Put Information To Good Use

While the media has been attempting to keep the masses focused on Hobby Lobby and it's barely useful employee insurance package, (seriously; Hobby Lobby is certainly NOT the only employer out there who rips off workers via benefits) there are elections coming up later this year. Every legislative session seems to feature either subtle or blatant challenges to the fourth amendment, putting down SOPA was, sadly, not good enough for everyone; and we still have a government that isn't interested in the upholding of the Constitution. But what about the information that is available about those running for public office? Shouldn't that information be shared and discussed publicly? After all, those who hold elected positions are merely civil servants, and their lives actually SHOULD be open books. Instead of hyper-focus on some dumbass Christians who want their employees to take as much maternity leave as possible, (isn't that what happens without contraceptives?) lets put the spotlight on all of our politicians who are planning to run for public office this fall. As for sharing information about their personal lives, remember how deeply they care, OR NOT, about the privacy of all the rest of us!

Creativity, Hobby Lobby Style

What a double edged debate Hobby Lobby has provided for the nation! Two things retailers almost never cared to provide for their employees, back in the day, were insurance and lenience in when families required lots of an employee's time. Health insurance has been a highly debated issue for at least two years, and Obamacare has become law. Private insurance companies are running amok with ideas of their own on how to do business, and Hobby Lobby is apparently a Christian corporation. Not that corporations can be Christian, as if they were human, but it has been said that corporations are people, too. 

Because Hobby Lobby is Christian, it's love for it's imaginary icon is expressed by opposing abortion. Not that the bible addresses abortion specifically, among all the instructions to go ahead and kill, bully, and traffic humans, (yeah, slavery is human trafficking and America's economy got strong because of it) but because political lobbies (not to be confused with Hobby Lobby) such as the Moral Majority purport that contraception and birth control are the same as abortion, and as such, are murder. One must wonder what all the good christian corporations and people were doing before Buck v. Bell was abandoned, but NOT overturned, in the United States. One must also wonder why the Catholic Church did not excommunicate Adolf Hitler, who strongly supported abortion, eugenics, and murder.

Back to insurance and leniency in balancing children and work schedules: Hobby Lobby has refused to allow their employee health insurance providers to cover any type of contraceptives. This seems unusual, since most employers would rather not work with pregnant employees or the needs of pregnant employees. Indeed, a birth is a lot more expensive than contraceptives. So is a maternity leave. In fact, it was not until 1993 that an American woman had any guarantee of returning to her job, through the Family Medical Leave Act, after giving birth. Thankyou, Bill Clinton. 

And now, after a woman's maternity leave is over, what is Hobby Lobby going to do about her need for childcare when she returns to work? Retailers traditionally do not care much about the children of their employees, and will often pressure employees not only to neglect their own health needs, but to neglect their children. Sometimes, a retailer will even threaten to fire the employee who refuses to leave his or her children home alone when a choice has to be made. After saying "no" to birth control, will Hobby Lobby be the "creative center" it calls itself in the above picture and provide daycare for all those employees to whom contraceptives were not readily available? At the end of the day, it seems as if it might be more cost effective and simple to just enlist health insurance policies that provide contraceptives.

Catholic Clergy Cries The Blues Because We Think Before We Replicate

"Roman Catholic bishops in Kansas are sponsoring a Statehouse rally over what their church views as attacks by the federal government on religious freedom.

The rally is set for Friday afternoon, with Gov. Sam Brownback and U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran among the scheduled speakers. The event is part of a nationwide campaign prompted by a mandate announced by President Barack Obama earlier this year requiring most employers to provide health insurance covering birth control. Many Catholics and other religious conservatives oppose the mandate.

The Obama mandate included a religious exemption for houses of worship but not religiously affiliated hospitals, charities, universities and social service agencies. Obama later said he would require insurance companies rather than religious groups to cover the cost, but bishops nationwide view the change as inadequate." entire article, ABC 49KTKA

............Waaaaaa!! Waaaaa!! Waaaaa!!!!!!!!!! What's the matter, Catholic clergy? Can't handle the fact that modern medicine enables grown women to pop out replications of themselves only when the Earth needs such contributions? Is it a problem for you when we wait until we are ready to parent children before we pop them out, rather than littering the surface of our Host with unensouled individuals who only take and never give back? Does it threaten Catholic Clergy when a woman has a calling other than parenthood in life? Or does the Catholic church only define a woman by her reproductive organs? How many of the above mentioned protesters understand the delicate balences that define overpopulation? How many of these crying Roman Catholic Bishops are women?  What would they do if all of those who ARE women here in Kansas refused to engage in anything reproductive with Germanic male genotypical prototypes found in Kansas, favoring a little genetic variation? (I've been here for five years, and I am just now beginning to find an ability to pick individuals out of a crowd here! That's how alike everyone, especially middle aged men here, look! I mean that in a humerous way, though...please don't be mad!) Have any of these Roman Catholic Bishops ever faced any medical problems that contraindicate reproduction? Or are they just insecure, sexist pigs (no offense to pigs) with small, "inadequate" (see above article) body parts? Would that have been a factor in the career choice to become a Roman Catholic Bishop?

Shut the hell up, Roman Catholic Church! You've already caused enough trouble on this planet! You may view "change as inadequate", but a growing number of the rest of us view you as inadequate, in many ways.

Parents In Spain Throw Child Away

What the HELL is going on in the world, these days? I just noticed this article on Yahoo News. Here; I think I will just paste the whole, short article here:

MADRID (AP) — An official says a 2-year-old girl has been rescued from a dumpster after her parents abandoned her.

He says residents of the southeastern town of Cabezo de Torres were alarmed by sobbing sounds coming from the garbage container late Saturday and after removing several plastic bags of refuse found the girl "crying, sweating and with panic showing in her face."

The toddler's parents have been identified and arrested, and are awaiting trial on suspicion of having abandoned a minor, the official said Sunday on condition of anonymity in keeping with ministry rules."

Ya know.........Birth control IS available in Spain, just like it's available in the United States. I realize that there is a whole ocean, plus over a thousand miles of land mass in between me and where this little girl was found; but damn, couldn't someone have just brought her to me, before literally throwing her away? While I cannot possibly keep every child I fall in love with, I know that there are people out there who can and will, and before I would see a child, especially one who is old enough to remember the event, discarded in a trash dumpster, I will gladly help that child find a new home. I am pretty sure that I speak for many people, the world over. This should never have happened to this little girl.
