Another Day In Court For Kansas Christians

Citizens for Objective Public Education, in Kansas, are at it again. After being told by the Honorable Judge Crabtree, of the Kansas Supreme Court, that there is no merit to their lawsuit and it's claim that teaching evolution to students in Kansas public schools has created an inordinate number of atheists among the Kansas youth, they have decided to appeal Judge Crabtree's ruling.

These folks need not only to learn about science, but also about the judicial system. Their revised complaint is that atheism is a religion and that teaching science to children is exposing them to a religion.....!Where's the eye-rolley when I need it? Atheism has never been listed in any library of religious beliefs anywhere in the world, and will never meet the criteria for such a thing.These cuckoos are the same ones who teach about Judaism by showing the Charleton Heston movie, The Ten Commandments in sixth grade social studies, and openly teach children at the same grade level that President Obama was not born in America.... another topic that should be given a rest. Atheism is not a religion, and science is a necessity in order for Kansas children to compete with students, and eventually marketplaces, in the rest of the world.

Kansas Lawsuit Against School Board Dismissed

Citizens For Objective Public Education, in Peck, Kansas, determined last year that public schools in Kansas were teaching our children too much evolution and not enough creationism. So naturally, they went to court. Their damage, for which they demanded compensation, was that all of Kansas public school children had been encouraged to become atheists. Where the hell is the eye-rolley when I need it?

Yesterday, the Kansas Supreme Court dismissed the lawsuit. Judge Crabtree, apparently, was unable to see a large number of  young atheists running amok in the state of Kansas, and was also unable to connect any rampant atheism to science classes in public schools. Also there's that pesky constitutional right to freedom of religion or lack of religion, and to separation of church and state. Not to mention Abington v. Schempp, 1963 which disallows any bible thumping of any kind in public schools nationwide and the show of religious preference that accompanies bible thumping. Judge Crabtree was quite insistent upon proof that there had actually been any damages caused by the rare occurrence of Federal Law being properly followed in Kansas public schools, and the good Christians of Peck were unable to prove that a little book learning had damaged their children in any way, so the lawsuit went bye-bye. He noted, as well, that since schools in Kansas are not consolidated, and there is no actual approved and adhered to curriculum in Kansas, but small, generally unqualified school boards deciding curriculum in public schools, such a lawsuit would be a waste of time, anyways.

This is why Frankfort, in USD 380, continues to teach about the Jewish culture by showing the movie, The Ten Commandments, to sixth graders and pronouncing them "informed" about Judaism after the children fail to identify the Jewish holiday about which the movie was made! Once again....eye rolley, here. Using Hollywood and the entertainment industry to define and stereotype a culture is, unfortunately, as predictable in Kansas as using a poorly translated collection of biblical hocus pocus to teach science.

Banned In Kansas Public Schools

A new neighbor and I had a laugh the other day about Frankfort High School and it's ban of my site at their school. Frankfort High allows Facebook, a few porn sites, violent video games, and all other blogs on their computers, but not mine. Frankfort also allows convicted felons who are not employed at the school, and who have no children attending the school, to simply "hang around" in the building during the day, but the reading of Siri's World And The Dissenting Opinion is strictly banned!

This is actually pretty funny. Also, to anyone who wants a bunch of teenagers to do something, the best way to gain their cooperation is to forbid it. Seriously. But my site has no porn, and most of the slang the reader will encounter here is guff from a troll named Melissa Kennedy, who teaches at Frankfort! I also do not support the use of illegal drugs or any type of criminal behavior, I do not violate copyrights, threaten, or abuse any other law, so what makes my site so dangerous? Remember, Dean Dalinghaus, principal of Frankfort Experiment, actually told a parent that he deliberately omitted as much teaching about the Constitution as possible, because when children learn about it, running a school "becomes harder". Deanis Dalinghaus may be qualified to lead lemmings over a cliff, but he is not qualified to administrate a school. My children do not attend his sorry excuse for a public school any longer.

Something that does bother me is the message that was sent to my six children, about me, concerning respect. Frankfort School, by banning my site, while allowing all kinds of messages and input from other parents, basically told my children that they feel that I do not deserve respect. Why is Frankfort so threatened by any discussion of what goes on in the world outside of Frankfort, especially in schools? Schools where music teachers do not boff their students and get them knocked up. Schools that do not allow convicted felons awaiting space in federal prison to wander about the campus. Schools that employ teachers who do not abandon students four miles away from school and just forget about them. School that do not continue the employ of teachers who tell veterans that they "do not give two shits about the flag" (quote belongs to Melissa Kennedy) when they disagree about the candidate the veteran supports in an election. If Frankfort High School was actually so terribly threatened because of this site, simply banning all social media would have been more discreet. It would have protected my children from that lovely Christian hatred they seem to run into all over Kansas and would have certainly made it easier for them to concentrate on studies instead of cliques and local politics. But then, Frankfort High School isn't really interested in studies, or in protecting children. Frankfort High School in only interested in ways to express racism, prejudism, ignorance, ethnocentrism, and stupidity. They also favor lies and dishonesty. Open attempts to teach any child to disrespect parents is actually against the cause of education. Frankfort High School really should be shut down, consolidated with other public schools, and forgotten about.

Another sillyassed bunch of people who feel threatened by education and intelligence is attempting to ban Neil Degrasse Tyson's contributions to PBS in the entire state of Oklahoma. School officials in Saddlebridge, Oklahoma do not want any students watching Neil Degrasse Tyson's "Cosmos". It contains new theories and new knowledge, combined with old fashioned math and common sense, that apparently scares these teachers. So what's the best plan of action? Ban the knowledge, of course. That way, no student will ask a question that cannot be answered at school.

You can read some of them here. Be warned, however; that the comments reproduced and shared are unaltered, and contain all of the foul language that originated in the minds of the senders. If protection from the legal consequences of their own actions generated the banning of this site in Frankfort High School, despite the open recognition of first amendment rights of KKK supporters, Westboro Baptist Church and their ilk, pornography creators, and bible thumpers, perhaps Mrs. Rottinghaus could have simply stated that she was protecting the school from a lawsuit that might result from teachers harassing innocent parents, such as yours truly. No need to demonize someone who does not endanger children and use computers to make threats. Why do Frankfort teachers use computers to spread anger and hate, anyway?  Along with deliberately leaving children alone during school hours in places and situations where they are vulnerable and have no defense or resources in the event of medical or situational emergency, Frankfort teachers threaten and abuse parents who ask for safe schools! USD 380 in Kansas is not a very good school. Maybe colleges will begin to think twice before accepting it's students.

Teaching Science Threatens Business

The governor of Wyoming just signed a bill into law that blocks the teaching of science and ecology from a worldwide standpoint that considers global warming. Public schools, in order to appease the energy business in Wyoming, will not be allowed to teach the same science that the more progressive public schools in the United States and virtually the rest of the world teaches. Wyoming legislators actually stated that they did not want the schools to teach something that contraindicates the state's biggest industry, and that they would rather teach outdated science! How unfortunate for the hopeful college bound student wishing to study science!

Frankfort, Kansas has a public school where social studies and American history are deliberately not taught. Dean Dalinghaus, the principal, stated to a parent that teaching children about the Constitution and how it applies to them makes "running the school smoothly" more difficult. This makes USD 380 in Kansas another example of education taking a back seat to politics.

What Do They Know, Terri Horman?

Now that Kaine and Terri Horman are finally divorced, and more testimony concerning Rudy Sanchez, who cut the grass and did assorted landscaping tasks at the Horman's house, has been aired to the public, I am beginning to see some twisted logic to the speculation that Terri may have benefitted from the death of her husband, prior to the divorce.

Terri Horman's attorneys really want to question this landscaper and find out everything he knows, which is obvious code for "find out everything he told law enforcement after Kyron went missing". During the weeks immediately following the disappearance of Kaine Horman's seven year old son, Kyron, from his school in Portland Oregon in June of 2010, Rudy Sanchez shared with police a story of Terri Horman and her attempts to hire him to kill Kaine! This seemed rather fanciful, to say the least. I wondered if Terri had merely gotten annoyed with Kaine and carelessly wished him dead, out loud, with no regard for who might be within earshot. I also wondered if Rudy wanted his proverbial fifteen minutes of fame. I really couldn't see a motive, anywhere, for Terri to want to kill her husband. Why not just get a divorce, like most people do when irrevocably disenchanted with a spouse?

Recently, amid all the flotsam and jetsam making up the large number of published and shared pages of the Hormans' divorce order, something caught my eye in one of the responses filed by Kaine's attorney in answer to why his concerns about Sanchez's testimony is so important, both to Kaine, personally, and to his continued sole custody of their four year old daughter. In Oregon, the law favors keeping siblings together after a divorce, and Kyron is Terri's stepson. Kaine fathered Kyron with his first wife, Desiree. Terri has no custodial claim to Kyron. She does have a custodial claim to her daughter, but as her daughter is Kyron's sister, she stood a rather good chance of losing primary custody to Kaine, because of the clause in Oregon law favoring siblings remaining together. So it stands to reason that if Terri became a widow, Kyron would live with Desiree, and Terri would get to keep her daughter. Terri also pressured Desiree to sue for custody of Kyron, an arrangement that might have successfully canceled out the endeavor of keeping Kyron and his sister together; but nothing came of it.

What's an angry spouse to do? According to Sanchez, Terri met him at a restaurant, with her infant daughter in tow, and unsuccessfully solicited murder! As the story is told by Sanchez, this conversation took place some six months or so before June 4, when Kyron disappeared. It's a shame Sanchez failed to come forward at the time; so many things could have played out differently. As it happens, Sanchez was uninterested in Terri's proposition, and Terri was left to return to the drawing board. Was there some alternative plan in place, that Terri thought would eliminate the need for family court in Oregon to keep Kyron and his sister together in the event of his father's divorce? Now there actually appears to be a motive, as warped and twisted as it presents itself.

Now, almost four years later, Terri Horman and her band of merry lawyers want to know exactly what Rudy Sanchez told law enforcement, and want to question him during upcoming custody hearing, scheduled on February 10. This information is not terribly important to Kaine and Terri's daughter, as she has been without contact with her mother since June of 2010. Any visitation awarded to Terri will be guided by expert advice concerning this long absence, and whether Terri's counsel gains access to exact quotes from Rudy Sanchez to law enforcement or not, the court will probably err on the side of caution in terms of visitation, especially at first. Sanchez's answers about what he said in June of 2010 will be almost irrelevant. The only purpose to be served here is to give Terri's curiously involved defense attorney (she has, after all, NOT been charged with a crime) a better idea of the origins of allegations made when Kyron disappeared. It is all a thinly veiled attempt to gather information.

Here's an idea that Terri and her attorneys have not considered, if they want to know what the police know: Terri Horman could actually go back to Portland and sit down with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and offer to help find Kyron. She could cooperate with them, and tell investigators everything she knows about what happened the day Kyron disappeared. She might even try telling the truth in complete enough fashion to pass a polygraph. Then, information known about the criminal investigation might, by design or by default, become known to Terri and her band of merry lawyers!

To Evolve, Or Not To Evolve

Has anyone ever wondered why Hollywood and Washington DC does not spend much time on questions of spiritual evolution? Has anyone ever wondered why science classes in public schools do not teach very much about the DNA similarities between humans and other animals on this planet? Has anyone ever wondered why transcendence of baser tendencies, only needed in times of serious threat to survival, are discouraged in America and written off as idealistic and "silly"? The fenced in pen may be warm and temporarily safe and the corporate farm's brand of "feed" may be convenient, but where do all the sheep go after living in sheltered captivity?

For Kyron Horman, Supporting New Talent

Someone shared the video below on Facebook today, concerning the parents of Terri Horman, sometime step parent of missing Kyron Horman, the Portland, Oregon, seven year old who disappeared from his school in June of 2010, during a science fair. Terri Horman was the last person to see Kyron, and has refused to testify or cooperate with law enforcement in any way, and has also failed two polygraphs. While she looks quite guilty because of those circumstances, her parents, Carol and Larry Moulton, were also present at the school when Kyron disappeared. The media has certainly not focused on their possible involvement or their responsibility to testify truthfully and help find Kyron, and they have not done a single thing to help. They have not even been willing to print and pass out flyers with Kyron's missing persons' information. What they were willing to do was hire an attorney for Terri, and what they are willing to do is take down any flyers with Kyron's picture and contact information for Multnomah County law enforcement and the FBI. That inspired the creative talent of a budding artist who did not wish to give her name but who did give me a green light to share this video, which has some excellent and amusing poetry. We will all enjoy it more when Kyron is found, hopefully alive and safe.
 

Note: Carol and Larry Moulton will not be seeing their grandchild, Kiara Horman, any time soon. The pending divorce between Kyron's dad and their daughter was postponed, yet again; this time until August of this year, which, interestingly, is when a lawsuit filed against Terri Horman by Kyron's mother, for custodial interferance, is scheduled to continue. August 1 was the given date for both trials. Terri Horman will only have to buy one outfit for court.

Updated note: The Social Media Police have apparently taken action against the First Amendment rights of the owner of the formerly published video. I await a reproduction of it under different auspices. Nothing threatening was contained therein, and no losses occured to any involved party as a result of the content of this video; it is my strong suspicion that a guilty person watched it, didn't like it, and made a big fuss.

 

No Afterlife, Says Stephen Hawkings

Stephen Hawkings? Or Isaac Newton?

Stephen Hawkings and Isaac Newton. Two of the "greats" in the physics world; yet very different views on the afterlife. Without Isaac Newton's contributions, I do not believe we would have gotton as far is the destruction and devasation of our beautiful planet (I guess we call that "progress") as we have, but I have always thought that he was more of a physicist than an interpreter of semitic languages and Jewish tradition. He probably would have disagreed with me. The British take on the Eastern religion we call Christianity was very important to him.

Stephen Hawkings, on the other hand, will not enter anything into his "ledger of reality" (my term) unless it can be explained with an equation. Basically, I agree with Stephen Hawkings's line of reason; in our field, (dare I call it our "limited" field?) there is an equation to define, describe, and express every single chemical and physical reaction there is. Possibly excepting one thing..........my husband and I are still debating on whether or not sentience can be boiled down to physical and chemical reactions and defined using equations.  My longsuffering husband............he is very Newtonian in his views on science, and I have a tendency to accept whatever Hawkings says as gospel and hang off of his every word. It makes for discussions that last all night!

I am still inclined to believe that there are a bazillion things we have not discovered or uncovered scientifically yet, and that other realms may somehow be invisible to us. That's just my opinion, though.
