Donald Trump Has Yet To Visit Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria has knocked out all the power on the island of Puerto Rico, in addition to completely flooding it. Anywhere a person might go involves wading or swimming, and there is virtually no wifi or cell phone service. Could this be why Donald Trump has not bothered to visit Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria? President Obama would have bothered. Even while campaigning for president during 2012, he immediately cancelled his campaign stops in order to survey the damage caused on the East Coast by Hurricane Sandy. Many, many people in New Jersey and New York were also left without electricity, but that did not stop President Obama from responding to his constituents.

Anyone who needs to find out if a friend or relative in Puerto Rico is safe can or call the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration's Office in Washington DC at 202-800-8133 or 202-778-0710. The island's government radio station, WIPR, can be reached at 787-777-0940 and 787-766-0505. Puerto Rico's disaster relief team can be emailed at maria1@prfaa.pr.gov, and, of course, the Red Cross is accepting donations and training volunteers.

Maybe Donald Trump is waiting for electricity and wifi before he visits Puerto Rico. He is, after all, not accustomed to any sort of inconvenience or difficulty.

Of course the people in the town you are sucking dry don't want you to get too comfortable. They really don't owe you lodging and warmth. You have a disability check, and it is your responsibility to spend it on shelter. The population in whichever town from which you are currently sponging has a responsibility to provide a basic infrastructure for it's real people with real lives, not for people who have turned up their noses to responsibility. You don't have a real life because you don't spend your resources on real things, such as shelter. Now, no one wants to shelter you. No one wants to give you Mountain Dew, either. What is left for you to do? Funny you should ask! Here's an idea: take however much you need from your monthly disability check and use it as a deposit on a room or an efficiency. Sign a lease agreement. Move in at your earliest convenience. Then........get a job, so you can pay the rent. See? That's pretty easy. Now go do it, and shut up!

P.S. Not everyone realizes this, but I have walked in your shoes. I was very close to someone else who walked in your shoes, too. What we both found is that it really works out better to take responsibility.
