Kansas Won't Follow Court Order

Surprise, surprise......actually; not so much. Kansas has been in contempt of court since February of this year concerning an order to recalculate the budget for all the public schools in the state. Last week, the Supreme Court gave the Kansas legislature until June 30 to comply, or public schools would not be allowed to open this fall for the 2016-2017 school year. Instead of following the court's order, Governor Brownback, (R) determined that the legislative session should end as scheduled, despite the fact that their job is not done. If a private person reacted this way, it would be contempt of court.

Former Kansas Republican Lawmaker Is Also A Deadbeat Dad

At the left is a picture of what a Republican representative looked like, back in the early eighties. It is also a picture of what a deadbeat dad looks like. Paul R. Hess, who is now in Washington, serving as the chairman of the King County Republicans 46th District, represented Shawnee County in Kansas during the early eighties, when he and Anne Schroer divorced and she was awarded custody of their three sons. He did not think the court was serious when it ordered him to pay child support, and fled the country to evade charges of theft and to defy custody orders. Anne Schroer was forced to fly to Egypt to retrieve her children. There's some good, old fashioned, responsible budget balencing and family values!

Paul Hess owes his ex-wife hundreds of thousands of dollars in back child support and interest. After she moved back to Kansas, she also moved the child support collection back to Kansas, but no state where she lived after the divorce actually did an efficient job of collecting child support. Now, the former Republican representative and his attorney are stating that the court order has somehow become "dormant", or "expired"! A mortgage does not "expire". A student loan or an auto loan will not "expire"! Not even a utility bill simply "goes dormant" or "expires". The truth is, a court order for child support does not "expire" when it is unpaid until the demise of the obligee.

How interesting that Republicans, especially in Kansas, rant on and on about how only inferior people ever rely upon government assitance, and how family values must always be upheld; they one of their own scoffed the very law that was designed to keep divorced mothers and children from needing government assistance in the first place! And committing custodial interferance, to boot! It looks as if Mr. Hess has made some substantial donations to the Republican party recently, while still refusing to pay his child support debt. Perhaps the Republican party should cancel the donation and reroute it to Mrs. Schroer, and while they are at it, perhaps they should reroute Mr. Hess's entire salary to her until his child support is paid.

Dylan Redwine's Aunt Makes Interesting Comment

Someone claiming to be Dylan Redwine's aunt recently made a very interesting comment on a website called Gather concerning Dylan's relationships with family members. Thirteen year old Dylan disppeared shortly after arriving at his father's house in Colorado for a court ordered visit. I will run the comment here:

"My brother would not withhold information that would help to find his son. He has been just as upset as everyone else that his son is missing. His ex-wife Elaine and his other son Cory have been in the media, but he is himself just as distraught as they are over the disappearance of Dylan.

As far as the custody dispute, a lot of couples go through bitter and angry divorces, and as I have said before, children sometimes hear things that they were not meant to hear and interpret them as something entirely different than what it was meant to be. I do know that Dylan loved both his parents and his brother and his brothers from a prior marriage.

Unfortunately, in situations like this, they are going to look at my brother as having something to do with this, but they should be looking at both parents and or anyone involved or related to their divorce proceedings. As mothers and siblings have in the past had involvement in cases like this to get back at the other parent or parents if it is a sibling. Sad, but true.

In any case, that is all I have to say at the time. As now it is going on the 8th day of Dylan’s disappearance, and I am just praying to hear some news soon. Hopefully we will hear something from my brother soon hear on our end. Until then, all I have is hope that Dylan will be found." ....Bridget Redwine-Simmers; Gather.com

While Redwine-Simmers describes her brother, Dylan's father, as "distraught", her own statements do not appear to have been made by a distraught aunt. Believe me; if any niece or nephew of mine had been missing for eight days, as Dylan had on the day this comment appeared, I would not have been on the internet defending my brother on social networking websites. I would have been helping my brother pass out flyers with my nephew's picture, and searching everywhere I could possibly search. Any post or comment I made anywhere would have contained, at the very least, a phone number where authorities could be reached in the event that Dylan was sighted by someone. I think I speak for most aunts, here. And what's up with the statement, "I do know that Dylan LOVED both his parents......"? Loved? As in, no longer? What, exactly, are you trying to say, Redwine-Simmers?

Update On Lisa Irwin

Police still have no leads or information to help lead to Lisa Irwin, or find her kidnapper. Lisa's parents have put out a plea to whoever is responsible, begging for Lisa's safe return. To this, I would add, if you know someone who suddenly has a female infant in their care or custody that was not there before, or if you work in a doctors' office or daycare and suddenly have someone bring in a patient or client who wasn't part of their original family, please insist upon seeing a birth certificate and court order (if applicable) indicating that this person actually has custody. I know, from personal experience in Northeast Kansas, that these steps and precautions are often ignored by professionals, to the detriment of the children and families who depend on them. Here's a case in which routine professionalism can save the day, and a child's life.

Planned Parenthood Gets To Stay

Ouch. Governer Browncrack, of Kansas, didn't get his own way this time. Boo-hoo-hoo! He tried to strip Planned Parenthood of Mid Missouri and Kansas of it's funding, because it assists women in obtaining abortions, but a judge ordered Kansas to fund them, anyway, and keep offering medical care to women in Kansas. So he says he'll obey the U.S. District court order while he appeals. Oh boy! He's gonna appeal!
I've said this before, and I will say it again, Governer Brownback, if you will put your character where you legislation is, and adopt a special needs child whose mother might have been offered an abortion, and give that child love and a home, I will respect you and stop calling you "Browncrack" online. I may not agree with you, because I still think your decisions and legislation are hypocritical and non-beneficial to Kansans, but I will speak of you to anyone who looks at this blog with a teeny bit more respect.
