Former Marysville Kansas Teacher Guilty

In  November of 2016, yours truly wrote this, for another publication, about a former Marysville, Kansas public school teacher who moved to the Wichita area and got arrested in Butler County, Kansas for sexual abuse of a child.

"A brilliant special education teacher and basketball coach by the name of Mike Melcher has been arrested in Butler County, Kansas for the electronic solicitation of a child under the age of fourteen, and for inappropriate physical contact with a child under the age of fourteen. Mr. Melcher was a special education teacher and basketball coach in Marysville, Kansas, from 2008 to 2014. His first appearance in court was November 28.

This is not the first time Kansas has run into problems through the lack of background checks for teachers. Since 2002, Kansas has required criminal background checks for teachers, but any teacher who was hired before 2002 is not required to undergo a background check. This effectively "grandfathers" any and all teachers with criminal records who were hired before 2002. According to KSN, a teacher named Mike Burgan in St. Johns, Kansas, who taught for USD 350, was found to have a criminal record for indecent solicitation of a child, dating back to 1988. It was determined that Mr. Burgan had lied, numerous times, to the school board and the Kansas Department of Education. Can anyone see how easy it is to teach in public schools in Kansas with a criminal record?

The other problem which afflicts Kansas is cronyism and cover-up. How many child predators have enjoyed lengthy criminal careers because others have failed to report crime? The fallout from Mr. Melcher's arrest and subsequent court dates will hopefully yield more information concerning background check procedures for the El Dorado School District and the Marysville School District."

There is now an update. Mike  Melcher entered a guilty plea. He will be sentenced in May. While he has been on leave from his teaching position, he was still listed, on Monday, March 6, as an employee of the El Dorado school system. Hopefully, there will be no efforts among school boards in the state of Kansas to rehire him, because he has lived in Kansas all his life and has a lot of friends in Kansas.

Kansas Government Official Drives Drunk

Stanley Ahlerich, executive director of Council of Economic Advisers for Governor Brownback, of Kansas, was arrested for drunk driving at 3:14 on Saturday, February 6. It's as easy as pi, isn't it? He thought he would get away with it.

Frankfort Kansas School Doesn't Impose Sanctions About Guns

Hmmmm....something tells your faithful blogger that this directive, courtesy of thea United States Department of Justice, has not been heeded by the principal of Frankfort High School, in Frankfort, Kansas. On March 3, 2015, an eighteen old senior, who was already on probation for other crimes, took a gun to school and was arrested again. Federal law states that such a student must be expelled and may not enter the building again, for any reason, for an entire year. The school administration has no choice in this matter; the law states that any public school using state or federal tax dollars must follow this directive. One must wonder, then, what was the student in question doing at graduation, less than nine weeks later? And why did he get a diploma from the school that was required, by law, to expel him? Shouldn't that student's diploma be recalled, as he did not properly earn it? And shouldn't Frankfort High School lose a portion of their state funding and their federal funding for their failure to follow the law?

What Goes Up Must Come Down

Many Amercans, at this point, think that there should be reforms made to the laws governing campaign financing for politicians running for office. From Fox News to Fact Checks, we end up with very little actual information and even less in the way of kept campaign promises and enterprising souls such as the Koch Brothers end up buying elections. Of the matter of corruption, there can be no doubt.....but does one ask for change by flying a gyrocopter into the no-fly zone over the Capitol and landing in the west lawn? Well, one person does. His name is Doug Hughes. And now he's "frustrated", according to Yahoo News, because his "message isn't getting out." Where's the eye-rolley when I need it?

What's wrong with joining one of the many committees devoted to reforming the campaign donations are collected and earmarked for various purposes? What's wrong with writing letters to representatives and lobbyists who have picked up that concern? Hughes hails from Florida, but if he is willing to travel to Washington D.C. to fly his gyrocopter toy in front of the Capitol, and get arrested while doing it, it would certainly not have been too much more difficult to travel to Kansas, instead, and find out how the scandal involving campaign loans between Governor Brownback and Jeff Colyer is going. Those two are under the investigation of a grand jury. The gyrocopter really didn't accomplish anything and most of us would not have associated the stunt with campaign finances or corruption. Hopefully, the next reformer will run for office himself, or write a book, rather than get arrested by flying a toy into a no-fly zone.

Patricia Welch As A Resident Agent

Hey Patricia Welch, how come you're such a big, fat liar? Who the hell did you think you were when you didn't want to help find two missing children? And why is covering for adults more important? Here's another question, you dumb bitch; what was really going on when you served as a "resident agent" for L. Engleking Inc.? Was your friend from Florida really a plumber, or was that just a ruse, so that he could get inside the homes of people who have children, in order to post their pictures on Facebook? Isn't that why your friend's son is in prison now?

You know, you are married to a "person of interest" in a high profile missing persons case involving two children, Sheila and Katherine Lyon,  and your nephew is a person of interest in the same case. Your employment history also involves working with someone who is currently serving time in federal prison for child pornography and human trafficking! Was your home daycare used for something similar?

Hopefully, you'll be savvy enough to tell the truth in court on April 27, when you go to court in Bedford County, Virginia. While you certainly come across as a bimbo who thinks she's exempt from the law, you do not appear to be the type who would make it in prison. Short of definite answers about all this, you can expect to see more details, such as the ones in this post, splashed all over the internet. Quite a few people already hope that you will go from being a "resident agent" for a kiddie porn creep to being a resident in the pokey, so you should really find a way to start telling the truth in court.

Two Wichita Women Arrested For Human Trafficking

Yes, Kansas, you read that correctly. Wichita is a big hub for human trafficking. Tinique Anthony and Ashley Bowman, two accused perpetrators, are now both in jail.

Diana Shunn, of the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County, recommends awareness and communication to help fight this type of crime. Assuming that "those things don't happen in my neighborhood", or "those things don't happen in the country" or "in Kansas" only puts more children in danger.

The allegations against Anthony and Bowman have to do with the prostitution and sale of victims who are under age. Wichita and Kansas City may not seem like prime locations for this, but both of those cities feature networks of highways that connect to interstate routes that will quickly and easily take drivers almost anywhere in the United States. This provides not only an easy escape route, but a quick and practical way to move a kidnapped child out of the area before the police have even had the chance to refuse assistance to distraught parents on the grounds that they do not bother with "runaways". Despite the myth generated by law enforcement that runaway children are safe, runaways are prime targets for human trafficking. So are children with disabilities, latchkey children, and, statistically, bullying victims. Children who have been left behind after school activities by inattentive teachers are also prime targets. Yes, a guidance counselor in Frankfort, Kansas actually did this. The school tried to keep the incident quiet, and described the teacher as an "asset" to the school when the parents complained. The only way such a teacher could be an asset is if the school had arranged a "deal", involving a vulnerable child.

Of all the cities in the United States, Wichita, Kansas, is among the top five cities in the United States for the origination......that means recruiting and kidnapping.......of human trafficking. That is not a wonderful reason to be famous, Kansas. The guidance counselor in Frankfort never did explain why he left a fourteen year old girl by herself on the highway, four miles away from Frankfort. Some strangers stopped and gave her a ride back into town. The school board of USD 380 (Frankfort and Centralia) felt that Tom Schroeder's action of forcing a child to accept a ride from a stranger was appropriate, and he was told by an attorney not to respond to any questions about the incident.

The Doctor Made A House Call

Who said doctors don't make house calls anymore? Dr. Jeremy Howes, of Wichita Kansas made one yesterday! He was also booked for reckless driving and driving under the influence. When Dr. Howes is not making house calls or recklessly operating his Mustang, he is operating with Wichita Surgical Specialists.

The homeowner's surveillance video shows a pedestrian moving out of the doctor's path immediately before his house call. This could have had a much more tragic ending.

Naked People In Wichita

How did I miss this? A man and a woman in Wichita, Kansas, both twenty-two years old, got into an argument with each other and somehow ended up outside naked, yelling at each other. They also found a way to mess up a mobile home while fighting with each other, as this happened in a mobile home park. So police came and arrested both of them.

While all this sounds quite exciting, this blogger usually does not fight while naked, but does other things while naked, instead! That said, it all sounds very entertaining. How come no one ever goes outside naked and fights when I'm around to see it?

Kansas Board Of Education Dude On Drugs

I'm a little late in mentioning this interesting Kansas incident, because it happened earlier this month, but here's what a Kansas board Of Education president looks like on drugs. John Reeder, of Trego County, was arrested on charges of possession and intent to distribute with one thousand feet of a school. Because of his position, he really should have known better. There was also a handgun involved, but isn't this why Governor Brownback allows teachers in Kansas to take guns to school? Reeder resigned immediately, so that his district could carry on with it's "business" without distractions; gotta wonder what is meant by "business". He doesn't look the slightest bit upset by all this in his booking photo, does he?

Kansas Cop Forces Mother To Abandon Children

While taking care of some business at the local courthouse here in beautiful Northeast Kansas, an officer came barreling through the hallway, making everyone clear space for him to march a young woman, whom he had just arrested, down the hall. He sat her down, momentarily, on a bench. Then she recognized me, having met me in the past, (this is a small community, and her children are close in age to my children) and called out my name. She explained to me that the police had taken her into custody and had left her children, ages five and seven, by themselves! She wanted me to call her mother on my cell phone and ask her to go watch them...that was all. As I began to oblige, the officer grabbed my arm and snatched my cell phone away from me. While I continued to grasp the cell phone, he hollered, "If you help her, I will arrest you, too!" He stopped me from dialing, but found himself not technically savvy enough to remove the phone number, and he further screamed, "End it!", letting go of both yours truly and the cell phone.

My husband explained to me that earlier in the day, there had been a big drug bust in the area, and quite a few people had been arrested for violating prohibition laws. He was also of the opinion that the officer had put the woman in this position deliberately, so as to force her to choose, when deciding who to call, between her mother and her lawyer. Furthermore, if social services had been sent to her home, and taken the children, the mother could also be charged with child neglect and abandonment, even though the police had taken her into custody. And asking me to call her mother to take care of the children had somehow become criminalized behavior.

What the hell is the matter with everyone in Northeast Kansas? Times were, during my misspent youth, my big mouth and my boozy breath were factors that almost got me arrested, more than once. Now that I am "old"......as per my childrens' descriptions.....and a little more conservative, no one looks at me and thinks "outlaw", these days. But I'm gonna get arrested for calling someone's mother to go babysit her children? Kansas law enforcement, have you lost your minds? Or is this another way you feed the human trafficking market you call a foster care system?

Petition Concerning Westboro Baptist Church

Lately, it seems that there has been a morbid and rabid fascination for Westboro Baptist Church, that bunch of obnoxious Christians from Topeka, Kansas, who think that God hates minorities, and think that they should drive to funerals of soldiers and famous people and let us all know how the Christian god of antiquity feels about all of us. There is even a petition asking that they be "identitifed", somehow, as an hate group, to which I will link you here. I did not link to the church's official website above, but rather the Wikipedia description of them, as the church already garners enough attention.

It's well and good to sign a petition concerning this matter, as a "feel good" measure, but all of us who have been within earshot of any active member of Westboro Baptist Church are already quite aware that they are hateful. Law enforcement, everywhere the church goes, has them pegged as hateful and unkind as well. England has even taken the unusual step of banning a couple of the church's members from visiting their country. The FBI is also aware of them, and regards them as problematic, not only because of what they do, but because of the potential for adverse reactions of others. Speaking of adverse reactions of others, this is one of the two things that the members of Westboro Baptist Church want the most. They not only desire adverse reactions on the parts of bystanders and nearby property owners; they want to be arrested, assaulted, and harrassed. Their whole game revolves around gaining negative attention and reactions from others, escalating the same into unlawful or combative reactions, then litigating against those who became offended and reacted. They generally do not bother to file suit unless they know, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that they can win in court. This is how they pay the bills at their church, everyone.

The other thing this merry band of attention whoring Christians want is publicity. That's why the funerals of soldiers are used as the church's platform, and also the funerals of others who are well known or famous, or the funerals of people who died in events that have been heavily publicized, such as the school shooting in Connecticut on December 14. The petition counts as publicity, too. The more Westboro Baptist Church interviews, press coverage items, facebook pages, and petitions for or against their silly-assed rhetoric find their way into our reading material, the more infamous Westboro Baptist Church becomes. It's a fact. That's why I did not bother to sign the petition concerning their behaviors. Had the press never picked up on the church's story  and run with it in 1998, most of us probably never would have heard of Westboro Baptist Church. While all of the media coverage cannot be undone, fewer pixels and less ink for this bunch is certainly worth considering.

Shirley Phelps, daughter of the paster of Westboro Baptist Church, and other female family members. Notice how they all look like carbon copies of each other. Inbreeding is a terrible thing.

Naked People Who Get Arrested

What's up with all the naked people who have been arrested lately? In California, someone named Jose Ayala walked into a Sacramento welding shop to ask for a job. Apparently, he did not have anything he considered appropriate to wear for job-hunting, so he completely did away with clothing for the occasion. He got arrested and did not get hired. Jason Wayne Strickland, of Arkansas, was arrested, naked, several months ago for taking his clothes off, dousing himself with gasoline, and threatening to burn his mother's house down. Yesterday, in California, someone else was arrested for stealing some assorted odds and ends from a church.....he was clad in a tutu! While fleeing and eluding, his tutu got caught on a chain link fence, and he was naked when he got arrested. But the headline stated that a "man in a tutu" had been arrested....and CNN only ran a picture of a lousy police car with that story! Dammit; aren't they aware that we need pictures with these headlines?

There's also the infamous Verdon Lamont Taylor, of Pennsylvania, who got arrested in February at a Walmart for being naked and stealing socks. At least CNN and the local news gave us the video. No one's ever naked when I'm at Walmart, though. And here's another one, Matthew James Ibarria, of Florida, was just arrested after driving his van naked. He was wanted for domestic violence and attempted to run over several officers while driving his van....naked. At least Clickorlando had the decency to run a picture with their naked man headline!

Has it really been warm enough to get arrested naked this winter?

Concert's Over!

Anyone remember Stevie B., who performed the song "Because I Love You", or "The Postman Song", which went to number one on the charts back in 1990? Who'd have guessed that he owed 420,000 in back child support? Guess it was all "because I love you"................!

Stevie Bernard Hill was arrested this weekend, for the very 420,000 he owes. The police in Massachusetts took him right off of the stage! According to police, he was surprised about this, too! He really thought it was okay not to pay his child support, and that the judge didn't really mean it when the order to pay was signed! Unfortunately, he wouldn't be the only one........

The most amusing thing about this story is this............"Springfield police Sgt. John M. Delaney tells the Springfield Republican that Hill was surprised by the arrest and concerned that he might miss a weekend show in Providence, Rhode Island."...........Yahoo News

Well; duh! Stevie B! Just pay the 420,000 in back child support! Then, they will let you out of jail, and you can do the rest of your shows! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!

Stevie Bernard Hill, who thought child support was optional!

More On Occupy Wall Street

Seven hundred people got arrested yesterday during the ongoing march in New York to Occupy Wall Street. This has not been getting much press, and I think that's because no one wants to give the marchers or their messages any attention or thought. It looks as if they are not going anywhere, though. I am encouraged to see different groups, different individuals, and different ages of people, with different messages for the banking industry and corperations. If we do not hold these people and institutions accountable for what they do with EVERYONE'S resources, who will?

Here's the police, probably wondering who to arrest and who not to arrest. Once again, I don't see any media covering the event. But then, there hasn't been any violence........Below, we have older people occupying Wall Street, as well. According to Micheal Moore, this is more likely than originally thought to take place in other parts of the country, as well.

"Seasoned activists said the ad-hoc protest could prove to be a training ground for future organizers of larger and more cohesive demonstrations, or motivate those on the sidelines to speak out against injustices.
"You may not get much, or any of these things on the first go-around," said the Rev. Herbert Daughtry, a longtime civil rights activist who has participated in protests for decades. "But it's the long haul that matters."
.........Yahoo News

I'm not sure what to really expect, at this point. It might be interesting to invite Mitt Romney to speak at one of the events taking place under the auspices of Occupy Wall Street, though. His position that "corperations are people" could finally get the perspective it deserves to give the votors an idea of what his platform is all about! (ok........that was sarcasm)

This is what Micheal Moore had to say:

Update On Noble Rick Pendland

Noble Rick Pendland was arrested this past Wednesday and moved to Cowley County, Kansas, on Thursday. Someone who knew who and where he was decided to tip off the police, and the police responded. Now, his lifestyle may have something in common with the lifestyles he is said to have imposed upon the children in his care. There are three cases pending against him so far, and possibly three more. It will not surprise me at all to see this get even bigger. How did it happen under everyone's noses?
