About That Phone Call, Kansas School Superintendent

Mischell Miller, what was your phone call really all about? You have never met me, or to my knowledge, any of my children. You are brand new at your post as superintendent at Vermilion Schools, USD 380, and it is quite clear to me that while you have met your employees, you do not know them very well. I spoke out about an incident that took place on March 3 of this year, in which a gun was taken to school by an eighteen year old senior, named Casey Farrant. Young Mr. Farrant was already on probation for a drunk driving incident that seriously injured four people, including himself. He was also out on bond for another crime. Yet he continued to be embraced by the school administration, no matter how much of a danger he posed to the other children, and to the staff. So why, when he took a weapon into the building, was he not expelled, according to the Gun Free School Zones Act?

A newer version of that law, first enacted in 1990, gives a state school board, which we don't really have here in Kansas, (unified school districts make that impossible) the authority to override the severity and not expel a student. But was Casey Farrant the student who would deserve such mercy and favor? Not only was he an adult at the time; he had a criminal record, to boot! Drugs were also found in his car. Was this the time for Principal Dean Dalinghaus to establish that guns are okay in Frankfort High School, and that there are no actual consequences when a student who isn't supposed to possess a gun in the first place decides to bring one to school and make threats? Keep in mind, Dean Dalingahus once tried to expel a disabled student because he was a VICTIM of several Frankfort bullies. Go ahead, Mischell, read it. You can shake it up and sprinkle it out any way you please; your principal will still be wrong. Very wrong. And don't even start with pretending you know how he would react, and that his actions must certainly have been correct, because he is a building administrator: I already spoke with witnesses and with the victim, as did my daughter. We know what happened, and we informed Deanie-Boy of the law. Why did we have to? Why didn't he obey the law in the first place and discipline the students who were actually in the wrong? Only Jesus knows! But feel free to call me. I can give you more information about the incident, and let you know what the victim's healthcare provider and what his ad litem had to say about it. That's the day I truly started to hate Dean Dalinghaus and his trashy little school. No kidding.

I mentioned the practice of speaking with witnesses and victims. Yes, that is helpful, when "conducting an investigation" (did you really do that, about the Casey Farrant thing?) or just finding out what happened in a school where all the employees prevaricate and sweep unlawful behaviors under the rug. You mentioned to me that you "investigated" the problems encountered by Frankfort High School, prior to taking your new position as superintendent. Then you expressed surprise that three students were arrested there during the school year of 2014-2015, not just one. I agree, in a school that only has about one hundred and fifty students from kindergarten to twelfth grade, Deanie-boy really should have been in better control of all of them. But then, the student with the loaded gun was actually in charge, wasn't he? If that isn't disturbing enough, you should be unhappily surprised about not having been told the whole story by those you supervise. I am not surprised at all, but as I stated earlier, you apparently don't know them very well. I do have a question for you at this juncture, though; how does one conduct an "investigation", especially a thorough one, without talking to any of the witnesses? The answer is simple: you don't. You didn't really investigate anything. And that should bother you a lot more than it bothers me. After all, you are the one in daily contact with people who allow guns taken into their places of employment by people who have been convicted of crimes and are out on bond, awaiting trial for even more crime. The fact that the guns are most likely obtained from parents who also do not care about the safety of anyone for whom you are responsible should bother you, too.

My guess, after your call, was that your contact was somehow all about damage control. I do not believe you have any concerns about my preferences, my past experience with life, or my children. I am not altogether sure that you care about federal law, either. I also don't think you have the guts to stand up to the adult bullies in this berg and let them know you make your own decisions about what you do with your time, and with whom you spend it. I do not see that you are individuated that much, as a person. In my experience, those who are usually listen, rather than defend what they do not understand. And you are defending a tragedy waiting to happen. Isn't it ironic that a tragedy involving a shooting happened at a school in Roseburg, Oregon the very day after you called? "Oh....that won't happen here," you might say. Well guess what; Casey Farrant actually did take the gun to school here in Frankfort! Rather than allowing Dean Dalinghaus and Company to put the safety of all of our children and our Second Amendment rights at risk, why not simply insist upon compliance with federal law about all things that go on in both of your schools?

Kansas Public Schools Charge Tuition

Some of the public schools in Kansas have taken to the unlawful practice of charging "enrollment fees". This is against federal law, and every time a case concerning enrollment fees has gone to court, brought by either the school or parents, the parents have won because the practice of charging for public education is unlawful. The American Civil Liberties Union has gotten involved in a few cases involving this issue, as well.

It appears that the (ahem) school, and I use the word "school" very loosely here, in Frankfort, Kansas is up to their usual unlawful stunts again in regard to extorting money from parents. The "tuition" charged this year for each student is $50.00. This does not include activity fees. There is no information revealing the purpose of the fee, or what is actually covered by it. Frankfort does, after all, garner state and federal dollars, in order to pay staff to yak on their cell phones most of the day, or surf the internet. Why is it all-encompassing to charge money that is legally not allowed to be charged?

In the past, when yours truly sent children to school in Frankfort, she refused to pay the "enrollment fees", stating emphatically that her "fees" were already covered by the mill levy and property taxes she pays each year. This would naturally bring on threats from the principal, promising everything from refusal to admit students to crying to a collection agency. The principal discovered that he cannot refuse to enroll any student in his district, regardless of fees; and that legitimate collection agencies are loth to intervene in matters wherein the so-called obligor owes nothing.

Another School Uses Bullies Against Disabled Child

A twelve year old boy with Aspergers Syndrome, a form of autism, is hospitalized with a cracked skull now, because his classmates at Liberty Middle School in Liberty Missouri thought that beating him up in the cafeteria was a good example of social skills. A bigger kid took the boy's backpack and moved it away from his seat, during lunch. After all, why not? Who is an autistic child to argue with a big, athletic, monster whose behavior is reinforced by a school that does nothing to stop constant assaults by the same bully? After all, in unified school districts, each school can pretty much do as it pleases, and bullies are a great way to get rid of disabled students.

The administration of the public school in Frankfort, Kansas attempted the same with a disabled child in the same grade as the child who was injured at Liberty Middle School. The principal waited until the state and federal "enrollment dollars" came in for each student, then encouraged some bigger boys, two grades ahead of the disabled child, to beat him up in a shower stall in the boys locker room. No teacher was present at the time. Afterward, the principal, Dean Dalinghaus, called the boy's parents and lied, blaming the boy!  He was actually planning to expel the victim, because he doesn't like autistic children. The truth came out when one of the bullies bragged about the incident to the disabled child's older sister. Dean Dalinghaus almost crapped himself when he found out that the Americans With Disabilities Act is a real thing.

At Liberty Middle School, there have been other incidents involving the same bully and the same victim. In the past, the school has ignored all of it. This time, the victim spent four days in the hospital with serious injuries, so ignoring it and telling the parent that her child is not as important as a football player was not an option. Because of that, Liberty Middle School is "investigating the incident". So are police: the bully is currently in juvenile detention. Frankfort, on the other hand, did not bother to take any action against bullying.

In Case You Slept Through Church On Sunday

In case you slept through church on Sunday and didn't hear, a child at Negreet High School, in Sabine Parish, Louisiana, was bullied by a teacher in class because he failed to understand Christian jargon on a test. When she wanted to know if it was "amazing what the ______ had made", he wasn't able to answer the question or fill in the blank. Besides the fact that this question appeared on a science test, and christian myth has very little to do with science, the sixth grade boy is of Thai background, and his family is Buddhist. Rita Roark, the teacher, will not give students credit for any work in science class reflecting any theory besides creation, and the notion that the earth and all life is only six thousand years old. His parents were already offended by the electric marquee that generates bible verses in front of the school, and when they complained, Principal Gene Wright told the Buddhist parents that "this is the bible belt", and that the law mandating no religion in public school was not applicable because of that prime bible belt location! Wright was not concerned in the slightest that Roark had informed the sixth grader, before the entire class, that "Buddhism is stupid". When the parents took their complaints to the superintendent, Sara Ebarb, she suggested that they change their religion! When they told her they were not going to convert to christianity, she told them that they should send their son to a school in a different school district, about thirty miles away, that had more children from different cultures!

Not only does Negreet High School unlawfully overlook Abingdon School District v. Schempp, which guarantees and prescribes that all public school children be educated in a non-religious environment, but Brown v. The Board Of Education In Topeka clearly grants public school children the right to attend the closest public school, un-harassed, with no pressure to convert to any religion and no favoritism of one religion or culture over another. This is very reminiscent of Frankfort High School, in Northeast Kansas. Teachers mercilessly bully any child whose parents are not christians, and have pressured yours truly to convert or attend one of their half baked churches countless times. The minister of one of those churches had the gall to ask me if my Dad was "satanic", and if I had learned my religious and cultural identities from him, which, as a matter of fact, I did; but the suggestion that my father is "satanic" insulted me to the extent that I will never allow my children to enter her filthy church again. Quite a few of the christian young people in Frankfort Kansas, the same ones who drive through the lawns and onto the porches of others in attempts to hit small children and pets, use religion at their PUBLIC school as a fulcrum from which to bully others and make them miserable. Dean Dalinghaus, the principal at Frankfort, clearly states that the 1963 FEDERAL law does not apply to him or to Frankfort School because the "majority" did not wish to obey the law. Curiously, this is his approach when faced with other criminal behaviors among faculty members, too. Predictably, the ACLU does not agree with Dean Dalinghaus, and he is very upset that he is no longer welcome to invite non-christians to "get saved" at school functions anymore. A little less predictably, he whined, complained, and threatened when I stopped holding Frankfort accountable to Brown v. the Board of Education and enrolled my children in USD 497 Lawrence, a considerable distance away. It turned out that he was grubbing for enrollment dollars, and Lawrence got the money granted by the state that my children would have brought this year, rather than Frankfort. Dalinghaus will not be bothered with equality and the lawful administration of a school, but puts on quite a production as an enrollment dollar whore.

The ACLU is now assisting in a lawsuit against Negreet High School in Sabine Parish. I will be following the proceedings with great interest. I predict that all the schools in Sabine Parish will find themselves obliged to become more professional and law abiding in the very near future, and when the case is concluded, I will not hesitate to remind the judicial system in Kansas that USD 380, which pimps Frankfort High School, treated my children in the very same manner that Negreet High School treats Buddhist children.

Enroll A Child In School With No birth Certificate

Want to know where you can still enroll a child in school with no birth certificate, despite federal law, requiring that a school see a valid birth certificate prior to enrollment? Frankfort, in Frankfort Kansas will do this for you! Actually, you do not necessarily even need to prove that you have legal custody of a child, or that you are, indeed, one of the child's parents in order to enroll! Dean Dalinghaus, the principal at Frankfort, is so bent on harvesting all the dollars he can harvest for enrolling as many children as possible, while providing as little classroom instruction as possible, that he will enroll anyone under four feet tall! He will probably enroll dogs, cats, and parakeets if he can find inactive social security numbers or other identities for them!

I wonder which class Frankfort found for this new student.
