Lets Have Some Music!

Remember Watergate? Specifically, all the great music with which creative artists responded to the corruption? We need our artists to commemorate the goings-on of today with some music! Lets take entertainment back from the corporations that have come to control it and make music great again!

Keith Emerson, 1944-2016

Keith Emerson, of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, was found deceased today in his home in Santa Monica. He was one of the most creative composers of the latter half of the last century. We lost one of the greats, today.

Another Christian Pervert Teacher

Here's a little trivia from Virginia; a guy named Luis Mendez, a music teacher, is now in jail, without bond, for charges stemming from an inappropriate sexual relationship with a seventeen year old female student. Hmm...where has yours truly heard about things like that before? Any ideas, Frankfort Kansas? The community of Bedford County is duly disgusted with him, and the judge held him without bail because he's been determined to be a flight risk. It seems he asked his victim to let him know if the police were going to charge him, so he could flee the area before they found him! Oh; here's some more dirt that's been dug up about him.......he also once worked as a part time music leader at Blue Ridge Community Church and he left his wife after getting a nineteen year old student pregnant! He should have done all this in a tiny little town in Northeast Kansas, instead! The folks there would have allowed him to marry at least one of the victims and they would have covered for him, rather than holding him accountable, and he wouldn't have had to worry about being jailed at all, let alone held without bond! Location, location, location!

Happy Birthday Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix performing Voodoo Child

James Marshall Hendrix; November 27, 1942 - September 18, 1970. The best guitarist ever to exist.

Thankyou, Jimi Hendrix, for reminding me that the pulse of life, complete with our unique abilities and talents, do not flow without an equal exchange of energy. While it may look like a sacrifice, we must remember to feed the spirits who feed us. I was beginning to forget. What a powerful bard you are!

While not everyone will completely understand what I just said, everyone should understand how important music and art are in the world. Harmony and balance have a lot in common. The world could certainly use more harmony.

My Ancestors will hear more appreciation from me from now on.

Cinderella Into The Woods

Congratulations to Marysville Area Community Theatre for their superb performance of Into The Woods (music by Steven Soundheim and book by James Lapine) this past weekend at Marysville High School, in Marysville, Kansas! The music and singing were wonderful, and the actors terrific; a wonderful bunch, both on and off stage. The hard work and long hours were certainly worth every minute, and the talent is impressive. Thankyou, especially, to Carla Wolfe, for casting my daughter, Rhiannon, as Cinderella. The role has given her tons of confidence, and her summer was the best ever, because of you! I had no idea Rhiannon could sing so well on stage, and she made me very proud. More pictures and some video are forthcoming!

Happy Birthday, Janis Joplin!

Happy Birthday, Janis Joplin! You would be seventy years old today, if you were still with us! Yes; you are an inspiration to us all! I mean.....taking musical instruments to school in your backpack in case you needed to burst into song at an unpredicted moment in time? So much better than taking weapons to school....didn't any of the adults in your life understand that? Peace and Love; that's where it's at!

Thankyou for everything, Janis!

Ravi Shankar

Ravi Shankar died yesterday at age ninety-two. He was an Indian musician who played the sitar, and he influenced quite a few modern musicians, such as George Harrison, with traditional Indian music.

Anyone Remember Soul Train And Don Cornelius?

How sad. Don Cornelius, the creator of Soul Train, which aired from 1971 to 2006, was found deceased. It appears to have been a suicide, which is very sad. I hope he knew how much he contributed to the music world, and how much art he promoted. As a child, I LOVED Soul Train! His presence certainly made a difference in my world.
