After fact checking, President Obama is the most honest one to have recently run for president, followed by Hillary Clinton. Like it or not, Democrats have the market cornered on the truth in 2016. Remember the aversion Donald Trump had to fact checking for his first debate with Hillary Clinton?

Hey Laura; how come, when a child is kidnapped in Marshall County Kansas, and abandoned four miles away, during school hours, from the school she attends; you don't file charges against the perpetrator for kidnapping, unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment, and child abuse? I watched you rant and rave at an innocent man for similar things, but the crime to which I refer is real. The police were aware of it, too. Why didn't you at least force the perpetrator to remain forever in circumstances that would exclude children? I understand that the parents of the potential defendant would probably buy him the services of a private attorney. He also has some truly unintelligent friends, but aren't you at all worried about the welfare of children in Marshall County, Kansas? Or is the law selectively applied, and primarily used as a political tool?

Reasons Why Kansans Are A Problem For The Real World

A friend of mine shared this on Facebook. I was embarrassed, because this Republican creep is right here, in Kansas, coming forward with yet another truly stupid, Kansas-style statement. We have Kansans who feel that people with sickle cell anemia and thalassemias should report directly to work when medical advice recommends transfusions. We have Kansans who deny disabled children education that is equal to that of other children. We even have a county attorney in Marshall County who suspends the medical care of inmates in the county detention center when they insist upon jury trials and refuse to plead guilty to charges. This prosecutor isn't even concerned when these tactics result in death.  And now we have a Republican representative who thinks that a woman does not need birth control over the age of fifty. I wonder if he realizes just how risky a pregnancy can be after that age? 

This is why we have to stop getting our representatives at Kmart, folks. Seriously. And Kansas, there have been some really stupid statements made by politicians in the past, but this comment really stands out. Before you guys hate on me,(Frankfurters, I'm looking at you, here) and send me all those rude comments, some containing dialogue that is so rife with obscene language that I can barely understand you, stop and think about this. Why not direct your pith toward people like Allan Rothlisberg? 

Of course, the people in Frankfort Kansas will probably expect a pregnant woman over fifty to donate blood when she discovers that her hemoglobin is around six, and she needs a transfusion. They'd expect her to forgo medical care from an obstetrician, too.

Justice And Magistrate Court In Marshall County Kansas

Anyone experiencing legal problems in Marshall County Kansas, as a plaintiff, defendant, or as a witness, should be aware of his or her constitutional rights. Any attorney you hire should practice mostly outside of Marshall County. You should not hire anyone who cares about the political gossip structure of Marshall County, because a lawyer who cares more about local politics than about your case will not truly represent you. If you are a defendant, you should demand a jury trial if you can. While copping a plea may seem less expensive and easier, a jury of your peers will usually be more fair to you than the prosecutor or the magistrate judge. You have the right to bypass a bench trial with the magistrate judge and go directly to a jury trial, if you so choose. If you have a public defender, make sure he understands this. If he tells you that you cannot have a jury trial, he is lying. If you are found not guilty, you may actually save money in the long run, because you won't have to pay court costs, fees, fines, ect. You also won't have a criminal record. If Laura McNish, the Marshall County prosecutor, threatens you or tries to scare you, remember that she is a dishonest bully, and scare tactics are all she actually has in the way of tools of her trade. Once she is in the courtroom, she comes across as an idiot with no talent or skill. She also lacks insight in the job of prosecuting crime, and goes to court unprepared for trial. A defendant who does not accept a plea is a serious problem in her life. Unless she can intimidate witnesses or charm a jury with exceptionally believable lies, she has no compelling courtroom presence. Even if you have a public defender appointed to your case, tell him you want a jury trial. If he says no, insist upon contacting the Kansas Bar Association, and when you go to your first court appearance, stubbornly refuse a plea or a bench trial. Laura McNish and Angela Hecke are both as woefully ignorant of the law, and of life outside of the Midwest as the wizard in the Wizard of Oz was of "wizardry". Oh....if you are a witness, remember that it is unlawful to lie in court, even if the prosecuting attorney asks you to do it for her.

 

Because of Laura McNish's lack of expertise as a lawyer, actual crime in Marshall County Kansas generally goes unnoticed, uninvestigated, and unprosecuted until the KBI or the FBI becomes involved. She is only proficient in prosecuting petty crimes and intimidating those who do not understand their rights and are too weak to stand up for themselves.

To Evolve, Or Not To Evolve

Has anyone ever wondered why Hollywood and Washington DC does not spend much time on questions of spiritual evolution? Has anyone ever wondered why science classes in public schools do not teach very much about the DNA similarities between humans and other animals on this planet? Has anyone ever wondered why transcendence of baser tendencies, only needed in times of serious threat to survival, are discouraged in America and written off as idealistic and "silly"? The fenced in pen may be warm and temporarily safe and the corporate farm's brand of "feed" may be convenient, but where do all the sheep go after living in sheltered captivity?

 

Third Reason Why Kansas Schools Should Consolidate

To further discuss reasons why Kansas public schools should consolidate, instead of operating in "unified" districts, a misnomer because school districts in Kansas are not unified at all, a third reason is unequal and selective hiring practices and selective application of the law in relation to teachers and other employees of the "unified" school districts. The Renwick school board, near Wichita, has terminated the contract of Troy McChristian, principal of Garden Plain High School, pictured to the left; because he was arrested in the recent past for DWI. Officials cited that McChristian was "not setting a good example" for students, and was not reporting criminal activity, both prosecuted and unprosecuted, to the board in order to ensure proper decision making! Okay; driving while intoxicated does not set a good example....no argument there, but what about Noble Rick Pendland? He taught in a different public school in Southern Kansas, and was a foster parent, to boot, yet it took years to get rid of him, and his school isn't even responsible for the decision: Pendland was arrested and jailed for sex crimes against children, and was not granted work release pending bond or trial so that he could continue to go to work at the school where he met some of his victims. Terminating Pendland's contract was simply necessitated by circumstances, and would not have happened if law enforcement had not removed his presence from his forced audience, the students. This is a glaring example of unequal, and possibly selective, application of Kansas law, used to make or break a school employee's contract with a "unified" school district's school board.

 

If public schools in Kansas were consolidated, it would be much easier to insist that the same laws be followed by all Kansas teachers in public schools. Parents would have a basic notion of what to expect from their childrens' teacher; Rick Pendland and his ilk, favored by conservative Christians, would have to curry favor with a school board governing the public schools in all of Kansas, rather than just brown nosing the republicans on the school board in one locale. There would not be teachers who get away with drunk driving or showing up to teach classes while drunk (yes, Frankfort, you covered for a teacher with addiction problems) in one part of Kansas, while the same is not tolerated in other parts of Kansas. Children would have more stability, as well, through knowing what to expect. As things are run at this point, each unified district is allowed to play picksies/choosies with which laws it will respect and which laws it will ignore, at the ultimate expense of the children.

 

Another problem with laws, and the applications thereof, that could be cleared up with consolidation of public schools in Kansas is not only the favoritism employed by unified school districts, but the favoritism employed by local judicial systems and county prosecutors. When a teacher commits a serious crime, especially a person felony against a student, and a parent steps forward with a complaint, terminating his contract should be the next logical and acceptable step. According to the Kansas Department of Education, prosecution for a crime is not what determines breach of contract. Breach of contract is setting the bad example in the first place. It should not matter if the policeman responding had the teacher for eighth grade social studies, or if the teacher's parents also taught at the same school and donate money to the school, or if the county attorney has personal problems with the child's parents and denies justice out of personal prejudice. Once the state school board hears about a teacher who criminally endangers a child, such as Tom Schroeder, pictured on the right, who abandoned a fourteen year old girl along a highway in Marshall County Kansas, that teacher's walking papers should be forthcoming. There should be no exceptions made because of political or personal favoritism, and if all of the public schools in the state of Kansas answered to one school board, instead of un-unified  unified districts, equality, justice, and common sense would have a stronger chance of prevalence in such decisions.

 

Has anyone noticed a difference in skin complexion between the two teachers cited in this post who did not get sanctioned by their "unified districts", and the teacher who did? In other places, this might be chalked up merely to coincidence; but in Kansas, it deserves consideration.

 

Listen Up, Midwestern Towns

Small Midwestern towns should really start listening. The morals you push on the children of others do not cut it everywhere. Especially when you consider yourselves more moral than people of other cultures, who do not condone the use of sexuality to define everything from self image to marketability of inanimate objects. Instead of using power to control politics and scare dissidents, small, Midwestern judicial systems should focus on fighting crime.
 

Happy Birthday, Stetson Kennedy

Stetson Kennedy was born on October 5, 1916 in Florida. He was, in addition to being a writer and researcher of folklore, a human rights activist. The latter actually began as a means of research, in order to write about the Ku Klux Klan, which he infiltrated after World War ll, in a successful effort to gain information. From this research and information, he authored the titles, Southern Exposure, and The Klan Unmasked. He also gave information about the Klan to comic book writers, who used it in creating villians to be defeated by Superman. Anonymous hackers would have been proud.

This method of infiltrating, researching, then finally exposing is what shedding light is all about. Stetson Kennedy infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in Georgia at a time when that hate group controlled Southern politics, and heavily influenced Northern politics. When he felt that he had enough information to address the public about who the Klan actually is and what they do, he went ahead and exposed them, nothing withheld. He wasn't worried about keeping anyone's secrets, hiding anyone's incompetence, or covering up anyone's criminal predilections. This not only what makes his writing great, but what makes the First Amendment great. Stetson dared to tell the world what he saw firsthand, and our Constitution allowed him to do so, even when it meant blowing the whistle on some very powerful terrorists.

Kennedy died in 2011, after a lifetime of publishing books and articles about folklore, activism, and human rights. He was richly rewarded by following his passion, and not many people believed the social strata of the United States, before the Civil Rights Movement, would ever change. He was never terribly clear on whether or not he thought he would see change at the time he wrote about the Klan, but the efforts of political activists and counter culture revolutionaries paid off. We need more writers like Stetson Kennedy.

I wonder if Mitt Romney has ever thought about this? He seizes every opportunity to cry and scream about "God", and has no moral problems at all with using concepts that relate to fear in order to manipulate the American public. I am not a Christian, but I am familiar with the story about the "sermon on the mount". Please believe me when I say that Mitt Romney does not remind me in any way, shape, or form, of Jesus. And to Bishop Romney; if God had a face, and if he really was Jesus, his features and skin color would probably make your security team push him out of line at the airport and possibly even detain him. Without power from your church,(which should not be mixed with politics, but that's another post) or power from money, you would not be able to function, let alone recognize a God or a Goddess that might be real. If you win this election, Mitt, and things don't go right after you take office, do you think the whole country will hate your church as much as they end up hating you? Have you thought about that? It's just a question.
