Ted Crockett, a spokesman for the failed Roy Moore campaign for the Senate in Alabama, seriously thought that Muslims and others who are not Christians could not serve as elected officials in the United States government because they do not always use bibles for their swearing in ceremonies! Where did he get that idea? From Roy Moore, of course! It is a misconception, and Jake Tapper dispelled it in an interview, shortly before the election. Since Doug Jones (D) won, it is moot. Roy Moore can now go home, and build a wall of bibles around his house. He probably will not bother to read one though.

Wow. What an amusing, completely crazed, bible thumping fatso! She doesn't like the fact that people are not all alike. As long as she doesn't throw her bible at anyone, her rant is entertaining. She should really audition for a role in a theatrical production.

Jesus Lives In A Trailer

Lessons in Christianity offered in a trailer that is parked on school property, but not part of the school. Not sanctioned, manned by trusted, trustworthy personnel, and not even insured....yep. Sounds like fundamentalist Christians are at it again.

Luckily, this Michigan trailer was forced elsewhere, and the trailer trash told to take Jesus and the bible with them. Religious training and the resulting peer pressure in public school is a violation of federal law, and the Michigan Association of Civil Rights Activists took up the fight against the public school to remove the eyesore and the bibles from school property. Something that didn't happen, but probably should have happened, involves confiscation of any computers in the trailer. Since the bible thumpers were clearly committing a federal crime, perhaps the FBI should have obtained a warrant to take possession of any computers inside the trailer. There may have been another reason, entirely, for these christians to push their religion at school. A trailer, on school property, but not a part of the school in any way....sounds like an opportunity for christian kiddie porn creation.

The school in question wants to keep this illegal operation.

At least stop mocking your own traditions! I don't really judge you guys, but as long as I know what you Frankfort christian types are really all about, I don't think I have anything in common with most of you, and I certainly don't want to spend any time around you or make the mistake of trusting you. It's more a matter of protecting my children and myself than it is a matter of passing judgement. One thing that someone should really point out to you folks, though, is this: most Pagans, along with ardent believers in other religions, show more respect for their holy writings and traditions than I've seen among Christians who attend any of the churches in Frankfort, Kansas.

Kansas Lawsuit Against School Board Dismissed

Citizens For Objective Public Education, in Peck, Kansas, determined last year that public schools in Kansas were teaching our children too much evolution and not enough creationism. So naturally, they went to court. Their damage, for which they demanded compensation, was that all of Kansas public school children had been encouraged to become atheists. Where the hell is the eye-rolley when I need it?

Yesterday, the Kansas Supreme Court dismissed the lawsuit. Judge Crabtree, apparently, was unable to see a large number of  young atheists running amok in the state of Kansas, and was also unable to connect any rampant atheism to science classes in public schools. Also there's that pesky constitutional right to freedom of religion or lack of religion, and to separation of church and state. Not to mention Abington v. Schempp, 1963 which disallows any bible thumping of any kind in public schools nationwide and the show of religious preference that accompanies bible thumping. Judge Crabtree was quite insistent upon proof that there had actually been any damages caused by the rare occurrence of Federal Law being properly followed in Kansas public schools, and the good Christians of Peck were unable to prove that a little book learning had damaged their children in any way, so the lawsuit went bye-bye. He noted, as well, that since schools in Kansas are not consolidated, and there is no actual approved and adhered to curriculum in Kansas, but small, generally unqualified school boards deciding curriculum in public schools, such a lawsuit would be a waste of time, anyways.

This is why Frankfort, in USD 380, continues to teach about the Jewish culture by showing the movie, The Ten Commandments, to sixth graders and pronouncing them "informed" about Judaism after the children fail to identify the Jewish holiday about which the movie was made! Once again....eye rolley, here. Using Hollywood and the entertainment industry to define and stereotype a culture is, unfortunately, as predictable in Kansas as using a poorly translated collection of biblical hocus pocus to teach science.

Flying Spaghetti Monster Rules Oklahoma

Oklahoma has gotten quite subversive in the religious choices of the alternative crowd! Shawna Hammond, of Enid, Oklahoma, just had her license renewed wearing the official symbol of her creed: a spaghetti strainer in tribute to her deity, the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

In 2005, a man named Bobby Henderson wrote a letter to the good-for-nothing Kansas State Board of Education to protest the ridicules and irresponsible teaching of creation, a`la Christianity, in public schools. He offered, as an alternative to the imaginary dude in the sky, the lordship of an all-powerful Flying Spaghetti Monster. Because Spaghetti is made of pasta, all of the Faithful are, naturally, Pastafarians. This religion, postulated in desperation to make a point to a state school board that lacks skills and value of any kind, has actually gained popularity and devotees worldwide. Once again, thank you very much, Kansas! (your writer growls sarcastically, here. Kansas seems to always be the cause of such exasperation)

This is a sign of the times, in case anyone here in the Midwest is paying attention. In a case such as this, it is probably as safe assumption that for every one young person such as Shawna Hammond, who does not mind standing up for her opinion of the silliness we call organized religion, and getting her picture for her drivers license taken with a spaghetti strainer on her head to prove a point; there are at least half a dozen others who feel the same way but are more subdued. Oklahoma, Kansas, and the entire Midwest should become more aware of what's it's people want, and who these people are. Especially the young: they really do represent Tomorrow.

Disrespectful Christian Children

Today I read a post from someone on Facebook, whose son, a Christian of the born-again variety, didn't like her Tarot cards. The cards disappeared, and my Facebook friend was unable to find them, and this morning her son finally told her that he tore them up and threw them out, on an isolated country road near their home. She's really disgusted with his behavior, and I don't blame her. I've met Christians in the past who destroy property.....the more superstitious ones often burn books on matters occult and throw any jewelry that reminds them of a pentacle away. In extreme cases, occultists or suspected occultists have been assaulted and murdered, and homes and buildings have been set on fire or otherwise destroyed.

Why would an adult young man bear his mother such disrespect? This is something else about Christians that I have never understood. Just what is it, about another person's differences, that frightens them so badly? And what is it about respect for other religions that is so difficult? Especially when we are dealing with born again types whose parents are not Christian? And why is it so easy for some of these born-again congregations to encourage children to disrespect their parents? First, to condescend to a parishioner's parents while cheering on the parishioner to do the same, followed by destruction of property, in this case, the Tarot cards. Another word for the latter is theft, but apparently "thou shalt not steal" goes out the window with "honor they father and thy mother" when keeping the ten commandments requires empathy and manners. Feel free to believe me when I state that the Christian "God's" permission to his faithful to exclude yours truly from the respect he insists must be granted other elders and parents is enraging, and does not foster any family atmosphere or relationship.

If any of my sons had destroyed a deck of my cards, or any other tool connected to the Craft or matters occult, I would probably film myself ceremoniously burning the culprit's bible and put it on YouTube. That said, I suppose it is a good thing it was only the Tarot cards that were destroyed and discarded on an isolated rural road. Born-agains do some strange things.

So the Christian crowd is now up in arms because the retail industry has become more concerned with truthful labeling of the products they sell. One moment, Christians want everyone, with a few notorious exceptions among their own numbers, to tell the truth. The next moment, they cry for retailers to violate Federal Trade Commission law by selling bibles and stating that the information contained therein is true, rather than fiction! There's just no pleasing some people! Hopefully, all these offended Christians will remember to have Happy Holidays this year!

Filing A Complaint About A Judge In Kansas

Anyone in Marshall County, Kansas who has a complaint about Magistrate Judge Angela Hecke can use this form to write and file a complaint about her. After filling out the PDF form, it should be hard copied and snail mailed to Kansas Judicial Center, 301 SW Tenth Ave., Room 374, Topeka, Kansas, 66612.

Reasons to complain about a judge would include exparte conversations with witnesses or involved parties in a case; religious or other unjust biases; harassment during court, especially about matters unrelated to the case; intrusion into a case after being disqualified or recused; and obvious favoritism between individuals or families. Here's a quote from the Kansas Canon Of Judicial Conduct:

(B) A judge shall not, in the performance of judicial duties, by words or conduct manifest bias or prejudice, or engage in harassment, including but not limited to bias, prejudice, or harassment based upon race, sex, gender, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital status, socioeconomic status, or political affiliation, and shall not permit court staff, court officials, or others subject to the judge’s direction and control to do so.

(C) A judge shall require lawyers in proceedings before the court to refrain from manifesting bias or prejudice, or engaging in harassment, based upon attributes including but not limited to race, sex, gender, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital status, socioeconomic status, or political affiliation, against parties, witnesses, lawyers, or others.

Seriously, it's too bad there are so many people in the Midwest who make this claim about Christian doctrine, only to ignore and violate it when they go to work.

A new twist in sharing one's faith door to door! Also, it's an answer, of sorts, to my local troll who thinks that it's not okay for a kid at school to state that the probability of literal interpretation of the Bible having any validity is quite low.

If you did not go to church this Sunday, especially in Mississippi, you might have missed the pardon of over two hundred criminals, quite a few of them convicted murderers. Just before leaving office, Governer Haley Barbour got a wild hair up his ass, and went ahead and pardoned some truly scary people, ignoring the law stating that the victims have a legal right to a notice of thirty days before such an action is taken. Needless to say, this has created quite a bit of outrage in Mississippi. It was also unexplained until this past Friday. Initially, the governer, who is, by the way, Republican, did not offer any explanations for his decisions, but he finally came out and stated that he pardoned those criminals because they had read the bible and repented!

There are a couple of very serious problems with this. First, violent criminals seldom change. Thugs almost always "find Jesus" while incarcerated, and are very good at putting on airs and lying. Former victims are very likely, in cases like this, to become victims all over again. Since a government pardon means that these convicted criminals are not even required to complete a probationary period, there is not even a legal vehicle to monitor them. At this writing, at least four of these convicts are off the grid. This puts victims and others in danger.

Another serious problem with this is the discrimination factor. No one has been pardoned for reading the Koran. No one has been pardoned for consulting with his Rabbi, or for studying Taoism. What about any of the Pagan religions? No one has been pardoned for learning about those! Yet reading the bible is, somehow, a reason to grant a pardon! Sorry, prison Christian converts, but that is offensive. If playing the Christian card can somehow elicit a "get out of jail free" card for a dangerous criminal, then the same considerations should exist for Jews, Budhists, Hindus, Muslims, Pagans, and any other religious faithful. The only problem  with that rationale is that adherants to virtually all religions besides Christianity do not tend to become criminals nearly as often as those with Christian leanings, (no hate mail, please; I do NOT refer to the majority of Christians) which may be the reason Christian propaganda is so easy to find in American prisons. Also, Christianity is unique in it's quest to initiate everyone and anyone, even people from whom most people should be protected. I hope the ACLU has the opportunity and grounds to challenge this decision.

Does anyone remember this post on this blog, from August of last year? A child molester was actually released from prison in New Mexico without serving his whole sentence, because the judge felt that he had "suffered enough" and that he had turned his life around, a la Christianity and the bible! Almost immediately, the creep contacted one of his young victims, something he was not allowed to do. Ultimately, intended or not, the decision by the New Mexico judge was that the VICTIM had NOT suffered enough, and the determination that the creep had "suffered enough" caused the victim to suffer more. Thanks, Jesus!

Luckily, not everyone in Mississippi thinks a prison conversion and a bible equal a complete change of character. The Attorney General Of Mississippi requested a block on the release of the remaining prisoners who have not been turned loose on their communities as of yet. Jesus and crime rampages may have to wait.
