Another Disgusting Cop Story

Detective Erin Thompson, of the sheriff's department in Shawnee County, Kansas, has found her way to a paid vacation because she falsified evidence in criminal cases she investigated. Specifically, it was discovered that she stated that she had spoken with witnesses when, in fact, she had not. Now the Kansas Bureau of Investigations is investigating Officer Thompson and a number of cases that were tried in court, hinging on the false information given by Thompson.

One such case is involved the death of a five month old little boy named Caleb Stewart. His mother left him at daycare and went to work, only to pick him up at the hospital after he died at daycare. He had been placed in a closet on a dogbed, and when the unofficial "volunteer" at the daycare found him, he was not breathing. She did not dial 911, but called the actual babysitter, instead. Paramedics were not summoned for at least ten more minutes. The babysitter's boyfriend was "unofficially present", and the daycare had lost its license to be a daycare......facts which were not disclosed to Caleb's parents.

Erin Thompson did not find anything criminally amiss in the scenario. Neither did Chad Taylor, the District Attorney in Topeka. His office hung up on anyone who called with questions about the case. Many questions were never properly answered in Caleb's case, and discrepancies between the findings of the autopsy and the statements made by those present when Caleb died were never explained. Hopefully, when the Kansas Bureau of Investigations conducts its probe of Detective Erin Thompson's cases, they will find some answers for Caleb's parents.

Former Kansas Republican Lawmaker Is Also A Deadbeat Dad

At the left is a picture of what a Republican representative looked like, back in the early eighties. It is also a picture of what a deadbeat dad looks like. Paul R. Hess, who is now in Washington, serving as the chairman of the King County Republicans 46th District, represented Shawnee County in Kansas during the early eighties, when he and Anne Schroer divorced and she was awarded custody of their three sons. He did not think the court was serious when it ordered him to pay child support, and fled the country to evade charges of theft and to defy custody orders. Anne Schroer was forced to fly to Egypt to retrieve her children. There's some good, old fashioned, responsible budget balencing and family values!

Paul Hess owes his ex-wife hundreds of thousands of dollars in back child support and interest. After she moved back to Kansas, she also moved the child support collection back to Kansas, but no state where she lived after the divorce actually did an efficient job of collecting child support. Now, the former Republican representative and his attorney are stating that the court order has somehow become "dormant", or "expired"! A mortgage does not "expire". A student loan or an auto loan will not "expire"! Not even a utility bill simply "goes dormant" or "expires". The truth is, a court order for child support does not "expire" when it is unpaid until the demise of the obligee.

How interesting that Republicans, especially in Kansas, rant on and on about how only inferior people ever rely upon government assitance, and how family values must always be upheld; they one of their own scoffed the very law that was designed to keep divorced mothers and children from needing government assistance in the first place! And committing custodial interferance, to boot! It looks as if Mr. Hess has made some substantial donations to the Republican party recently, while still refusing to pay his child support debt. Perhaps the Republican party should cancel the donation and reroute it to Mrs. Schroer, and while they are at it, perhaps they should reroute Mr. Hess's entire salary to her until his child support is paid.

It's Legal To Commit A Misdemeanor In Topeka

I have known for quite some time that Kansas has a serious problem with lunatics making serious decisions, but now, authorities in Topeka are no longer using due process for misdemeanors. Only felonies, which must, at the direction of federal authorities, be prosecuted. No kidding. Chad Taylor, District Attorney of Shawnee County announced, "Under current constraints, we do not have the necessary resources to prosecute misdemeanors that occur in Topeka and simultaneously fulfill our statutory obligations. This decision will have no effect on felony crimes or crimes occurring outside of Topeka. We will continue to vigorously prosecute all felonies that occur in Shawnee County as well as misdemeanors that occur beyond the boundaries of Topeka"........ksnt

So what does this mean? Lots of sex offenses are misdemeanors. Does this mean that offenders can do whatever they want to any victim they choose, and just stop short of committing a felony? What about domestic violence? Is wife beating okay, now? Drunk driving is usually a misdemeanor, so is vandelism. What about child abuse? Can I key my neighbor's car when he parks in my spot? Can shoplifters loot the stores, as long as they only take so much at one time? I think I see insurance rates for running a business rising already.............

This is really a stupid idea. I think it would have been smarter if Chad Taylor had informed Topeka that he was going to ignore violations of prohibition laws, instead. Then, only victimless crimes would be ignored, and Shawnee County's judicial sytem would find it's productivity at an alltime high.....no pun intended! Oh wait........that can't happen. Victimless violations of prohibition laws are usually felonies, these days, while sexual assualts of children and domestic violence, even with fatal results, are usually misdemeanors.
