Guidance Counselor At USD 380 In Kansas Lies To A Parent

Interesting. In a state that allows students to transfer to different schools, outside of the student's home district, Tom Schroeder, the guidance counselor of Frankfort School in USD 380, noticed a parent in the public library who had tried to do this and accosted her in front of everyone about it. He insisted that Kansas offers no such options, which is contrary to what the superintendent had told the parent. Tom Schroeder's inappropriately and violently intoned rant was completely false, as the Topeka Capital Journal ran an article casually addressing the subject of transportation for out of district students! He may look enough like a circus clown to dance circles around the average frankfurter about this, but the parent he verbally attacked in public had actually heard an attorney at a USD 380 school board meeting discuss the ease and legal access Kansas parents have to schools outside their districts. So why did this parent have a problem? It all turned out to be a handful of teachers and a principal who do not understand what FERPA means. That's right, boys and girls, it wasn't legal to discuss, with cohorts, the horrors of parental disagreement with teacher criminality without a release of information from said parents. No more legal than a guidance counselor publicly yelling at the top of his lungs, before witnesses and cell phone cameras, about his lack of agreement with the parents of his students. Yet another reason to send one's children elsewhere for school; four or five children were turned into potential witnesses. Way to go, Frankfort. Thank the Gods for cell phone video, as well.

Something that the school in Frankfort would probably like to lose in the midst of all the faculty theatrics and administrative circus stunts is the reason a parent initially desired to send her children to school outside of the district. Tom Schroeder gets away with not only disrespect and public violations of federal confidentiality laws, but with driving student away from school property for sporting events and leaving them with no supervision. One child was abandoned by herself, and only made it home because she accepted a ride from a stranger. The rest of Frankfort Kansas, seven hundred and fifty people or so, thought this was funny, and the school board finds his tenure acceptable. This may be one of the reasons Governor Brownback recently signed a bill eliminating tenure for public school teachers. It sucks for the teachers who are decent, but one or two creeps like the above described guidance counselor ruins the profession for everyone.

In Hawaii, a man was recently convicted of second degree child endangerment for doing something similar, only the distance in this case was only a mile. The age of the child involved was not shared. The distance at which the Frankfort guidance counselor  abandoned his student was four miles. And when he realized she was officially missing, his response was that of going home and having dinner. Here's what the Hawaii judge, Kathleen Watanabe, had to say about cases like this: She said that it is dangerous for children to walk alongside the road due to potential pedophiles.  (Yahoo news)

Why would anyone of reasonable genetic variation want to send a child to Frankfort? Especially while Tom Schroeder is employed?

Civil Rights Reminder For School

School supplies are already being pushed in Walmart. It isn't even August yet. Here in Kansas, something that never gets enough attention in public school is the civil rights issue that was won in the Supreme Court in 1963 by Madalyn Murry, concerning prayer and religion in school.....specifically...that prayer and religion legally do not belong in public school. As long as a public school is, indeed, a public school, and gets funding from the tax dollars of it's community, it cannot lawfully mention religion at all, except during classes that teach about the Inquisition, or about the nefarious influence of the Catholic Church during the last millennium, or about the pedophile priests we have running about these days. Encouraging Christianity at school is actually a federal crime, which Northeast Kansas generally ignores. Many schools will attempt to ignore the law about this in various ways, but it has been the law for fifty years to resist the urge to harass students, especially when favoring one religion over another.

Warren Jeffs Simply Does Not Want To Quit

Warren Jeffs, the Mormon preacher-dude who went to prison for life plus twenty years because he decided that a handful of teenage and preteen girls should live with him as sex slaves, (apparently, that's "wives" in Mormon parlance) still has the cooperation of enough accomplices to present a danger to his victims while incarcerated. Despite losing his phone priveledges, he has begun a rather ambitious reorganization project for his whole sect of the church. Most pedophiles just go to jail and stay there, until they are released, then they pose for the camara and say "cheese", so that we can view thier profiles on sex offender registries, and keep our kids away from them. Not this pastor. He now wants to redo everything in his church, including who is married to who, (!!) and force everyone to swear absolute loyalty to him as if he were sorta like "God", himself. That's almost like a mob boss, or an organized crime ring, except I have not heard of anyone besides religious nuts telling others whether or not they could stay married.

When drug dealers and other slime attempt this kind of mass manipulation of others from their prison cells, they are usually stopped, on those occasions when they are caught. Prisons are discouraged from allowing criminal activities and intimidation from their "guests". Until recently, Warren Jeffs's royal highness was even using cell phones to communicate with groups of people, even at the possible inclusion of former victims. Why? Other pedophiles don't have those priveledges. Perhaps it is time to consider that the people, other church people, who help this minister victimize folks, are aiding and abetting crimes. Perhaps it is time to tell Reverend Jeffs that he may not communicate with the outside world anymore.

The curious aspect of this is that there are over ten thousand people who actually still listen to Warren Jeffs. These are people who want to tell our lawmakers and the government that while they understand the laws, including those concerning child abuse, they feel that their diety allows them to overlook those laws, and that our judicial system should, for Jesus, look the other way and not bother Warren Jeffs or other Mormons when they sexually abuse children. To be fair, the Catholic Church is guilty of this, too. Bishop Robert Finn is one of the foremost examples. But while prosecuting a Catholic priest presents a few challenges, once said priest is incarcerated, he is usually not aided and abetted by his parishoners in various probation violations and in commission of the same crimes. And almost never to the tune of thousands of people at a time. To date, there is no record of an incarcerated priest delivering mass via cell phone in violation to prison rules and sentencing guidelines.

Speaking of electronic communiques, why, oh why, have our lawmakers been distracted by nonsense like SOPA, and attempts at extraditing people like Kim Schmitz, of Megaupload, and also of New Zealand, when there are convicted criminals in our own prison system using much simpler means of electronic communication to do much more harm?
