Here's the video I thought was so interesting. Your mention of a parade reminded me of it.

Kansas Public Schools And The Supreme Court

Here we go again. The Supreme Court of Kansas has ruled, once again, that the Republican dominated Kansas legislature has failed the public schools in Kansas by refusing to properly fund them.

The Supreme Court ruled in February of this year that the state is not adequately funding the schools, and the legislature pretended to fix the problem. The court has now ruled that an acceptable budget for schools must be passed and in place by June 30, or schools must remain closed. The schools must remain closed? That seems like a tall order in a country where all children under the age of sixteen years are legally obligated to attend school, except in rare cases wherein children have graduated early. It seems much more likely that Kansas public schools could go into receivership.

The crux of the issue here is the distribution of funds between richer and poorer school districts. Kansas, in an ongoing effort to resist Brown vs. the Board of Education, continues to craft its geographic school districts in a deliberately unequal manner. The Kansas legislature could easily remedy this by consolidating schools, county by county, eliminating the need for multiple school boards and multiple administrations within a county. All of the counties and their school boards would answer to a central authority, the state. This would save money, and make equitable distribution much more possible. If the Kansas legislature would just accept this, and stop resisting the Constitution, the Supreme Court would not have any reasons to stop public schools in Kansas from opening in August for the school year of 2016-2017.

To Jack

Sitting in my old and dusty room
I tell myself that things will change
But you see, when I wake up from my dreamin'
It's still the same, I can't believe you've gone away

Writing letters by the candlelight
I look for words to bring you back
Can't you see, it won't let go of me
Please let me be and set me free

'Cause you see, when I wake up from my dreaming
It's still the same, I can't believe you've gone away
The tears that I cry

Can't you see, it's been a long time
Long time, long time, long time
Give it to me, yeah, me yeah

I try and realize you're gone
I tell myself that wanting you is wrong
No matter what I say or do
Got to learn, it's easy to forget you

Words won't stop the pains I have inside
Got to change the feelings that I hide
And now the only thing left to do,
Is to tell you, the only way I ever knew, now listen man

An empty room's become an old routine
And locked inside is all my pride
All my tears, have run down through the years
I'm wanting more and more of you

I walk the streets, though they're raked with rain
Through lonely days, the lonely nights won't stop the pain
Yeah, livin' on, since time is done
I feel this bad, from everywhere

For the things we had in yesterday
And the times we shared, the times to stay
Long time, long time, long time, long time, time, time
Give it to me, give it to me, give it to me
Can't you see? Can't you see?

Bible Thumpers And Free Advertising

Wow. What an amusing, completely crazed, bible thumping fatso! She doesn't like the fact that people are not all alike. As long as she doesn't throw her bible at anyone, her rant is entertaining. She should really audition for a role in a theatrical production.

Whatever happened to responsibility for the safety of one's own progeny when visiting a department store? And, if completely dissatisfied with an aspect of shopping in a department store, why give publicity to the business by acting like a clown?

Old Macfishface Had A Farm

The warning was given three times from this site, in three recent posts. It seems that the county attorney in Marshall County, Kansas still thinks that pretending to practice law is a type of farming or ranching. The law is pretty clear: in order to declare one's real estate property as a farm or a ranch, and pay the lower taxes associated thereof, the property must generate forty percent of one's income in the form of agriculture. A very big problem in Laura McNish's case is that the covenants of the Keystone Addition, where her "farm" is located, clearly prohibits farming and ranching. My, my! What's a lawyer with a green thumb to do? Even if the "farm" is clandestine, and only legal in Colorado and Washington; shouldn't a county prosecutor pay her fair share of property taxes?

How's The Coffee?

Businesses that allow you to use their wifi are nice, aren't they? Especially when coffee is served nearby!  I've noticed you, quite a few times, here on my site. You spend quite a bit of time, checking and double checking certain posts; my tracker records all of it. In fact, my tracker has a name for you: it is 107.217.92.84. You've been doing this for a couple of years now, not always from the above IP, but; nonetheless, reading and rereading all of this site's posts about a certain subject.

Usually, such interest in a topic is accompanied by a relevant comment or an email, with a coherent question and identifying information from the sender. As long as the contact is friendly, and no threats or other ugliness is involved, there is never a problem. So.......in the past couple of years, what have you so fervently sought here, on this site? What do you want?

As for the posts that seem to grab your attention, they are not going away. The current information surprised yours truly, as well as quite a few others, but it stood up to fact checks and is, sadly, true. If you actually care about the person involved, you should tell her to make amends and reparations. I intend to continue to write about the matter until it is completely amended. I will also cover it elsewhere, because it is public information, and this is an election year. Since this site is my personal blog, I also have posts on the subject already published, scheduled to appear on certain dates. No matter what happens, those posts will appear at the time they are scheduled to appear. Even if the entire Midwest, from.....ahem....Zionsville, Indiana to Colorado suddenly ceases to exist, the posts on the subject that interests you so much will appear! The only person who can interfere is yours truly.

I hope you have enjoyed your coffee. It's been fun chatting with you.

What Are You Growing, Laura?

Property tax information is public, and it came to the attention of quite a few individuals in this area that you have not paid the proper amount in taxes, but have paid a lower amount. The question remains, where's the farm? What's the crop? Provide an accounting of how and why you should pay taxes on your property as if it were a farm. If you do not, the question will keep reappearing. Promise.
