by herself, and when she got lost, he told no one. He looked for her a little bit by himself, but when it was time for him to go home, he went home for the day, not even bothering to tell the student's parents or make a police report. Child Protective Services have actually removed children from the homes of parents who treat their children that way, yet a teacher who does the same thing is allowed to continue. Is this because it is less dangerous for a child to get lost, wandering around four miles away from town, after being abandoned by a school employee, rather than a parent? Or is it because the only action Child Protective Services could take in a situation such as that would be to insure that the school employee is fired, with no removal of the child, and therefore no money to be made via an ongoing case or a questionable adoption pending the termination of parental rights? It seems, also, that the same possibility exists in the case of the daycare: a caucasion  baby who could be taken from his parents and put up for adoption, or sold to the highest bidder after parental rights had been terminated would be a prime target for Child Protective Services, but since most judges will not go along with removals of children from the homes of the parents over bad choices of daycares or schools, Child Protective Services ignores violations and crimes of daycare providers and teachers, focusing instead upon individual parents who make easier targets. Grim.

Sadly, Caleb's case did not get much attention from the media. The most complete information about it seems to be a piece from WIBW, written in May of this year. Caleb's case has gotten even less attention from law enforcement and the District Attorney, and now, almost eight months later, there have been no arrests, and Tara Johnson is still caring for children in her home! Apparently, no one who was in the home at the time of Caleb's death has agreed to a polygraph, and when concerned voters and taxpayers in Northeast Kansas call law enforcement and the District Attorney with questions about this case, both agencies respond by hanging up! What an amazing message to send to voters! The lead investigator in this case is Erin Thompson, who can be reached at 785-368-2242; and the district Attorney, Chad Taylor, can be reached at 785-233-8200.

Kansas Scum On The Run Alert

In Salina, Kansas today, a creep by the name of Antonio Brown somehow got away froma holding cell in Saline County, after being transported from Mitchell County, to be sentenced for killing his girlfriend's fourteen month old baby boy. He is at large now. No one knows how he escaped, either. Perhaps someone at the jail asked him to take out the trash. Just call the police department most local to you if you see him or know his whereabouts.

Someone Shut Paul Ryan Up, Please.

Geesh. My teenagers have more realistic notions about the world and the population at large than Paul Ryan has. Yes, rape IS another form of conception, but does Paul Ryan want to encourage it? It certainly looks that way. I really can't think of a better way to become one of the forty-seven percent of Romney's instant "throw-aways" who "do not matter".

Throw The Book At This Kansas "Mother"!

"Testimony begins in the trial of an Emporia mother accused of leaving her newborn baby in a dumpster. Christina Devine is charged with attempted murder.

Prosecutors say she gave birth to a baby boy in October 2010m wrapped him in a trash bag, placed him in a dumpster, then went to work.

Tuesday, jurors heard from the man who found the baby who testified he remembers seeing the baby's hands moving up and down and then seeing dried blood on his head.

Prosecutors call the crime premeditated but lawyers for Devine say she did not intend to harm the baby."

................There's the whole article from ABC News, KTKA, in it's entirety. We almost don't need to know any more than what's reported. If this new mom did not want her newborn, there are plenty of people in Kansas who would love that baby, if given the chance. She did not have to leave him in a dumpster to die. Hopefully, Kansas will throw the book at her, and the rest of her childbearing years will be spent in prison, rather than getting pregnant again, and repeating her crime.

Breast Fed Babies

Wow. I really don't understand why the subject of breast feeding one's children is such a big deal. That's how I fed my kids. That's how all babies were fed before bottles and formula were invented. Not that I would breast feed a child as big as the boy on the Time Magazine cover......I always stopped nursing as soon as I discovered that I was pregnant again. The youngest was nursed until he was almost three. It worked out very well; no sour-milk bottles, no getting up at night to fix bottles, no formula. Even the best formula is no match for mother's milk. Diapers of breast fed babies are not as stinky as diapers from bottle fed babies, too. Of course, at work, I had to use a breast pump. And I have had many a rude boss or co-worker who did not understand, but I did it anyway, and among sacrifices that a parent can make for a child, that one is rather small.

A dynamic that goes hand in hand with breastfeeding is that, even if by default, one generally has to HOLD one's baby while breastfeeding. With all the the benefits of breastfeeding for the baby, that is probably the most important one. It would be interesting to conduct a study on mothers who abuse or murder their children, and determine how many of those mothers breastfeed. I cannot imagine wanting to harm a baby while I hold and nurse that baby.

Once again, I really don't understand why breastfeeding garners such a huge public reaction. It isn't sexual, and before bottles and formula, it was the only way to feed a baby. I also had no idea that by feeding my babies, I was inadvertantly breaking the law in a couple of the states where I publicly nursed. Totally amazing; children can become the victims of terrible crimes and justice never be served, but there's a problem with a mother feeding her child the way nature intends. This population gets worked up about the wrong issues.

Samantha; a proud, breastfeeding mom.

Tales From The Crypt; The Baby Is Still Alive

Last week, in Argentina, a baby was born prematurely. The mother was told that the baby showed no signs of life, and the doctor duly pronounced the little girl dead. Then, she was unceremoniously sent to the city morgue.

Twelve hours later, the mother was discharged from the hospital, and wanted to see her baby one more time. So she and her husband went to the morgue, and when they opened their daughter's casket, she cried! No joke; doctors apparently make mistakes. Hopefully, they thought to take a carseat with them when they went to visit their daughter at the morgue! The baby's name is Luz Milegros; "miracles of light", loosely translated. Hopefully, there will not be much red tape involved in trading in the death certificate for a birth certificate!

Aisha Khan And Other Found People

Today has been a good day. Aisha Khan, reported missing from Overland Park, Kansas, was found last night. While many people are frustrated because she apparently was not in immediate danger, the fact that she is safe is good news. Also found was Lauren Weinberg, who had been lost in a snowstorm in Arizona since December 11. She survived by melting snow in a water bottle for drinking water. Her cell phone battery was dead, and she was unfamiliar with the part of Arizona where she got lost.

Some else was also found. Ted Tzal had been missing for thirtyfive years,  and his sister decided to give DNA to help rule him out as a victim of the serial killer John Wayne Gacy, of Florida, who was executed in 1994. One thing led to another, and Tzal was located, alive and well, in Oregon! Instead of closure, his family got another person for their holiday shopping and Christmas card list. He actually had an interest in the Gacy case, and had read books about it, but had never considered that during his thirtyfive year absence, someone may wonder if he had been connected to Gacy, as a possible victim! That's him, in the picture on the left. All too often, a sheriff has to knock on a door to inform a family of a death, but this time, it was quite the opposite. It's probably the best Winter Holiday ever for Tzal's family.

One more for the "found list"......In Philadelphia, Pa., a newborn girl was found yesterday in a cardboard box on a sidewalk. She still had her umbelical cord, and was wrapped in a blanket, a bathrobe, and a sweater. She was also lucky she was found shortly after she was abandoned. Her prognosis is good.

A Winter Solstice Blessing

Turkey has always had a lot of seismic activity, because three continental plates, Eurasian, Arabic, and African, meet there. Here is a map, with the eastern city of Van, which took most of the damage of the 7.3 quake that happened on October 23, highlighted.

As of today, October 25, there are over four hundred dead, and that number will probably rise, as at least two thousand are missing. That area also got a lot of rain following the earthquake, making rescue efforts more difficult than they already are.

Buildings and cars, mangled together. Sadly, lots of people are also still inside of some of those buildings. Below are buildings that will have to be carefully dismantled while people are rescued. At this point, survivors need almost everything, from food and shelter to means of communication with family members. The one item they probably need the most is clean drinking water.

There are always miracles, though. This is Azra. Her name means "maiden", or "pure" in Arabic. She is two weeks old, and was born three weeks early. She was trapped in some of the rubble for about two days, yet......she lives! She was pulled out alive. And you know what else? Her mother survived, too!

Another Really Sorry Story

This is Jewell Hendricks. A Utah court has just accepted her guilty plea to the murder of one of her two infant sons. According to the story offered by her husband, which, by the way, does not match up, detail for detail, from beginning to end, she suffocated one of the twins out of frustration, because she thought having one baby would be easier. Easier. But then, he explains, it was an accident. Which is it, husband? Deliberate suffocation and accidents are two different types of event.

Her attorney also goes on to tell the public that she has a diminished mental capacity, and that she has "she has the mentality of a twelve to sixteen year old". Ahem..........when I was twelve, I knew better than to kill babies. Also, while sixteen is not a great age to have children, many teenage moms bring up children without committing murder. But this does bring up an interesting question about her baby-daddy: what the hell does a guy see in a girl with a diminished mental capacity? Is she just easier to use? Why the f*&# would a man have children with someone who's thoughts and actions were like a twelve year old's? This whole situation, in my opinion, really says as much about the "dad" as it does about the mom.

One more thing........if Mr. Defense Attorney knew she had a diminished mental capacity, why didn't he take this to trial and argue this? Now this woman is going to prison with a diminished mental capacity. I am also wondering who hired him......was it the baby daddy? And if the mom, or someone who truly had her best interests at heart hired the attorney, instead, would this have ended in a guilty plea? Would more investigation, possibly of the baby-daddy been done? Is this attorney covering for him? I really hope this girl copped that plea because she is really guilty. If she's not, prison is definately not the place for her.
