Happy New Year, everyone! Maybe there will be people who will stop using their feelings as thoughts, and stop using their opinions as observations. Peace and Love, everyone! That's where it's at!

Halloween Sabbat

Happy Halloween, everyone! This is also called Samhain, and on the Pagan calendar, it is the end of the year. This is the third harvest, at which time,our ancestors' tradition held that all agricultural harvesting should be complete. Some Pagan traditions celebrate this day on October 31; others celebrate it on the first full moon of Scorpio. This day is set aside as a day to honor deceased Ancestors. It is a bit like Memorial Day, and gifts of flowers, whiskey, chocolate, food, and tobacco were often left at graves, as gifts for the Dead.  Gourds and turnips were carved into scary candle holders called "jack-o-lanterns" to scare away any malevolent spirits, and the custom of dressing up in costumes, as fairies or spirits, was seen as a means of protection, as well.

Halloween is also reminiscent of the Greek legend of Hades and his capture of Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, Goddess of agriculture, plants, and harvest. When Persephone disappeared, Demeter let the earth become barren. When Zeus intervened, and determined that Persephone should be in the Underworld with her new consort for six months, then with Demeter for six months, the seasons as we know them began, so the story goes. This is how Persephone became Queen of the Dead, and when she rushes out of the Underworld in the Spring, life begins anew.

Favorite Troll Of 2013

Demonic Looking Troll

Not unlike last year, I had a hard time choosing my favorite troll for 2013. This past year gave me quite a few new trolls, and I even added some of the more annoying ones to my troll gadget! I finally settled on one, but I also decided to throw in a very vocal runner up. His name is Russel Morris, and he is the boyfriend of a very irresponsible daycare provider near Topeka, Kansas. He is not a licensed babysitter dude, yet seems to be present much of the time, even running the daycare, while his girlfriend, who really is supposed to run the home daycare, is not on the premises. When things go wrong, such as the Department of Children and Families shutting the place down, kids getting hurt, lost, or worse, and people getting arrested en masse at the daycare, he always seems present for these things, yet never seems to have an explanation for his presence. He does not like my opinions, as expressed on this site, and writes to me to let me know that "Lucifer" is hot on my trail, and demonic hordes will ride through Kansas, or something kinda like that. It's hard to know exactly what he means!

My favorite, though, is one that has not been vocal, but has followed me almost every day since late March of 2013. She makes hard copies of pages and posts on this site, and shows those pages to anyone and everyone who will stop and look, protesting the horror of constitutional rights, specifically the first amendment, benefitting someone other than herself or the government. Instead of doing her job, she spends hours at a time during the day, on her employer's computer and IP address, perusing this site. Her name is Laura McNish, and she is the county prosecutor of Marshall County, Kansas.

Mother Nature Wishes Everyone A Happy New Year

 

Many people enjoy manmade pyrotechnics on New Year's Eve. This is always fun, but this year, Vulcan and Pele have been hard at work, too. It appears that our planet is moving forward with her own agenda, and her own pyrotechnics, in the form of volcanos, in one of her ways of doing this. At this writing, there are many displaced people in El Salvador and Sumatra, due to volcanic eruptions within the last twenty-four hours.

 

Have a happy and productive 2014, everyone. Mother Nature is no respecter of persons, and we are all sharing this planet as a result of her grace and tolerance. Brightest Blessings!

Terri Horman! You've been bad this year! And last year! And the year before! And especially the year before that! Santa completely bypassed the lumps of coal and went directly to court summonses for you this year! The dates of those summons are right before Winter Solstice, December 19 and 20, and right after New Year's, January 2! No time, even for a hangover! What could Santa possibly be trying to say by that, Terri? That you've enjoyed enough holiday seasons at the expense of others? What'd you do?
