Life Sentence For Dallas Bond

Dallas Bond, the Brown County, Kansas dispatcher who once trolled Northeast Kansas for underage sex crimes victims, has received a life sentence for the same.

Prior to getting caught by police, Mr. Bond had stolen handcuffs, leg irons, a radio, and some official looking shirts with logos from the Brown County, Kansas sheriff department, where he worked as a dispatcher. These items were recovered, but not until they were used while he kidnapped and sexually assaulted a child. There is a pervasive belief on the part of Kansans that this type of crime does not occur in Kansas because so much of Kansas is rural. This is error, and it is overlooking the obvious: there are few surveillance cameras, few eyewitnesses, and unreliable cell phone service in much of the "country"...or commercial farmland in Kansas. In combination with school administrations who violate the federal laws concerning child safety, "the country" in Kansas is actually very dangerous for children.

This is where another child, in Frankfort, Kansas, was abandoned by a guidance counselor. Was it done in the expectation of an encounter with someone pretending to be a police officer? Everyone involved has been advised not to talk by a local attorney.

Resume Of A Kansas Youth Pastor

In November of last year, a Northeast Kansas youth pastor by the name of James Bugbee was arrested for sexual assault of a minor. For reasons only known to the shadow, this matter only got nominal notice and coverage from local media, and a lot of people in Northeast Kansas are unaware that a youth pastor of Washington Christian Church in Kansas went to court for molesting a child. Last week, he was sentenced to sixty-four months, with credit for time served since his arrest. This garnered even less attention in the news. Fortunately, the court was more impressed than the media with Reverend Bugbee's accomplishments. Sixty-four months is the longest sentence with which a first time offender can be sentenced for this crime in Kansas. But shouldn't all the churches be proud enough of Reverend Bugbee to announce his evangelical talents everywhere? Should parents in Washington County Kansas and surrounding areas have a chance to peruse his resume in the sex offender registry prior to allowing children to attend church?

If I appear To Have Overlooked Something

If it seems to the reader that there are things I should include on this site, either in the form of posts, or as the subjects of pages or categories, don't despair. There are things occurring locally which have attracted my notice, but which, also, have not played out completely in their respective arenas at this point. From state legislation to open lawsuits, (Northeast Kansans really don't understand compliance with federal law) there are reasons for the timing of media coverage for certain events, and that includes websites such as this one. One does not use unripe fruit for jam, and vintage wine does not age in the blinking of an eye.
