Cowboy Hats

Roy Moore, (R)  refuses to step out of the Alabama senate race, after credible allegations of sexual misconduct over the years. Republicans in Washington, DC seem a bit flustered, and would rather see a different candidate, one with fewer character flaws, run. Well, well, well. The Trump White House does have a weapon with which to deal with members of Congress and the Senate when it finds itself at odds with representatives of the American people. Does anyone remember the comments of John Kelly,  Trump's Chief of Staff, when he recently attacked Florida Democrat Congresswoman Frederica Wilson? Ms. Wilson thought Donald Trump's remarks to one of her constituents, a gold star widow, were crass and unfeeling. After she said this, the attack from the White House ensued, despite the fact that Wilson represents American citizens.

The solution seems simple: the Trump White House should just badmouth the candidates and representatives it does not like. After all, it is okay to treat an honorable Democrat that way; why not a dishonorable Republican? The truth is, Donald Trump and his staff should not interfere with the electoral choices of any American citizens, but he does, from time to time. He attacks Democrats, and he attacks Republicans who put their constituencies ahead of the Trump agenda. So why not denounce the behavior of someone who is immoral? Roy Moore has a habit of getting removed from office, and does not appear to care about the law, or the American people. What's wrong with speaking about these things, in addition to current allegations, from the White House? Or is the White House only a launch for attacks on decent people, not on those who actually violate the law?

Perhaps the Chief of Staff likes Roy Moore's hat better than he like's Frederica Wilson's hat. Yeah; that's it. Seriously......if the Republican party has problems with individuals such as Roy Moore, it should start putting Americans ahead of agendas that are not good for America. As for those Christian Republicans who keep defending Roy Moore, perhaps someone should ask them why they would stand with someone who truly isn't above reproach.

I Hope You Heard This, Laura McNish

I hope, Laura McNish, county attorney of Marshall County, Kansas, that you have been paying attention to recent events. Do you remember when you advised the principal of a public school here in Marshall County, Kansas to tell one of my children that she wasn't welcome in school because she might "ruin the culture"? Even though all the other children from my community ARE welcome there? My child, unlike most of the children who attend public schools in YOUR county, had no criminal history, had never used illegal drugs, and had never even tasted alcohol. You just wanted to hurt her feelings. She did not accept your monetary offer to render false information in court, like a couple of other people did, in that case that you LOST back in 2013, so you requested that she be the victim of discrimination.

Guess what? The nation is starting to see people like you more clearly. Not only are you racist; you favor bigots who offer you money over honesty and truth. The combination of modern technology and the First Amendment to our Constitution have conspired to make this a very awkward time in history for you to continue your crap. Your racist and white separatist goals were never good for any part of Kansas, and certainly have no place now. Equality and love are what I have always taught my children, and it looks as if I might not have been alone, after all.

I really hope you have noticed all the recent developments. Oh, by the way, was your son ever publicly held accountable for driving one of your vehicles over someone's cornfield in Marshall County, Kansas, in the summer of 2013? You know....the same way OTHER young people would have been held accountable? Or is accountability only for other people, and not your children?

Just resign, Laura. No one needs your racism, favoritism, and filth.

White House Tapes Are A Hot Item Again

Why would Trump mention tapes, in this day and age, when we can record our surroundings on our phones? Chances are, the only recordings of his conversation with Jim Comey, when he asked Comey to stop investigation Mike Flynn, were cell phone recordings. Trump should stop thinking he can act like a mob boss and start understanding that he must play nicely with others.

Lets Have Some Music!

Remember Watergate? Specifically, all the great music with which creative artists responded to the corruption? We need our artists to commemorate the goings-on of today with some music! Lets take entertainment back from the corporations that have come to control it and make music great again!

Coretta Scott King's Letter

Yesterday, on the Senate floor, Mitch McConnell stopped Elizabeth Warren from reading a letter written by Coretta Scott King, the widow of Martin Luther King, Jr., in 1986 concerning Jeff Sessions, the man nominated by Donald Trump for the office of United States Attorney General. From 1981 to 1993, Sessions was an assistant state's attorney in Alabama. He failed to get confirmed as a federal judge in 1986 because of his consistent racist remarks, and unjust prosecution of blacks for voter fraud. The 1985 prosecution of three black men for tampering with fourteen ballots is one such case; all the defendants were acquitted. Coretta Scott King's letter outlined the problems Jeff Sessions has with minority races, and opposed his appointment to an office where equality and fairness are required. Her words are just as relevant today as they were in 1986. The only reasons Mitch McConnell would not want to hear them are a lack of interest in American citizens, and racism.

Here is Mrs. King's letter, that Mitch McConnell did not want read:

"I write to express my sincere opposition to the confirmation of Jefferson B. Sessions as a federal district court judge for the Southern District of Alabama. My professional and personal roots in Alabama are deep and lasting. Anyone who has used the power of his office as United States Attorney to intimidate and chill the free exercise of the ballot by citizens should not be elevated to our courts. Mr. Sessions has used the awesome powers of his office in a shabby attempt to intimidate and frighten elderly black voters. For this reprehensible conduct, he should not be rewarded with a federal judgeship.

I regret that a long-standing commitment prevents me from appearing in person to testify against this nominee. However, I have attached a copy of my statement opposing Mr. Sessions’ confirmation and I request that my statement as well as this be made a part of the hearing record.

I do sincerely urge you to oppose the confirmation of Mr. Sessions."

Trump Learned Nothing From Watergate

In addition to his lack of empathy toward parents whose son died in 2004, while fighting in Iraq, Donald Trump has gone for the international jugular vein and invited hackers in Russia to commit espionage by hacking email accounts owned by government officials, most notably Hillary Clinton. Standing before a live microphone, he actually asked them to hack and reveal sensitive information. It's almost as if he thought that sort of thing was legal, and without any risks!

Hacking and wiretapping with the intention of influencing an election is hardly original. Trump apparently has forgotten 1972, when Nixon unlawfully recorded conversations of his political opponents. Of course, an obvious difference between Nixon and Trump is that Nixon was intelligent enough to understand that such actions are against the law, and attempted to hide his involvement when the news broke. Trump, it seems, either does not remember Watergate, or failed to learn from it.

While Clinton could have handled her email correspondence more safely while she served as Secretary of State, invoking the criminal element of another country, particularly one that is not one of our allies, is dangerous. It is also something that is no laughing matter, so if Trump is jesting, he should learn self control. Why would a presidential candidate laughingly request that others make a crime victim out of his opponent?

Donald Trump And Adolf Hitler

Donald Trump is now barking some insane nonsense about forcing all Muslims in America to wear identification which distinguishes them, at a glance, from other Americans. He was interviewed by Yahoo and by NBC because of some vague comments he made on the subject, and he attempted to justify it by calling such violations of the first, fourth, and fifth amendments "good management" for America. He also stated that America has "no management", with which yours truly does not agree.

Either Trump erroneously blames America's problems on one religion; thinks he can win the presidency by inciting more hatred toward Muslims; or he is simply a bigot who feels he can run rough shod over any population within America he chooses. In the mean time, it appears that Donald Trump has no problem with the five white supremacists who were arrested recently in a foiled plot to kill people, while they worship in synagogues and black churches.

Where have we heard this idea about the outward identification and isolation of members of a certain religion? Does it sound, at all, familiar?

Trump also stated that he favors keeping a national data base of names
of anyone who happens to be Muslim. How is it that America is actually
taking Trump seriously? Especially while America prides itself on religious
freedom? Isn't it also interesting that while Trump wants to wall off our
country to keep foreigners out, he fancies women from Slovenia and
Czechoslovakia?

Of course, each of those women became American citizens AFTER
marrying "The Donald".

Here's more about those interviews. America needs to wake up.
