About That Phone Call, Kansas School Superintendent

Mischell Miller, what was your phone call really all about? You have never met me, or to my knowledge, any of my children. You are brand new at your post as superintendent at Vermilion Schools, USD 380, and it is quite clear to me that while you have met your employees, you do not know them very well. I spoke out about an incident that took place on March 3 of this year, in which a gun was taken to school by an eighteen year old senior, named Casey Farrant. Young Mr. Farrant was already on probation for a drunk driving incident that seriously injured four people, including himself. He was also out on bond for another crime. Yet he continued to be embraced by the school administration, no matter how much of a danger he posed to the other children, and to the staff. So why, when he took a weapon into the building, was he not expelled, according to the Gun Free School Zones Act?

A newer version of that law, first enacted in 1990, gives a state school board, which we don't really have here in Kansas, (unified school districts make that impossible) the authority to override the severity and not expel a student. But was Casey Farrant the student who would deserve such mercy and favor? Not only was he an adult at the time; he had a criminal record, to boot! Drugs were also found in his car. Was this the time for Principal Dean Dalinghaus to establish that guns are okay in Frankfort High School, and that there are no actual consequences when a student who isn't supposed to possess a gun in the first place decides to bring one to school and make threats? Keep in mind, Dean Dalingahus once tried to expel a disabled student because he was a VICTIM of several Frankfort bullies. Go ahead, Mischell, read it. You can shake it up and sprinkle it out any way you please; your principal will still be wrong. Very wrong. And don't even start with pretending you know how he would react, and that his actions must certainly have been correct, because he is a building administrator: I already spoke with witnesses and with the victim, as did my daughter. We know what happened, and we informed Deanie-Boy of the law. Why did we have to? Why didn't he obey the law in the first place and discipline the students who were actually in the wrong? Only Jesus knows! But feel free to call me. I can give you more information about the incident, and let you know what the victim's healthcare provider and what his ad litem had to say about it. That's the day I truly started to hate Dean Dalinghaus and his trashy little school. No kidding.

I mentioned the practice of speaking with witnesses and victims. Yes, that is helpful, when "conducting an investigation" (did you really do that, about the Casey Farrant thing?) or just finding out what happened in a school where all the employees prevaricate and sweep unlawful behaviors under the rug. You mentioned to me that you "investigated" the problems encountered by Frankfort High School, prior to taking your new position as superintendent. Then you expressed surprise that three students were arrested there during the school year of 2014-2015, not just one. I agree, in a school that only has about one hundred and fifty students from kindergarten to twelfth grade, Deanie-boy really should have been in better control of all of them. But then, the student with the loaded gun was actually in charge, wasn't he? If that isn't disturbing enough, you should be unhappily surprised about not having been told the whole story by those you supervise. I am not surprised at all, but as I stated earlier, you apparently don't know them very well. I do have a question for you at this juncture, though; how does one conduct an "investigation", especially a thorough one, without talking to any of the witnesses? The answer is simple: you don't. You didn't really investigate anything. And that should bother you a lot more than it bothers me. After all, you are the one in daily contact with people who allow guns taken into their places of employment by people who have been convicted of crimes and are out on bond, awaiting trial for even more crime. The fact that the guns are most likely obtained from parents who also do not care about the safety of anyone for whom you are responsible should bother you, too.

My guess, after your call, was that your contact was somehow all about damage control. I do not believe you have any concerns about my preferences, my past experience with life, or my children. I am not altogether sure that you care about federal law, either. I also don't think you have the guts to stand up to the adult bullies in this berg and let them know you make your own decisions about what you do with your time, and with whom you spend it. I do not see that you are individuated that much, as a person. In my experience, those who are usually listen, rather than defend what they do not understand. And you are defending a tragedy waiting to happen. Isn't it ironic that a tragedy involving a shooting happened at a school in Roseburg, Oregon the very day after you called? "Oh....that won't happen here," you might say. Well guess what; Casey Farrant actually did take the gun to school here in Frankfort! Rather than allowing Dean Dalinghaus and Company to put the safety of all of our children and our Second Amendment rights at risk, why not simply insist upon compliance with federal law about all things that go on in both of your schools?

Crazy Racist Principal Is Fired

Nancy Gordeuk, the crazy racist high school principal who ruined graduation for the seniors at TNT Academy in Georgia, has been officially relieved of her duties as a school employee. Apparently, the private school's investors did not accept her excuse, "the devil made me do it", as a legitimate reason for ruining graduation. Perhaps the devil was annoyed, too. After all, his reputation takes a beating when people like Nancy Gordeuk and her ilk (fundamentalist christians) do not wish to take responsibility for their actions. While it is a very wonderful thing that she will no longer be extended the privilege of badly influencing the young people at TNT Academy, the graduating class of 2015 will never be given their graduation back. Because she's a bigot, Nancy Gordeuk ruined a once in a lifetime event for these students.

The Last Turd In The Punch Bowl; Vermont Schools

Addison Rutland Supervisory Union, a Vermont school district, learned an important lesson last week about violating the civil rights of parents. A $147,000 lesson, to be exact. The school thought that a teacher who whined and complained about a concerned father was more important than the community, which included the father, so they barred him from attending any meetings about his child or any functions. They cited teacher fear as the reason, and the behavior they listed was simply the father's normal speaking voice, which apparently was not musically sweet enough for them, and his failure to achieve agreement with whatever silly-assed thingies had become all encompassing to the teachers and the school at the time. This is what a lot of public schools do when they perceive turds is their punch bowls......or, "koolaide" bowls, as the case may be!

A federal judge, on the other hand, determined that the school district was, (drum roll) wrong, and that the school had discriminated against Marcel Cyr. He was NOT required to belong to a protected minority, either; his rights as a member of the community and as a parent had been violated. His position as a parent was determined to be more important than a teachers desire for guaranteed and continued parental agreement. Since the ruling came from  federal judge, this is a bummer for public school teachers everywhere, not just in Vermont!

There was a principal in Northeast Kansas who tried something similar when a parent disagreed with one of his teachers. The parent, a mother this time, found herself in a state of disagreement with a teacher who dropped a female high school freshman off by herself on a highway and left her there; the only occupied house being the dwelling of a sex offender. When the parent discovered the latter, she dropped by the school to ask what protections are afforded children in the presence of sex offenders. She took a copy of the pertinent Kansas sex offender registry page with her. The principal, upon looking at the information, crumpled it, tossed it, and told her that the man was not really an offender! Seriously? The parent had only lived there for about a year, not long enough to peruse the criminal cases of individuals she had not even met, so she felt obliged to take the word of a Kansas jury or the plea of the defendant, himself, as the actual upshot, here. The principal ended his rant by leaning over the counter in the office, index finger extended, nearly taking a slice out of the mother's right eye! Not only did she disagree on many levels, she called the police.

Mr. Northeast Kansas principal ( also called Dean Dalinghaus) got a visit from an officer, who not only wanted to know why he had been so violent, but wanted to know what children were doing, unsupervised, so close to sex offenders and why a child had been lost for the better part of a day with no missing persons report. A whole slew of unanswered questions about school policy ensued, and it was perceived that there may be a "turd in the punch bowl". Since the koolaide previously served by the school to the community involved the lie that there was never any crime, nor any potential for the same, and no dangers that are not necessarily to crime: implementation of child safety standards used by the rest of the nation would never work out in this part of Kansas. So the mother was banned from school. But guess what? The principal's boss decided otherwise, he made the principal apologize! He not only cleaned out the punch bowl of the real turd, rather than the perceived turd, but he also dumped out as much of the koolaide as the local school board would allow. From the looks of things, he may have also saved USD 380 $147,000!

The superintendent of the school district in Vermont decided that if he could not discriminate against dissenting parents anymore, he would just have to take more money away from the children and education to hire an off-duty police officer to stand guard at meetings and other school events. Not only did he throw away the award of the lawsuit, he is willing to continue to throw away childrens' education dollars, over pettiness and perceived turds in the punch bowl.

In Case You Skipped Church This Sunday

Contrary to what I was told by the priest of Annunciation Catholic Church, in Frankfort, Kansas; bad people are sometimes told to leave church and not come back. In fact, Pope Francis is kicking out the Mafia. I'm impressed. The priest in Frankfort told me that the high school guidance counselor who recklessly endangered a child by abandoning her four miles south of school "just made a mistake", and "should be forgiven"; and that the principal, a member of his congregation, is "a good man" even though he blamed an autistic child for an incident in which the autistic child was assaulted and battered by several older and bigger boys. This administrator was actually going to punish the autistic child, until his guardian, yours truly, made him aware of the Americans With Disabilities Act. Well and good, but what about the creepy church and it's carte blanche handed to it's members to harm and bully others any time they please, both locally and globally? After all, an autistic child certainly doesn't matter to any of the Gods, does he? The reverend and the principal might be surprised. Apparently, the padre was wrong when he told me that violent, rotten people should be free to go to church every Sunday and convince the rest of the community that they are good people.

It has never been easy for me to co-exist with the social girls and boys club called "Christianity", but now that I have actually heard a fucking priest call the school principal who lies and discriminates against autistic and disabled children a "good man", I have seriously not wanted anything to do with christians. Now, at least I know that the Pope does not agree with the notion that God loves enabling criminals and grants them assistance in harming their victims. Not that I will ever feel that I can safely allow my children to mingle with anyone who attends his church...it isn't safe...but at least I know the local priest is playing politics, and doesn't really care about morals.

As an encore, Reverend Sullivan told the victim of a hate crime that she was at fault for the actions of her assailant.

A Fourth Reason To Consolidate Kansas Schools

Wouldn't it be nice if Kansas schools, like schools everywhere else in the nation, were administrated by educators, rather than politicians? Wouldn't it also be nice if every principal in Kansas had a degree in teaching and a few years of experience in the same? This provides yet another reason for consolidation of schools: tiny, often errant, independent little school boards comprising "unified" school districts, sometimes do not bother to hire qualified people for this post, making victims of all the students and their parents. That's what happened in Kansas USD 380. There should probably be an audit of USD 380's standardized test scores for the past ten years or so, too.

Teachers Surprised When Parents Speak Up

This is a complete outrage. A Michigan teacher bullies and jeers at an autistic student trapped in a chair, rather than helping him. She also encourages the rest of the class to do the same. Then the principal chimes in to announce that freeing him is not a matter of high priority. He wisely resigned, after the boy's parents shared the video the teacher played several times more the class, ridiculing the child.

Frankfort Kansas has a coach who "lost" a student during cross country practice, one day. Actually, since she was the only girl in attendance for cross country practice that day, she was dropped off by herself on a road where she had never been. When she got lost, and did not come back, Tom Schroeder, the cross country coach guidance counselor, not unlike the Michigan principal above, did not think it was a priority to find her. If he did, he certainly would have notified the teen's parents and law enforcement. But it wasn't a priority at Frankfort High School. Should he still be employed? Those of us who care about children all think not. Yet someone creepy little soul had this to say to yours truly for writing about it:

"Let's be clear here, if anyone is in a position to be sued, it is you. For slander. Most of this post is a lie. Your daughter wasn't running alone. The cross country kids have always been dropped off in a group. She at least started with the other kids. She wasn't on some desolate road. Tom has always dropped the kids off in the same area, and there are TONS of houses along the way."

The person who wrote this comment, or threat, to be more accurate; to me is nothing but a piece of filth. First of all, my daughter was running alone that day. To say anything else is a complete lie. Unfortunately, the intimation that the coach has always dumped the children on various stretches of back road and highway is true; with the twist that it has been in different places. A week earlier, the coach was using Centralia, and the road where he abandoned my daughter is not in Centralia. As for tons of houses in Marshall County Kansas, especially on Route 9, Utah Road, or any of the other side roads in that area, this sender of this comment is either very ignorant or very dishonest. Something that is quite clear on the sender's part is a desire to shut me up so that children in Frankfort may continue to be vulnerable to abuse from strangers or anyone known to them who may drive past, wherever Tom Schroeder has left them. I, like the parents who shocked the school in Michigan by sharing their footage of their son's abusive teacher, will never stop my public discussion of this incident until Frankfort School and USD 380 has publicly denounced this abuse of children, complete with actual, public sanctions against the abuser, and either consolidated with an actual, state run school system and become an actual school, or shut it's doors forever.

What were you really trying to do to my daughter, that day, Tom? Since you did not send me to go find her or pick her up? You also never once called her father, who didn't live in Kansas, and therefore would have done something counterproductive to the way Frankfort High School operates....specifically; he would have called the FBI or the KBI, who would have helped me find my daughter! But what were you really trying to accomplish by leaving her by herself, then keeping her status as lost and missing a complete secret from the police and from me? From the perspective of a person who spent most of her life among real people with real lives, your actions here do not look good. It's why I hate you so much.

Northeast Kansas Principal Blames Victims For Actions Of Bullies

Has anyone ever had to cope with a bully at school? How about three or four bullies, at the same time? Lets build on this; has anyone ever had a disability, such as blindness, hearing impairment, or autism, and had to cope with violent bullies? And then, when the incident was over, been blamed for the whole thing by the principal, and had him phone home to tell your parents that YOU started the fight, and that he was giving you detention, while the bullies who beat you up sneered? This is exactly what happened, shortly after I moved to Northeast Kansas, to an autistic child of whom I have legal guardianship. He was in sixth grade, and some eighth grade boys thought it would be amusing to drag him into a shower stall in the boys locker room and smash his head into the wall and fixtures. My child had no defense but to bite one of the bullies. After the bully session was stopped, my child was too frightened to say a word; he was literally quiet, after the manner of children with autism, and the bullies (whose parents are friends with the principal) glibly lied about the incident.

When I got the phone call from the principal, school had just ended. My daughter walked in the door just in time to understand the gist of the conversation I was having with the principal. Basically, he told me that my child had bitten another student. He did not say a word about the locker room, or the fact that there were three older, bigger children beating on him, he just said that my child was in trouble for biting someone. When I got off the phone, my daughter explained to me that those three boys had just finished bragging to her about how cool it was that they got away with beating up a sixth grader and got away with lying about it. I was so angry as I walked to the school that I couldn't even see straight. Apparently, this principal's method of operation when dealing with bullying had always been to blame the victim. And in an autistic child, he thought he had the perfect victim; he just hadn't counted on an honest child, not from Kansas, coming forward with the truth. Ha!

The next morning, when Mr. Principal continued to pompously blame the victim, he was educated about the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act, with which he was NOT familiar. He still wanted to give detention to the victim. I asked him how badly he wanted to hear from a civil rights attorney, and how much media coverage he desired. He backed down from his stance of punishing the victim, but I have never been able to like or respect this man, and have never encouraged my children to truly respect him, outside of the cursory respect one must give the administrator of a school. In a recent conversation with him, he told me that he pushes Christianity on the children as much as he can legally get away with it, because it's "his job" to teach the children morals! Now I know where the above described bullies learned THEIR morals! But it certainly is not the principal's job to teach morals to MY children! It seems rather, that in my Pagan home, my children have learned much better morals than the children whose morals came from the principal of this school. But.....ever moving forward, all of my children know about this incident, and that their school administrator LIED to me about a child who was not able to defend himself. LIED; and in doing so, sent a message to the bullies that it is okay, not only with the school system to pick violently on disabled children, but okay with "Jesus".

Phone Call To Northeast Kansas School's Insurance Company

At a meeting at my childrens' school yesterday, I was told by the secretary that while the superintendent had, indeed, told everyone concerned that all adults not employed by the school should, upon entrance to the building, sign in at the office, he was not serious and that it was not actually required. The principal backed her up, stating the the school's lawyer had told him that accounting for adult presences in the building in such a manner was unnecessary. So we are back to everyone from the local Avon lady pimping last year's lipstick shade in the hallway to the local sex offender registrants dropping in to use the restrooms. A "visaul" sign-in, wherein the secretary personally knows everyone who might pop in for some reason, and remembers each and every person who passes through the office will be just fine, no need to take the same precautions the rest of the nation's schools take in protecting children. And, oh.....the secretary absolutely knows everyone who might enter the school, too. And she is clairvoyant enough to know exactly which people present danger or have ulterior and unlawful motives and which people are innocent parents. Without a doubt. She will also psychically know if someone has gotton into the building, completely escaping her notice, and is hiding out in the janitor's closet, at which time she will call the principal and the football coach, who, in turn, can handle any emergency. This makes me uncomfortable, as my children are entitled to a safer school experience than that. It also is not compliant with the requirements of public schools in the rest of Kansas, or America, for that matter. It also is not only a tragedy waiting to happen, but a liability waiting to happen, so I decided to skip the normal channels I usually use when providing government employees with new anal passages and called Insurance Services of Seneca, who covers the school's insurance needs, and spoke with a young man named Matt Bachman about the liability and risk with which his company is involved. He listened, and was a bit surprised that the school board was unconcerned about students and their safety. It was also a bit of a surprise to hear that the superintendent would promise a parent one thing, and immediately negate that promise without telling the parent. What stunned him the most, though, is the statement I made about missing children, evidence, and law enforcement. If a child were ever to disappear from that particular school, law enforcement and the FBI would need a written list of every, single adult to enter the building on the day said child went missing. "Visual" sign-ins and the wiles of an inexperienced secretary DO NOT count. Without that information, a crime such as a kidnapping could take years to solve, if it was ever solved. As a taxpayor, I certainly have a right to higher standards than that for my children. Another thing about which I made him aware is this: if anything unsavory happens to any of my children at this school, and investigations reveal that it could have been prevented with simple accountability that was not implemented, I WILL take action. It will be an open and shut case, because children do have rights to appropriate protection, and after my lawyer is paid, someone WILL be making a hefty donation to the National Center For Missing And Exploited Children. If not the school district itself, the insurance company who covers the school district would probably have to pay. Insurance companies will not cover drivers who consistantly get pulled over for DWI, and they quibble about pre-existing conditions; well how is allowing the public at large access to a school for a pre-existing condition?

Thankyou so much, Matt Bachman, for listening to me, and thankyou for caring enough to try to stop a tragedy before it happens.

Letter To School Superintendent In Kansas

Here's a letter I wrote to the superintendent of schools in the school district that includes my childrens' school. I have substituted the letter X for proper nouns, as identities of individuals and places are not necessary to the point of my letter.

Dear Mr. XXXX,
I was in the office at XXXX School yesterday, returning two of my children to school after an appointment at the eye doctor. One of the first people I noticed, because he was out of place, was a Mr. HXXXX, (I have forgotton his first name) who lives in town, but no longer has any children who attend this school. Not only did his name NOT appear on the sign-in sheet that you told me would remain in the office for any adult who visits the building but is not on the payroll; I am curious about the need for his volunteer services and his qualifications. My children cannot participate in certain sports, because you have spurned my offers to volunteer based on my popularity scores here in XXXX that have little to do with my character or other qualifications, which probably, by far, exceed the qualifications of other parents who volunteer at your school. Have you checked the criminal record of Mr. HXXXX? His two sons, who are both young adults, still live in his house, and I have personally heard them both discuss the use of illegal drugs. Mr. HXXXX was physically present when his sons were speaking. Apparently, Mr.HXXXX does not take prohibition laws seriously. After hearing those comments, I do not allow my daughter to even visit that home to buy Avon from his wife. I don't want my children in that type of environment. Also, I have seen him allow minors, his sons, when they were still in high school, to drink beer in his home. This is not the person I find appropriate to volunteer in the school, and share his "influence" with my children, thankyou very much. Also, since this is such a small town, and since at least one of Mr. HXXXX's children has experienced "run-ins" with the law in the past, in connection to violations of prohibition laws and alcohol, I will contend that your principal, Mr. DXXXX, was aware of this, yet welcomed him into the building anyway.
Since the rules apply stringently to yours truly, to the extent of her own children not being able to participate in sports because the adult/child ratio is unsafe in your school during these activities, and that does not bother you; I am curious to know why Mr. HXXXX, who violates the law in connection to children and alcohol in ways I would never even consider, is welcomed with open arms into your building. Would you please explain the bias to me? Also, why is he not required to sign in, as I do, whenever I enter your building? Why does his wife use your school as a venue for her Avon business? I sold Avon on the East Coast, and would never have considered a school building an appropriate place to dispense product and collect revenue for same. This takes the attention of teachers and other staff away from children and creates an atmosphere of business other than education. It is not safe for the students. Please make it stop.
I have one more question for you. Is this IP number, XXXX, in any way associated with computers in your school buildings? If so, you have at least one teacher who harrasses others for political reasons. My children and I should NOT KNOW where anyone on your staff stands on issues such as abortion, yet we do, and we should certainly not know for whom any of your teachers intends to vote! Please ask them to all be less obvious about their political stances.

Sincerely,
XXXX

............In all fairness, I should convey that the superintendent did respond to my letter, the same day he got it. He told me that the sign-in sheet in the office would be in use from now on, whether the local Kansas folk wished for that or not. He also told me that the Avon Lady would no longer be making stops at the school, as this is against policy for several reasons. I should add that the Avon Lady also never bothers to sign in at my childrens' school, and moves freely through the building as if she worked there or had children there. Neither apply to her.

The superintendent was not able to explain the inherent nastiness and unjust prejudism expressed by these people toward myself and other members of my family. He was not able to explain the constant pressure to vote for a presidential candidate who is not of my choosing. He was also not able to tell me why my children and I even know for whom most of these teachers intend to vote. He and I both agreed that if a child ever disappears from this particular school or is otherwise harmed there, the FBI will be VERY interested in the number of unofficially present adults in the school from day to day, and in their identities, activities, and criminal records. That said, it seems to me that persons who have unlawful recreational drugs in their homes from time to time, and persons who allow minors to drink alcoholic beverages in their homes, should take heed.
