Trump Learned Nothing From Watergate

In addition to his lack of empathy toward parents whose son died in 2004, while fighting in Iraq, Donald Trump has gone for the international jugular vein and invited hackers in Russia to commit espionage by hacking email accounts owned by government officials, most notably Hillary Clinton. Standing before a live microphone, he actually asked them to hack and reveal sensitive information. It's almost as if he thought that sort of thing was legal, and without any risks!

Hacking and wiretapping with the intention of influencing an election is hardly original. Trump apparently has forgotten 1972, when Nixon unlawfully recorded conversations of his political opponents. Of course, an obvious difference between Nixon and Trump is that Nixon was intelligent enough to understand that such actions are against the law, and attempted to hide his involvement when the news broke. Trump, it seems, either does not remember Watergate, or failed to learn from it.

While Clinton could have handled her email correspondence more safely while she served as Secretary of State, invoking the criminal element of another country, particularly one that is not one of our allies, is dangerous. It is also something that is no laughing matter, so if Trump is jesting, he should learn self control. Why would a presidential candidate laughingly request that others make a crime victim out of his opponent?

It looks as if Republicans are having the same problems they had in 2012; a severe lack of viable candidates. Chris Christie might be feasible on a very desperate day, but Donald Trump?

Will Pat Roberts Please Shut Up?

An open letter from Pat Roberts, (R-Ks) Jerry Moran, (R-Ks) and et els, to another country, concerning matters of state, in defiance of the White House......yet another reason Kansas republicans do NOT deserve respect! President Obama does not need the likes of Pat Retard and Jerry Moron to undermine his efforts at diplomatic conversations with Iran about war! It seems that Republicans think that keeping the Middle East in as much military conflict as possible, rather than solutions that involve peace, or at least holding back, on war, is better for the world, and for the United States, than peace. The more bloodshed, the happier Roberts will be. Hopefully, his former Kansas page, who supports him ad nauseam, will pick up arms and join in! Or are Republicans only supportive of military actions and bloodshed that do not involve their own?

This may or may not be a direct and clear example of treason, per se. There are arguments circulating the web, at this moment, suggesting that the United States indict the morons who drafted this letter. While most of the supporters of the Kansas representatives who signed this letter only support the First Amendment in cases involving their own protected speech, setting a precedent for prosecutions of treason is a serious matter. This country is seriously divided over some very petty things, and the supporters of Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran voted according to petty feelings surrounding the race of one of President Obama's parents, rather than any agenda, even of treason. Perhaps the more intellectual, thinking citizens in Kansas, if not outnumbered by insane racists, could lead an effort to recall Roberts and Moran and install more intelligent fair minded types.

The real problem with gestures such as this is that it shows America's potential enemies, worldwide, the weaknesses that can be exploited at home. The fact that Americans are actually stupid enough to be divided for racist reasons has become not only an embarrassment, but an actual defense problem. While citizens are bickering, attempting to dress up ugly, racist opinions about their president in the most politically correct garb they can find for their nonsensical horror and make themselves appear "christian", a`la the new testament, any enemy the nation has can clearly see that the division extends all the way to Congress, the Senate, and challenges the White House. Is this helpful in terms of defense, or does this put those who volunteer to defend our country in unnecessary danger? Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, by signing that stupid letter, have inched, or maybe lurched, our country closer to another war. Do we need this? Think about it, Kansas, and stfu.

Good For Nebraska

What a Koch Brother to do, anymore? Even the Republicans don't wanna play! Nebraska, for the second time, has foiled their plans to run Keystone through their state. First, several landowners felt cheated at the prospect of their land getting snatched by the process of eminent domain when the land snatched for the pipeline would not benefit anyone in their respective communities, or anyone in Nebraska, for that matter. So a lawsuit somehow ended up granting the governor the ultimate say-so concerning where and when the pipeline could be built. The governor, Dave Hieneman, (R) initially opposed the project because of the potential of polluting the Ogallala Aquifer should anything not go as the Koch Brothers have promised. Now, it seems that there have been concerns about too much power granted to the governor inasmuch as the decision of who must sell his property for conscience money is concerned. Lancaster County Judge Stephanie Stacy took that authority away from the governor and put it back in the legislature's hands. It's hard to imagine that one pair of corrupt businessmen can personally own as many of our local, state, and national politicians and leaders as they own, and also control any grants given to any part of the scientific community.

Republicans Have No Regard For The Law

 

 

Here we go again....it's almost like 1995 all over again, but with a few differences. The differences

most sources cite are things like different economic conditions between then and now and less polarized partisanship between Republicans and Democrats, but a big difference that seems to be overlooked by a lot of media sources is this: the Affordable Care Act is now law, and in 1995, there was no such law. In 1995, the dispute was about balancing the budget without necessarily ignoring the law. In 2013, with the Affordable Care Act as of yet not implemented, thanks to Republicans with no regard for federal law, the government is shut down because John Boehner wants to continue voting, and taking up space, in these sessions, as if the Affordable Care Act had not been signed into law. Since it has been signed into law, the only way to balance our budget lawfully is to take it into consideration. Boehner doesn't want to do that, and has the dramatics cranked up to full blast in defense of his inalienable "right" to ignore the law. That's the big difference between now and 1995.

 

Violence Against Women Act Passes

The Violence Against Women Act passed today. This is good news for all of the police training, shelters, counseling programs, funding for legal representation for victims, (and that is an HUGE problem!!) and laws connected to the Violence Against Women Act. Sadly, the subject of children caught in custody battles wherein the issue of domestic violence has manifested is still not properly addressed. Judges still seem to think that a violent thug will only have one victim over the course of his violent career, and thereby almost blame the victim! A family law court judge in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia actually tried to "overlook" the issue of domestic violence in rulings in a certain case, but since the thug involved had already been found guilty of domestic violence in criminal court, this judge was unable to ignore the guilty verdict when rulings were made. Without the Violence Against Women Act, she might have gotton away with it.

One hundred and thirty-eight Republicans did not think that protection under the law in all phases of defusing an ongoing domestic violence situation was "fiscally responsible", and those same Republicans also did not think that those most likely to become victims of domestic violence in their states would have any value as votors, and probably not as human beings, either. Kansas lawmakers, of course, voted against it. Their position on this is probably that it's more cost effective from an economic standpoint to bury a domestic violence victim than it is to help her.

Would Sad Republicans Please Treat The Flag With Respect?

 

Okay, the election is finally over, Obama won, and Ann Romney and Carl Rove are crying. And that should not really bother anyone too much. We held an election, and the candidate who won the most popular votes also won the electoral college. America clearly spoke. Only one candidate can win, not all. That's why we elect; there is a choice to make. So why is it such a big problem when that happens? We all participated in democracy. This is a great thing, and something for which we should all be thankful. But instead, some ingrates are flying the flag upside down because their favorite did not win. It's happened in a couple of places.

Ya know, this is something that is done because the entire nation is under attack or in dire distress for some reason, not something that is done for no reason, or because the people in the United States held an election as a function in a working democracy. It is also disrespectful. If you are a sad Republican, cry with Ann and Carl or take a baby aspirin; don't treat your flag with disrespect.

Nice. The son of Republican Senate candidate, Tommy Thompson, in Wisconsin, just told votors at a public event that November 6 was when they could send President Obama "back to Kenya". How sweet. Especially since President Obama is from America. What on earth do these Republican types teach their children, anyway? The Democratic National Convention Summed Up

The DNC was summed can be summed up by one person and one word: Bill Clinton and facts! Yes; no one else seems to do it like Bill Clinton! Good, bad, or indifferent, he delivered facts at the convention. Everyone else, most notably, Republicans, seem to prefer fantasy.

 

Romneygate: Why Mitt Hid His Emails

Why do Republicans support Mitt Romney? They flip out all over the place about healthcare reform, calling it "Obamacare", but is the average, brainwashed, sheeplike Republican aware that Mitt Romney attempted to push the same idea through Massachusetts legislation in 2006? In essence, the sheeple scream about Obama because sheep hate the healthcare reform bill, and they listen to Bishop Romney when he says he's got better ideas, but the Bishop's ideas turn out to be the same as Obama's, once we finally find a few of the missing emails from Romney's tenure as governor of Massachusetts!

So this is why Mitt does not want these emails to be found. We finally got our hands on some of them, and he wants to socialize American medicine in a rubber stamp sort of way and be done with it. His ideas about forcing mandatory insurance on the general public is a bit more draconic than Obama's, however; and could even damage the way medicine is practiced in the United States. His one-size-fits-all ideas about the way medicine should be practiced can limit a patient's access to tests for a rare diagnosis and force providers to practice medicine by the rules of an insurance company and not according to the need a patient has for care. Insurance companies already run the "medical industry" we have in this country. Medicine is already "one-size-fits-all". Mitt Romney obviously isn't concerned about the average American.

Here's something else disturbing, involving medicine, that happened in the very state Romney governed. Granted, this did not happen under Romney's watch, but it happened in the wake of the legislation Romney pushed through concerning medicine, insurance, and law. A family law court judge actually ordered a pregnant woman to have a second trimester abortion. That woman had to petition the Supreme Court in Massachusetts for the right to carry her healthy baby to term. Does it sound like Massachusetts has been under the influence of officials who care about human life? Not to me.

Perhaps Mitt Romney's candidacy for president should be put on hold until we have seen all of his hidden emails.

Is Mitch saying that the votors in those states don't matter? Why take their choices away so soon? Besides, Mitt Romney does not look anywhere near as good in chaps...........

The Fair Sentencing Act Goes Into Effect Today

Happy New Year, Everyone! Today is the day that the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 will go into effect. This means that many people, nationwide, who have been incarcerated since 1986 for small amounts of crack will, or should, be released, because they were sentenced as if they had been caught with about ten times as much cocaine. In many cases, the time already served would more than equal the length of a sentence for the same drug not turned into crack. This is fair, as we never should have incarcerated people for drug possession in the first place. Especially with this drug. I really think that imposing harsher sentences for crack was racially motivated, since more African Americans have been arrested over the years for crimes involving crack than any other ethnic group. It was a way Republican politicians could reduce that particular voting bloc. Now, if they want votes, I guess they will have to try harder to appeal to everyone.

If you have read other entries on my blog, you can probably guess my thoughts about incarcerating people for violation of prohibition laws. While I am one of the most anti-drug people you will find, I simply think that making laws prohibiting drugs only creates and strengthens organized crime, and turns individuals into criminals when they otherwise would not have been. An example of this, in this country, is alcohol prohibition. We did not have a probelm with the Mafia until we created a market for bootlegging. Even the repeal of alcohol prohibition in 1929 did not eradicate the monster of organized crime that got a home here in this country because of prohibition. So.......any attention to this matter by any politician is appreciated. Thankyou for signing the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010, President Obama!

As a collective population, this could be an opportunity for Americans to save a lot of money and resources. Sending people to prison is expensive, in many ways. "Three hots and a cot" are obvious, but what about medical care, the salary of every corrections employee, and the costs of court proceedings? It adds up.....and don't forget the costs of foster care for any children whose parents are caught in the legal machine. That's not exactly cheap, either, while it still seems to accomplish the "divide and conquer" goal so dear to today's Republicans.

Lots of people will be getting out of prison today, tommorrow, and in the upcoming weeks. Some of them have been in prison since the late 1980's, when the economy was in much better shape than it is today. How easy will it be for them to find gainful employment in a climate where a person with no criminal history may have problems finding gainful employment? Will those who went into prison with addiction and substance abuse issues be able to find a way to stay sober and embrace the opportunity they have just been given? Last night, the traditional Halloween, or Ancestor Night, and today, "Day of the Dead", marks the beginning of a New Year. I sincerely hope that those affected directly by the the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 will find positive ways to take advantage of their new opportunities and learn to enjoy their lives in a grateful and productive way. Congratulations and good luck!

Ya know, Republicans, I already know who your stinkin' candidates are, I already have an opinion about most of them, and I already know who I'm probably going to vote for, so if you wanna grab money for your stupid little campaign, just do it the way you're supposed to do it. Or just campaign by starting a new charity with more capitol going to the cause rather than the overhead, or donate funds to an existing charity, and spend as much time as possible being a spokesperson for that, instead of taking money for advertising from a super-pac. I would be much more impressed, and so would many other Americans. Also, Mitt Romney belongs to the same deranged religious movement to which Warren Jeffs belongs, and no amount of advertising can erase that. So..........please stop reminding me of Nixon era Republicans. Not only does it cost too much to invoke laws to straighten you guys out, it gets boring.
