Private Message

Remember that night, just over a year ago, when you saw the drunk eighteen year old, driving, but failed to call the cops on him? You thought you were doing him a favor, didn't you? You know who you are, Northeast Kansas female who works at a care home! You thought that, although this young person thumbs his nose at our laws pretty much all the time, he is somehow special, and should not face the same accountability for his guilt that others should face, even others who are not guilty of any crime. So instead of copying his plate number and duly giving it to law enforcement, you followed him, to make sure he got home safely. You didn't give a tinker's damn about anyone else's safety, particularly any victim he might have. You only cared about the one who violates the law.

Later, that same year, he got into an auto wreck. He was drunk; his mother went about several different towns, going out of her way to inform anyone who would listen that her boy was not drunk, only for the next day's newspaper to announce charges for drunk driving in that accident. His victims, as fate would have it, were his close friends. How about that? All of them suffered very serious injuries, and if you had made the call, when you first noticed his drunk ass driving around, it might not have had to happen. You arranged for legal favor for someone just because you felt that favor should be granted to the filth you love, even if such favor is dangerous and undeserved. How do you sleep at night?

I don't care how "close knit" you find your town. Would an untimely funeral have made it more "close knit"? Is perversion of justice worth it?

Rest In Peace, Freddie Gray

There is a reason why many police officers do not like to be photographed and recorded while on duty. It has a lot to do with evidence, proof, irrefutable statements to community, and with accountability. Police officers often are not fond of answering to the communities they serve when they abuse others, and in some communities, racism and bigotry replace the law. Freddy Gray's spine was crushed during an arrest in Baltimore, Maryland. He later died, and police in Baltimore have admitted that there wasn't actually a reason to arrest Mr. Gray. There are statements from five of his assailants, but one of them refused to cooperate, citing his fifth amendment rights against self incrimination. Fortunately, one of Mr. Gray's friends turned on his cell phone camera and began filming.

And, for your reading pleasure, here's a list of the names of the officers who were involved in Gray's untimely death. Rest in peace, Freddie Gray.

An Arrest Might Help

In the gloomy retrospect of young Micheal Brown's funeral yesterday, a question seems to keep getting asked here and there, on various news websites and on local TV news: now that the funeral is over, what can we do to effect productive change and ensure justice for Michael Brown and his family? Here's a quick answer that could have saved quite a bit of trouble in the first place.....arrest Darren Wilson, the officer who murdered Michael Brown almost three weeks ago. Had an arrest been made immediately, and had the officer been held just as accountable as Michael Brown would have been, had the situation been reversed, no one would have ever felt the need to riot.

In other news, the ACLU got involved in the career of Officer Gofuckyourself, featured in the video above, and effective August 20, he is no longer on the force. Unfortunately, the citizens of Missouri are probably still paying his salary.

Tears

You will never be forgotten. Your talent and vision will yet find a way to surface in the river of blood through the sands of time. My blood and yours have mixed and melded into permanent facets in Life itself, and my life would not have been the same without you. There will always be a place in my heart for you. Blessed be.

Anonymous Has A Message Concerning Aaron Swartz

By all accounts, Aaron Swartz was a brilliant and creative young man. His absence will certainly make the world a sadder and duller place. He was only twenty-six years old, and was a serious advocate for freedom of information and the first amendment. There really wasn't a reason for America's judicial system to harass him to the extent of charging him with felony crimes, and it is a shame that Aaron died so young. But what has this got to do with Westboro Baptist Church? It's hard to say, yet they have still publicly discussed picketing Aaron's funeral. In response, Anonymous sent them a message. Here it is:

That said, Westboro Baptist Church wisely resisted the urge to stand outside today, in Chicago, where the funeral was held, with stupid signs. That is good, but here is one very disturbing question about all this: why was Aaron Swartz facing more prison time than murderers?

More: Anyone with intel on the activities or plans of Westboro Baptist Church is invited to share it with Anonymous at OpAngel@hushmail.com

Anyone in Northeast Kansas up to that?

Rumors Of My Demise Are Greatly Exaggerated

Amazing. A man in Brazil discovered that his family was planning a funeral for him, and when he went to his mom's house to tell her to call it off, they were having the wake!!! Gilberto Araujo actually interrupted his own funeral! His mom didn't mind, though, once she got over the initial shock! A case of mistaken identity at the morgue led to this situation. At least Gilberto did not have to contend with Westboro Baptist Church in order to get inside!

"Son, you are going to give me a heart attack someday!"
Happy news is always great!

Westboro Baptist Church Wants To "Attend" Whitney Houston's Funeral

The strange, angry bunch of picketing lunatics known as Westboro Baptist Church state that they will picket Whitney Houston's funeral. Normally, they picket the funerals of gay men and soldiers as a way of telling us all how much God hates us because we refuse to discriminate against the Gay community or the Jewish community, but today, they announced a picket of Whitney Houston's funeral. This is an ironic, but not unexpected decision. Whitney's last public performance shortly before she died happened to be a rendition of Jesus Loves Me.
